Sidekick Fights Back (Married The Protagonist’s Mother)

67. A Morning Meal

The bed was a beautiful, glorious mess—sheets tangled artfully, pillows scattered haphazardly, the air thick and heady with the lingering, intoxicating scent of sweat and unbridled passion. Bai Yunxi lay nestled beneath him, her pale, smooth thighs slick and glistening with the abundant evidence of their prolonged lovemaking, his seed mingling with her own sweet essence as it trickled slowly from between her legs.

Her chest rose and fell with shallow, satisfied breaths, her delicate skin glistening beautifully under the dim, flickering lantern glow. Jade-green eyes, warm and brimming with a profound, tender emotion, shimmered with unshed tears of happiness as she cupped Su Kang's face, her delicate fingers tracing along his sharp, handsome jawline.

Her lips, slightly parted and deliciously swollen from his passionate kisses, still bore faint, endearing smudges of her lipstick, while unruly, damp strands of dark hair clung attractively to her damp skin. The tender, sensitive slopes of her collarbone were beautifully littered with deepening, possessive love bites.

"I got carried away…" she murmured, her voice tinged with a sweet exhaustion yet undeniably laced with a deep, satiated warmth. "Mother-in-law's approval made me too happy."

She stirred slightly, attempting to shift, only to wince as a dull, pleasant ache spread through her thoroughly pleasured body. "My body… it's sore everywhere. I can't take any more…"

Su Kang withdrew from her slowly, his gaze instinctively drawn to the way his thick, milky release seeped languidly from her overstimulated core. The sight made his breath hitch, a fresh wave of desire stirring, but he resisted the urge to continue further. Instead, he reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers, a silent gesture of connection. She sighed contentedly, a small, deeply satisfied smile gracing her lips.

"You made such a mess," she whispered, her voice playful despite her profound fatigue. "It's your responsibility to clean it up now."

A smile tugged at Su Kang's lips as he leaned in, gently brushing aside the damp strands clinging to Bai Yunxi’s flushed, radiant face. He pressed a soft kiss to her sweat-kissed forehead, his breath warm and intimate against her sensitive skin. With a low murmur, his voice laced with promise, he said, “Then, wife, leave the rest to me.”

.....

The morning sun filtered through the ornate windows, casting a soft, warm glow over the room and tracing patterns on the silk bedding. Su Kang woke up feeling refreshed, a sense of quiet satisfaction settling within him. Bai Yunxi was nestled in his arms, her warm breath brushing rhythmically against his chest.

He shifted slightly, trying to pull his arm free from under her head. But the moment he moved, her delicate eyelashes trembled against her cheek, and her grip instinctively tightened around him, a soft murmur escaping her lips, as if unwilling to let go.

He frowned slightly. Still afraid of the dark? Her faint frown in sleep confirmed his suspicion—some remnants of the trauma from her physical reconstruction still lingered. Not wanting to disturb her rest, he quietly activated the Illusionary Dream Art

A soft pink glow, shimmered at his fingertips as he gently caressed her forehead. Almost instantly, Bai Yunxi's breathing deepened, her features softening completely as she slipped into a peaceful, undisturbed slumber. Carefully, he withdrew his arm and pulled the cool silk sheets higher over her exposed skin.

Leaning down, he tucked a stray strand of glossy black hair behind her ear and pressed a tender, lingering kiss on her cheek. "Sleep well, my love," he whispered, his voice a mere breath.

After dressing in a navy-blue and white robe, its fabric smooth against his skin, he adorned himself with his usual black-and-blue earrings and left the room quietly.

His first destination was Su Ting's residence. Before long, Su Ting stepped out, dressed in a simple light green robe that seemed too plain for his usual exuberance. He raised an eyebrow at Su Kang's unexpected visit.

"Come with me. Mother wants to talk," Su Kang's tone was calm but firm.

Su Ting blinked. "What's this about?" he asked, a flicker of apprehension in his eyes.

"I don't know. Let's go." Though puzzled, Su Ting didn't question further and followed Su Kang to their parents' residence.

Inside, the maids and servants had already arranged the table in the spacious hall. Plates of spiritual fruits, gleaming with morning dew, and spiritual dishes were neatly placed, their fragrant aroma – a mix of sweet blossoms and savory herbs – filling the air.

Su Ting casually picked up a golden-red ember-berry, its spiritual energy faintly flickering like a tiny captured flame, as he bit into it, savoring the sweet, slightly spicy taste. Meanwhile, Su Kang sat silently, closing his eyes as he waited.

