Chapter 398: Entering the world tree part 1
Silva looked at the demon with rage in his eyes. What the demon had said was true—if he made a move, Amber might die. He could try to be fast or use his clones, but if this demon was telling the truth and was stronger than Zareth, then he would certainly be able to kill Amber in a split second.
Silva drew a deep breath to calm down. He closed his eyes and opened them. He stabbed his sword into the ground and stood straight.
"Tell me then, what exactly do you want her to do? I'll help you how I can as long as you let go of her after that," Silva said, making sure his stance was clear.
"I will let her go as long as she does what I want. I understand your strength, and I would hate for you to start chasing me all over the world.
This world tree belongs to us demons and the celestials, but after we left, it was given to the elves, a race that doesn't even have divine power. How stupid is that?
So now that we are back, we want the tree back, and with it, we will not only have the power to create the races, but we will also have the power to recreate this world, change it from what it is to what we want it to become.
And do you know why we want to do that? Well, we want to merge all the demons on all the continents and all this world. That goddess has used this world as a joke for too long, so we will change that and create a new world—a world where the strong rule.
If humans and all races want to survive, they will have to survive on their own," the demon explained.
"How do you know about what Ophelia did? You are not supposed to know that," Silva said.
"Hahahahaha, it seems you already know about it. That means he was right. He was right that she would tell the dark dragon about it and that this was the final chance for us.
He was right that if we kept warring and trying to destroy everything, it would give the dark dragon the opportunity to destroy this world. So that has been your plan—destroy the world and all of us in it," the demon said.
"Silva, what is he saying?" Aaron asked the question that was on everyone's mind.
"Oh, he hasn't told you? Well, it's not my place to say. I only steal identities; I don't tell people's secrets. That being said, this lady in my hands possesses the spirit of the tree, and I need her to access the innermost part of the tree with me and hand over all control," the demon said.
"She can't do that. The interior of the tree is filled with the purest and most potent power for creation and destruction. If she goes in there, she might not make it," Amber's father said.
"Ohhhh? I don't really care about that. All I want is for her to give me control of the tree. I don't care how long it takes or if it kills her—she will do what I want," the demon responded.
Silva pulled his sword from the ground. He stared at the demon and spoke, "You will not put her in such risk. If there is no other way, then it will not happen," he said.
"Oh, there is no other way, or more like I refuse to look for another way, Dark Dragon. You see, you could have stopped me, you could have fixed all these issues, but you allowed your love and care for this person to cloud your judgment.
You love her, don't you? Such a human emotion, yet it overpowers the one being that it should not—Pride. Pride is supposed to be your greatest emotion, it is supposed to be what drives you, it is supposed to be what keeps you going, not love.
You are a dragon—a dark one, to be precise. We created you with pride in mind. We made you to be a being of pure, unfiltered pride, not some loving creature.
I will be taking her into that tree, and I'll be making sure I get control of the tree. Now, you can try to stop me, at her risk, or you can find a way to make sure that she doesn't die. It's all your call, Dark Dragon. What will you do now?" the demon asked, tugging on Amber's hair as he spoke.
Silva frowned. He was backed into a corner now. He had no SP to try and get a skill or spell that would help. Amber's life was on the line, and he knew very well that this demon would spare no thought before killing her.
"Fine. She will go in, but I will go in with her. I'll be there to protect her from the energy within the tree," Silva said.
"Master, you might die in there," Drake said.
"And Amber won't? I don't have a choice, Drake. I have to save her, even if it will cost me. I won't allow her to die, and I won't allow anyone else to die," Silva said.
"You should listen to the vampire. Only with a coating of divine energy can you survive the tree. Even the elf girl has a better chance of survival—she is connected to the tree, after all," the demon said.
"That's none of my concern. If she is going in, I'll go with her. I'm sure that I can at least withstand the tree for a bit," Silva said.
"Hahaha, that's because what you see here is not the full tree. We will be heading to the core. When we arrive there, you will understand why your decision was stupid, Dark Dragon," the demon said.
"Enough of the talk. Just lead the way, and let's get this over with," Silva said. He just wanted to get her back already.
What do you think?
