“We’re discussing things only we understand.” Winters smiled as he took the tureen and placed it on the table.

The main courses were all served, and Winters glanced over at Majors Mel and Nevitz, nodding slightly: “Dear Seniors, forgive the limited conditions and humble hospitality.”

“Only foxes and wolves complain about the lack of a feast from their host,” Major Nevitz quoted a Paratu proverb and said, “It’s us who came without gifts that should apologize to you.”

Major Mel also smiled and nodded in thanks.

In fact, neither Major Mel nor Major Nevitz cared how many dishes were on the table, nor even if there were any dishes at all.

Winters Montagne hosted them in the form of a family dinner—this gesture of goodwill brought them more joy than any delicious food could.

Moreover, Winters Montagne had also invited a special guest—Mr. Alpha from Shovel Port, Lieutenant Axel Orange of the Provincial Army.

Being grandly invited to the “Civil Guard Officer” household as one of the “rebel” leaders made Axel visibly uncomfortable. Though he maintained decorum, there was an awkward and confused look in his eyes and tone.