A few moments later, Su Chen and Dong Yue entered the hall. Su Chen, their father, wore a loose brown robe, his presence imposing even in simple attire. Dong Yue was dressed in an elegant white and light-green ensemble, her movements graceful.

Su Ting, always the energetic one, quickly stood and greeted them first. "Good morning, Father, Mother! Did you rest well?"

Dong Yue's gaze shifted to Su Kang at those words, her eyes narrowing slightly, a pointed look that spoke volumes. Su Kang, feigning obliviousness under her scrutiny, calmly turned his attention to Su Ting, admiring his brother’s flawless features and the pristine state of his robe, untouched by even a speck of dust.

Dong Yue's lips curved slightly, a smile that held a hint of challenge. "Yes, after receiving such a wonderful, unexpected gift from your elder brother, I was so happy that I rested very well." Her tone was gentle, almost too sweet, but her eyes betrayed a different, more pointed story.

Su Kang let out an inaudible sigh, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. 'Mother, you don't have to be so obvious with your displeasure…'

They took their seats at the table, and Su Ting beamed, missing the subtle undercurrents. "Hahaha! I knew it! Mother must really like Sister-in-law! She's wonderful, isn't she?" he laughed heartily, already picturing Bai Yunxi charmingly winning their mother's favor.

Dong Yue arched a delicate brow, her interest genuinely piqued by his enthusiasm. "Oh? You seem quite familiar with her already. Tell me, what do you know about her?"

Su Ting puffed out his chest confidently, eager to share. "Of course! Sister-in-law is very mature. She handles difficult situations with ease—sometimes it even feels like she can read our thoughts!" He paused, trying to think of more compliments, but then… a realisation hit him, his confident expression faltering.

"Wait… where is she from again? What family is she from?" A faint awkwardness crept onto his face. "Ahem... and she's very beautiful! She and Brother are a perfect match!" He finished his sentence hastily, a nervous flush rising on his cheeks.

Dong Yue's lips curled into a knowing, amused smile as she observed Su Ting's flustered expression. "I see. Well then, let's begin our meal."

With that, they took their seats, and the servants swiftly brought out the morning dishes. Su Ting, eager to lighten the mood, began animatedly recounting his recent adventures near the Hundred Beast Mountain Range. Since he wasn't allowed to venture into truly dangerous zones yet, most of his stories revolved around roaming the outskirts and visiting a few minor secret realms.

Su Chen listened patiently, nodding occasionally, while Dong Yue sipped her fragrant tea, her gaze drifting back to Su Kang now and then—her thoughts unreadable. Su Kang, unfazed, focused on his meal, waiting for his mother to reveal the true reason for this sudden gathering.

After listening to Su Ting's words, Su Chen finally spoke. "Ting'er, your mother and I want to meet Yue Mei."

Su Ting's breath hitched. His hand froze mid-reach for a pastry. He had expected this, but now that it was happening, his heart pounded. 'They won't let this matter slide.' Yue Mei's true cultivation realm was a dangerous secret. If their parents discovered that they had been sheltering a Core Formation cultivator in the family without informing anyone, he wouldn't just be scolded—he would be beaten up and down.

Unconsciously, his gaze flickered toward Su Kang, hoping his elder brother would step in. Su Kang met his eyes and immediately understood his distress. However, he was also slightly wary of this situation. But with the artifact concealing Yue Mei's true realm, there was little to fear.

Taking a deep breath, he spoke. "Hmm… Su Ting, it's better to do this sooner. She is our guest, and it's only right for our family to know her well."

Dong Yue watched everything unfold with a soft smile, as if she had noticed nothing.

Su Ting had no choice but to nod. "Alright. I'll inform her."

"Good." Su Chen sighed, his sharp gaze lingering on his sons. Then, Su Chen turned toward Su Kang. "Su Kang, you will attend the next family meeting with us."

Su Kang, who had spent most of his recent years in Qingyun City, had largely distanced himself from family affairs. Dong Yue's voice was calm but firm. "Now that you are back, it's time for you to take part in the family's development."

Su Kang nodded. "Yes, I understand."

With that, the meal ended. Just as Su Kang was about to leave, his mother called out. "Su Kang, wait."

Su Ting glanced at him but didn't ask any questions. He simply gave a nod before excusing himself. Once his younger brother left, Su Chen turned to Su Kang. "Follow me."
