Chapter 167 – You really love me to death
Shen Yanshi was momentarily stunned, but then a smile spread across his lips, and the frustration that had been building up all day suddenly dissipated, leaving him feeling refreshed.
"Found it!" Xiang-Nuan exclaimed in delight, running over with an old iron box in her arms.
Shen Yanshi's smile lingered in his eyes, gentle and kind. "Found it so quickly?"
Xiang-Nuan was taken aback, feeling a bit flustered by his unexpected tenderness. She looked at him warily, "What's wrong with you?"
He had been sulking all day, and she had just managed to coax him into not holding a grudge. She thought he would at least keep that sour face until they got back to Peking City.
But in just ten minutes, he suddenly turned gentle and amiable, like a wolf in sheep's clothing, which was quite unsettling.
He raised an eyebrow, "What's wrong with me? I'm just happy you found your dowry."
Xiang-Nuan looked at him suspiciously and reached out to feel his forehead. No fever.
He took her hand and gently put it down, smiling softly, "Aren't you curious to see what your mom saved for your dowry?"
Xiang-Nuan opened her mouth, wanting to tell him to act normal, but swallowed the words back.
Better than sulking like a stubborn mule. Though his behavior was a bit odd now, it was less troublesome. She decided not to make a fuss.
Xiang-Nuan placed the iron box on the table and struggled to open it. When she couldn't, Shen Yanshi took it over and pried it open with an iron ruler. With a click, the box opened.
What do you think?
