"You refuse?"

The spirit was taken aback by Corey's words but Corey said nothing else. He looked at Rhea who was currently the size of an elephant, and then he spoke softly.

"Devour him."

"Cawww!!!"

With a delighted light in her eyes, Rhea cawed and then she opened her beak.

An extremely powerful suction was released from her mouth along with an ominous black mist. The spirit's eyes widened in shock and fear as it felt itself getting pulled towards Rhea.

"What is this?!"

The spirit screamed as it tried to fight the suction force, but it failed and was getting pulled towards Rhea.

The spirit was not the only thing that was being pulled towards Rhea, Corey's spiritual energy was being pulled and devoured by Rhea by a large amount.

If it were any other average Tier 3 that was in Corey's shoes, their spiritual energy would have been completely drained. However, because of Cosmic Soul and his talent of Omniscience, his spiritual energy was extremely vast.

Corey watched with calm and indifferent eyes as Rhea devoured his spiritual energy and was trying to devour the spirit of an Old One.

"What is this beast?! How is it able to affect me this much?!"

"This is not a beast but an abomination!"

The spirit roared, and Corey's brows rose when he saw the spirit unleash an attack at Rhea. The spirit slashed at Rhea, and Corey knew that Rhea would not be able to dodge the attack because of the ability she was using.

If she stopped using her devouring ability, she would be able to dodge the attack, but the spirit would be able to prepare countermeasures for the devouring ability before she's able to use it again.

As the spirit's attack moved towards Rhea, she had an extremely calm expression as she continued using her ability without reducing its output.

Why should she fear when her master who was slowly becoming a heaven defying monster?

Starlight from his Sea of Consciousness gathered at Corey's two fingers. A sword made entirely of starlight appeared on Corey's fingers, and then without wasting a single second, he slashed at the spirit's claw-like attack.

Corey's pure white eyes watched as his attack and the spirit's attack clashed, and although there was no cataclysmic explosion, only an explosion of multicoloured light.

A calculating light flashed in Corey's eyes as he watched both of their attacks nullifying one another. He was about to launch another attack, but then Rhea communicated with him.

The communication between him and Rhea was not like she was talking to him, instead, it was like he could perceive her intentions and what she wanted.

'I should not attack it? I should only block its attacks?'

Corey furrowed his brows slightly, and then he heard a caw in his mind.

"Hmm."

Corey lowered his hand, and then just as Rhea wanted, he didn't attack the spirit itself, only its attacks.

According to Rhea, his attacks would damage the spirit which would reduce the benefits she could gain from devouring the spirit.

As for the benefits she could gain from devouring the spirits, he had no idea what it was and Rhea could also not communicate it to him.

According to her, he'll have to wait till she was at least a Tier 4 or a Mystic Being before she's able to show him the benefits of devouring a fragment of the spirit of an Old One.

An unknown amount of time later, Rhea successfully devoured the spirit and then just like before, she went into a deep slumber to completely devour the energy and become a Tier 3 Spirit Devouring Bird.

Corey looked around, and then he shifted his attention to his physical body which was undergoing a tremendous change.

The moment Rhea devoured the spirit, he could feel a strange and unknown energy rampaging throughout his body.

Unlike the last time, he was not squirming in pain and he was not about to die. He controlled the energy and circulated it throughout his body.

With each circulation, his body became much stronger and he could feel his attributes increasing from a mere 10% to 25%, then to 40%, then to 65%, then to 75%, and then to 100%.

Even with his physical attributes being at 100%, there were still remnant energy in his body and he sent the energy to his Cosmic Soul and Sea of Consciousness.

The moment the energy entered his Sea of Consciousness, his Sea of Consciousness expanded by about 15%. As for his Cosmic Soul, the cracks on the egg-like shell increased slightly, and Corey knew that the energy from the Nightmare Finger was helpful to his Cosmic Soul.

'I wonder just how strong the Old Ones are for a mere finger to be able to increase my battle prowess by this much... Could they be comparable to the Supreme Ancestor and the Paragon Ancestor?'

'I doubt it though... Maybe they're a level below the Paragon Ancestor and the Supreme Ancestor because the two fragmented spirits have shown desire towards my body.'

Corey's expression changed slightly the moment he had this thought.

"That sounds so wrong."

Corey shook his head slightly, and then he clenched his fists with a fascinated expression.

"I wonder just how strong I am at the moment."

Corey exhaled deeply, and then he looked at the remaining notifications that had been flashing in front of his face for some time now.
