Chapter 1146: Buddha Emperor Blood Sutra
“Quit screaming. Do you know how terrible you sound?”
Blue-eyed Tiger’s roar was still ongoing when Ye Qing penetrated the bloody gale and appeared right in front of him.
It was almost as if the gale capable of cutting space into pieces was nothing more than paper.
The next moment, Ye Qing reached out to grab Blue-eyed Tiger’s face. Specifically, he seemed to be trying to rip the sutra off his face.
Sensing danger, Blue-eyed Tiger flailed all six of his arms at Ye Qing. Each punch was only heavier than the last.
Ye Qing did not dodge though. He allowed the attacks to hit him without batting an eyelid.
The punches could break boulders and split hills, but all they elicited from Ye Qing were small ripples of profound light. Ye Qing himself did not budge an inch as if the punches were no greater than tickles.
The next moment, Ye Qing tightened his fingers and wrenched the sutra free from Blue-eyed Tiger’s face.
“Argh!”
Something horrifying was revealed at that moment. Golden flesh buds were continuously growing out of the areas where the sutra had touched.
The flesh buds weren’t true flesh buds. They were manifestations of the golden sutra’s power. As they had dug deep into Blue-eyed Tiger’s flesh and blood, large chunks of Blue-eyed Tiger’s face were ripped out together with the golden sutra. It was incredibly violent and terrifying.
Not only that, the golden sutra was screaming a struggling and resentful scream when it was ripped away from Blue-eyed Tiger. It was trying to crawl back into Blue-eyed Tiger’s flesh and blood.
Unfortunately, there was no resisting Ye Qing’s strength. No matter how much it struggled, it could do nothing but be ripped off of Blue-eyed Tiger’s face completely.
By the time the golden sutra was ripped off completely, all that was left of Blue-eyed Tiger’s face were bones, blood, and bits of flesh. It was horrifying to say the least.
The next moment, Blue-eyed Tiger collapsed to the ground as if he had lost his source of life. At the same time, the six arms attached to his flanks slowly withered away into dust.
It was clear that Blue-eyed Tiger had died a long time ago.
Blue-eyed Tiger’s death did not even register as a blip in Ye Qing’s mind. The guy wasn’t worth even an ounce of his concern. Instead, he focused all of his attention on the sutra he was holding.
A golden light was shining from the sutra. Rows and rows of text were transforming into tentacles and doing their best to crawl into Ye Qing’s flesh and blood.
Not only that, the three-headed, six-armed Arhat from before had silently made an appearance inside Ye Qing’s headspace before he knew it.
The Arhat no longer looked golden bright and grand like he was before though. Instead, he had turned into a blood-soaked demon that positively oozed evil. His three faces were wearing expressions of terror, evil, and savagery.
The bloody Arhat’s six arms were crooked with the palms facing upward like a candle stand. Blood red flames were burning inside his palms.
The flames were barely bigger than a candle flame, but hidden within it was countless vile ghosts and resentful souls. It was decidedly evil and dark.
If a single flame was equal to a world, then it looked as if the bloody Arhat was carrying six flames on his palms.
The countless vile ghosts and resentful souls inside the flames let out a horrifying wail in unison. The next moment, a bloody, corruptive power washed out of the flames and threatened to consume Ye Qing’s consciousness whole.
“Weak.”
In response, Ye Qing’s yang god took form inside his headspace. The Earthly Sovereign Bell was floating above his head, and the vague silhouette of the Records of Laojun Studying The Dao On A Bull appeared next to him. His yang god was also emitting rings of profound light that transformed into airs of Dao past a certain range. He looked both unfathomable and powerful.
Ye Qing curled his fingers and knocked the air. The next moment, his spiritual world shook like an earthquake, and profound light illuminated it all.
The profound light instantly scattered the bloody flood. At the same time, it melted the bloody Arhat bit by bit like a candle, causing him to ooze sticky, smelly blood.
The bloody Arhat roared as the flames he was holding burned profusely. Countless ghosts flew out of the flames in an attempt to push the profound light away.
