Chapter 133
“Hmm…”
“Hmph…”
The jelly girl wriggled her body as she listened to the sounds coming from both sides. However, she couldn’t move at all, as her body was firmly held in place.
Of course, she could easily slip out by making her body more fluid, but the jelly girl seemed to be enjoying the soft sensations pressing against her body, using the excuse that moving might wake the two sleeping individuals.
The truth, however, was something only the jelly girl knew.
Regardless, as she felt the warm body heat and softness touching her, the jelly girl bubbled slightly.
‘How did things end up like this?’
The first thing that popped into her mind was the beer bottles stuck in her jelly-like head.
Her head—or rather, the jelly near it—was embedded with beer bottles, golden liquid spilling from them. The jelly girl was bewildered by the liquid flowing into her body, unable to process it properly.
It made sense upon reflection. When had a jelly girl, originally human, ever experienced beer bottles lodged in her head? If she were still human, her skull would have shattered.Still, thanks to her time as an anomaly, she wasn’t overly startled. However, tasting beer in such an unexpected manner left her tilting her head in confusion.
‘Did it always taste like this?’
Making bubbling noises, she stared suspiciously at the liquid trickling into her.
‘Is this really beer?’
Suspicious, the jelly girl wobbled slightly as Han Seori held her, stirring old memories. She recalled trudging into a convenience store, tired, and muttering, “Ugh, beer prices went up again,” as she grabbed exactly four cans and headed home.
The scene of her old one-room apartment came into her mind, a distant and unfamiliar memory now.
She entered, deposited the beer in the fridge, and immediately went to shower—planning to indulge in the small luxury of a cold beer after a hot bath.
‘When was the last time I took a bath?’
Does soaking in swamp water or sewer runoff count as a bath?
At least I don’t seem to smell bad.
Snapping back from her detour of thoughts, the jelly girl returned to her memory of stepping out of the shower. Steam rising from her damp hair, she trudged to the fridge to retrieve a chilled beer and some snacks from the cabinet.
Pop. Crack.
She tore open the cheap snack’s packaging before opening the can with a soft hiss. Feeling the fizz and carbonation bubbles, she poured the cold liquid into her heated body.
Gulp, gulp.
The golden liquid slid down her throat, a chill spreading to her bones, making her let out a satisfied “Phew~!”
Chewing on dried snacks while sipping beer felt like washing away the stress and fatigue of the day. Swallowing a bite of the snack with a swig of beer was a simple pleasure.
But now...
‘...It feels so bland.’
The beers bubbling inside her jelly lacked that same satisfaction. While there was some fizz, the throat-chilling sensation was gone, leaving only the lackluster taste of Korean beer’s signature weak flavor.
Even the buzz from alcohol—or lack thereof—was absent, likely due to her changed body. Beer now tasted like barley-flavored sparkling water.
Staring at the beer bottles stuck in her jelly head, the girl bubbled again.
‘I can’t even enjoy beer properly anymore.’
As the beer dissolved within her, it left a bitter sensation, reflecting her mood.
While she stewed in these thoughts, Han Seori entered the room, noticing the beer bottles embedded in the jelly girl’s head.
“Hmm? What’s wrong? Did you not like the beer?”
Han Seori gently removed the bottles as she spoke in a kind tone. The jelly girl silently shook her head, her drooping demeanor pricking Han Seori’s heart.
As her mind replayed Hwangbo Yul’s earlier words about the jelly girl being an anomaly rather than a human, Han Seori shook her head internally.
‘Technically, she’s not wrong.’
But Han Seori couldn’t bring herself to treat the jelly girl that way.
Realizing this, Han Seori’s eyes widened momentarily before her focus shifted back to the damp, wriggling figure in her arms. The jelly girl, gazing up at her with a concerned expression, seemed to be asking if she was okay.
“Are you worried about me?”
Han Seori’s amused question made the jelly girl flutter her antennae in embarrassment before averting her gaze. Finding the display endearing, Han Seori patted her gently, though the unease lingering in her heart refused to dissipate entirely.
After some contemplation, Han Seori carefully carried the jelly girl to her bed, stepping over scattered jellies to lay down while holding her close.
“Shall we sleep together for the first time in a while?”
She chuckled at the memory of once locking the jelly girl in a glass tube to sleep and spoke in a bright tone.
Adjusting the jelly girl’s position in her arms, Han Seori succumbed to the warmth spreading through her and drifted off, the sensation of the jelly girl’s cool, pliant form oddly comforting.
The tightly shut door creaked open, and a staggering silhouette entered the room. Jellies scattered as the silhouette stumbled inside. It was Hwangbo Yul, whose face was flushed from alcohol.
Without a word, she climbed onto the bed. Han Seori, deep in sleep, didn’t stir, while the jelly girl froze, startled by Hwangbo Yul’s unexpected intrusion.
Lying down, Hwangbo Yul gazed at the jelly girl with bleary eyes and murmured softly.
“Observation... just observation.”
Before the jelly girl could process the cryptic words, Hwangbo Yul pulled her close and promptly fell asleep.
Now sandwiched between two women, the jelly girl pondered the situation before deciding to let it go.
‘It’s not like I asked for this, so what’s the harm?’
And it’s definitely not because being nestled between two beauties felt good… probably.
After squirming for a bit, the jelly girl found a comfortable position and closed her eyes. While she could no longer enjoy the taste of beer, this life wasn’t so bad.
Sometimes, things got a little rough, but they were manageable.
‘May tomorrow be as peaceful as today.’
With that thought, the jelly girl fell asleep.
The next morning, Han Seori and Hwangbo Yul’s voices woke the jelly girl. As she watched the two healthy individuals start their day, she couldn’t help but feel a little amused.
Back in the control room, an awkward atmosphere lingered. The culprits? Han Seori and Hwangbo Yul, who had been acting strange ever since waking up in the jelly girl’s room together.
Yang Hana and Kim Cheonsu watched them with varying reactions. Kim Cheonsu, in particular, felt conflicted.
‘When did she even go to that room? And why was Dr. Han there?’
Though the commotion that morning offered some explanation, the situation still left him puzzled. If he imagined himself in a similar situation, it would certainly feel uncomfortable.
As such thoughts crossed his mind, Kim Cheonsu quickly shook his head, banishing any inappropriate imagery.
Meanwhile, Yang Hana observed the scene with the interest of someone watching a morning drama.
‘What’s so entertaining about this?’
However, the uneasy atmosphere in the control room didn’t last long. A new problem soon presented itself.
What do you think?
