Chapter 457: Her decision...

"My god..." A soldier looked at his front, where a wave of monsters could be seen rampaging through the city. Thankfully, the city was evacuated due to the appearance of the biker; if it hadn't been, then the loss of life would be in at least a hundred thousand, if not in the outright million.

"What are you doing?! Shoot!!!" His superior, seeing him gawking at the scene instead of doing his job, shouted at him, which pulled the soldier out of his reverie, and he began to shoot at the monster, only to graze them with his bullets and make them angrier if anything.

One of the monsters stopped everything and lunged at him. Seeing the death approaching, the soldier could only shoot at the incoming threat, only to make it angrier.

'Mother...' was his last thought before death was about to take hold of him, but the sensation of being ripped apart never came. Instead, a low growl entered his ears as he opened his eyes and looked at the impaled monster, a spear in its abdomen.

"Look alive, soldier." The soldier heard these words and looked to his left, only to see Commander Yan passing him as he retrieved his spear from the now dead monster and headed towards the horde of monsters.

"It's been a while." Commander Yan said as he looked eye to eye at the monster who stood between the horde.

The monster was different from the others. Bearing almost a humanoid shape, its face was sinister, and two long arms gave it more of a nightmare image. Looking at it would just invoke one's fear, yet Commander Yan bravely made his way to the monster while the other monsters backed away in fear of him, except for the monster who seemed to be the one leading them all.

The monster stood still in its place while Commander Yan got close to it, just about a meter away, which was in the range of his spear. Looking at each other, the monster's head down while Commander Yan's head raised a little, they intensely looked at each other for a few seconds.

Before...

Bang!!!

They collided, the Qi concentrated at the tip of Commander Yan's spear as it collided with the dark miasmatic energy of the monster's which was concentrated at its fist.

Upon their collision, the nearby space was distorted, and the monsters in the vicinity were splattered apart. Yet, it did nothing to hinder their movements as they began to exchange moves at a rapid pace while Commander Yan moved them towards the inner city, where the monster concentration was a lot. Since their attacks were killing nearby monsters, Commander Yan wanted to use them to his advantage.

Little did he know, he was making a big mistake.

Tendrils of miasma were concentrating around the humanoid monster with a horrified face, but Commander Yan couldn't tell where they were coming from. All he knew was that there was a strange mix in the air that was causing the miasma and the space around him to be distorted.

But he couldn't find the cause of it until it was too late.

Bam!!!

A straight hit to his spear, and the shockwave that entered Commander Yan's body was stronger than the ones before. This one paralyzed him for just a second, but a second was an eternity for a monster of S rank.

A straight hit in the abdomen, and Commander Yan was blown all the way to the starting point of their fight. He tried to stand up, but instead coughed up blood. That one hit contained about half of the monster's miasma.

'It's smarter than it looks.' Commander Yan arrived at a simple conclusion. Commander Yan looked around and could easily tell what had happened. Their fight of about five minutes had come to an end. The injuries he had accumulated wouldn't be healed by the time the monster would already be on his head, and as predicted, even though he circulated his Qi to the best of his ability, he wasn't able to heal himself fully.

And now, the monster was at the top of him, looking down on him with its white hollowed eyes. Commander Yan tried to stand up using his spear as support, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't resist the small wobble in his steps.

Still, like a soldier, he stood up and looked at the monster in the eyes, blood falling down his lips as he looked at the horrific monster with a mocking smile on his face as he said, "If my daughter were here, you wouldn't have stood a chance."

As if the monster could fully understand him, a soft giggle that didn't suit the monster's image at all fell in Commander Yan's mind as he heard the words form in his mind, "Then I shall personally find her and send her to you."

With those words that shocked Commander Yan, the monster once again accumulated massive amounts of miasma on its hand, and gusts of wind blew everything around them. Bringing the fist down at him, Commander Yan could only face his death with a determined look on his face as he prepared his spear for one last struggle.

Suddenly...

Kraa!!!

As if a scream was emitted from somewhere nearby, Commander Yan couldn't help but widen his eyes at the figure that had appeared before him.

"Just so you know. I'm still mad at you about Mom." Yan Rong replied as she looked at the monster, who was startled by her appearance, and not only that, its ultimate attack was stopped by Yan Rong without any enchantments. How could it not be shocked?

"But..." Yan Rong said as she pushed the monster slightly, throwing it far away with just a simple push of her fist, "I haven't forgotten my duty either."

Her soft words that couldn't be heard by anyone else due to the strong force in the surroundings, but made their way to Commander Yan's ears, made him smile. As if all worry had left his body, all responsibility had left his body, a weight had been lifted off his shoulders, and all his worries were dissolved in thin air, he plopped back on the ground while breathing heavily, as he was still quite a bit injured.

He looked at his daughter, who slowly made her way to the monster, who, for some reason, seemed terrified by every step she took. No expression or look could be gleaned from the monster, but the fear emitted from it made it all the way to Yan Rong, even if there was no way to visibly see it.

The frost emitted from Yan Rong strangely didn't freeze the surroundings, but it did freeze whoever saw it down to their core.

It was a strange phenomenon, and an even more flabbergasting picture. To see such a horrifying monster baking away from the intimidating figure of a woman whose features didn't allow anyone to look away from her, yet at the moment, let alone the monster, no one could look at her, even when she wasn't looking back at them.

Yet, all Commander Yan could feel looking at his daughter was pride, and he could only say, "My daughter sure has grown. Both in personality and power."

'Especially power.' The emitting from her, although rivaled that of a commander realm cultivator, Commander Yan had a gut feeling even a Qi saint wouldn't be able to take her lightly.

'Just what happened to you?' He couldn't help but inwardly ask.

~~

Fighting the commander realm cultivator and the commander ranked soldier before him, Wei Jun suddenly stopped for a second as he looked away, in the distance from where he could feel frost emanating from one side of the city.

His opponent stopped too, looking in the direction from where he had felt the presence of a strong monster before, but was at ease knowing Commander Yan was there. But now that he felt the frost power coming from there, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on over there.

As for Wei Jun, he could only smile and remember back to the conversation he had with Yan Rong before coming here.

"I'm not going." She said.

"What do you mean?" Wei Jun gently asked. While he could act as a leader in front of others, even Natasha, he couldn't do the same in Yan Rong and Xia Lu's presence.

"I'm not following your plan." Yan Rong.

"You don't have to." Wei Jun said as it was an obvious fact. He slowly made his way over to her and cupped her face with both hands, softly whispering near her, "Do as your heart tells you. I'll follow."

Words of love that didn't suit Wei Jun's image, but couldn't help but warm Yan Rong's heart. She smiled, sighed, and backed away, "I'll let you know my decision."

"It seems the decision has been made." Wei Jun said from underneath the helmet and looked around. Seeing the perfectly demolished downtown, he deemed that it was enough of a lesson for the military.

Decided, he turned to his opponent and simply asked, "Does the offer of truce still stand?"

"..." The man could only inhale deeply as if he were fed up with the eccentricity of Wei Jun. But, it wasn't like he had a choice.