In response, Ye Qing knocked the air again.
Buzz!
The profound light shot into the firmament, and the effects were clear even though there was no sound. The rioting flames gradually grew dim and silent under the profound light’s indomitable suppression, and the outpouring ghosts all turned into ash.
The bloody Arhat screamed and raged, but it could not dispel the all-encompassing profound light no matter what. It slowly but surely grew weaker and weaker.
Seeing that there was nothing he could do to corrupt Ye Qing, the bloody Arhat finally withdrew his six arms and enveloped himself in a tight embrace. Then, he attempted to escape Ye Qing’s consciousness in a beam of bloody light.
“Do you think you can escape?”
Ye Qing wore a disdainful expression as a massive dark yellow hand appeared out of nowhere and caught the bloody light firmly. Then, amidst a terrible scream, he crushed the bloody light into nothing.
As soon as the bloody light was crushed, the golden flesh buds still attacking Ye Qing’s flesh abruptly snapped at the center. As if it had taken a huge blow, the sutra abruptly grew weak and dim.
After the sutra’s light turned dim, the twisting text on the sutra became clear and readable.
As it turned out, the sutra’s paper was golden yellow, but the text was written in blood. Although hundreds, maybe even thousands of years had passed since this sutra was written, the bloody text remained wet and fresh. At this range, the stench of blood was almost palpable.
Not only that, Ye Qing could sense some sort of dark and corruptive energy from the blood. It obviously wasn’t human blood.
The golden yellow paper wasn’t really paper either. It was some sort of metal that was both hard and durable. The Buddhist light it emitted was strong, good, and the complete opposite of the dark, tainted blood text.
The blood text itself was written using ancient Buddhist script. Therefore, Ye Qing could not read a single word.
“Do you know what this is, brother?”
Luckily for Ye Qing, he was accompanied by a knowledgeable and worldly Taoist. He might just be able to resolve his doubts.
“Coming!” Yi Pin came over and took the sutra from Ye Qing’s hands. He looked the sutra up and down while murmuring, “This ‘paper’ is Buddhist Gold, and this blood... belongs to a Stranger. I know of one object that uses Buddhist Gold as the ‘paper’ and a Stranger’s blood as the ink. Could it be the Mara Sect’s Buddha Emperor Blood Sutra?”
He answered his own question a second later. “Yes, it has to be.”
Ye Qing asked curiously, “What is a Buddha Emperor Blood Sutra?”
“The Buddha Emperor Blood Sutra is a special sort of Buddhist sutra belonging to the Mara Sect. It uses Buddhist Gold as the ‘paper’ and a Stranger’s blood as the ink.”
Yi Pin explained, “It is not easy to create a Buddha Emperor Blood Sutra because several requirements must be met for it to be written successfully. First, one must acquire a sheet of Buddhist Gold. In the Mara Sect, gold was said to possess the power to suppress darkness and evil. That was why it was often used to forge Buddhist statues, Buddhist artifacts, and other items. The gold used to forge such items is called Buddhist Gold.”
“The Buddhist Gold paper where the Buddha Emperor Blood Sutra was written on is even more special. It was forged using an exclusive Mara Sect technique and empowered by a senior monk.”
“The Stranger blood used to write the Buddhist sutra is chosen carefully as well. You can’t just procure a random Stranger’s blood and hope to succeed. First, the Stranger must be at least a Disaster-class Stranger. Second, the Stranger must be in a berserk state. Only then could they ensure that the power within the blood would last a long time.”
“The final step is writing the Buddha Emperor Blood Sutra. The writer must be a powerful, enlightened senior monk whose Buddhist knowledge is as deep as his Buddhist heart is pure. This is partly because the Mara Sect’s Buddhism is steeped in darkness and anomalies, and also because the Stranger’s blood they used is overflowing with darkness and evil. Anomalous, terrifying phenomena occur very frequently when the sutra is being written, so if the monk writing the sutra possesses weak Buddhist knowledge, Buddhist heart, or strength, then they would very likely be corrupted by foreign evil and killed in the process.”
What do you think?
