Chapter 265: Chapter 270: Writing a Self-criticism Report
“No way!”
“No way!”
Chen Yingjie and Mr. Hai shouted in unison.
“You must be the one to take him.” This damn kid, given an opportunity to get close, actually didn’t care for it. There are countless people who want to take him home!
“Alright then!”
In the end, with no choice left, Chen Yingjie drove while Xu Qigang personally escorted Mr. Hai back to the General Union Courtyard.
When they entered the main gate, the young comrade on guard saw that it was the old leader returning and nearly burst into tears of joy. The entire General Union Courtyard instantly became lively. The car hadn’t even made it halfway when people from the Hai Family, Su Family, and the Chen and Shen Families who had heard the news all came running out.
The jeep immediately stopped.
Xu Qigang, seeing so many leaders, swiftly opened the car door and got out. He turned to help Elder Hai out of the car, but Elder Hai moved back a little.
“Old leader, we’re home!” Xu Qigang said helplessly.
“Are we home already?” Elder Hai feigned confusion seriously. “I’m very tired, don’t disturb me.”
“Dad, hurry up and get out of the car! Otherwise, I’ll have to carry you out,” a middle-aged man’s voice said from outside the car, his tone frantic yet tinged with helplessness.
Elder Hai had secretly snuck out nearly half a month ago, frightening his son into almost mobilizing personnel from the Special Action Department to look for him. Just when he thought they wouldn’t find him, they planned to ask the War Wolf Rescue Team for help. But unexpectedly, he had returned so soon.
Elder Hai continued to play dumb, not responding to anyone.
“Dad… stop pretending! This time, think about what you need to write in your self-reflection!” the middle-aged man said good-naturedly.
Xu Qigang turned his head, his pupils contracted slightly, and he took a step back.
“War Wolf Rescue Team, Xu Qigang reporting!” His voice was deep and powerful, the kind that was particularly persuasive.
The middle-aged man was Elder Hai’s second son, Hai Shuangjie.
“It’s Captain Xu!” Hai Shuangjie said, a sinister smile on his face.
Xu Qigang nodded expressionlessly, seemingly not minding Hai Shuangjie’s attitude at all.
“Let me tell you, it’s thanks to Qigang that I was brought home, so be more polite to him,” Elder Hai began siding against his own from inside the car.
Hai Shuangjie, feeling angry yet dared not speak, nodded repeatedly. “Dad, I know, please get out of the car now.”
“Do I still need to write that self-reflection?”
“No need to write!” Every time it was tough dealing with this old man; only their eldest brother could keep an eye on him.
“Well then!” Finally free of writing self-reflection, Elder Hai cheerfully called Xu Qigang over and helped him out of the car.
Once out of the car, others around the courtyard chuckled and teased.
Old Sir Su walked slowly, having missed the spectacular scene, and couldn’t help expressing his regret. “Old man, I heard you just refused to get out of the car? How old are you to still be acting shamefully? I’m embarrassed for you.”
“Go away… How am I being shameful? I went to see my granddaughter, what’s that got to do with you?” When Hai Baichuan mentioned his granddaughter, everyone carefully stopped the topic.
“Alright, alright! Let’s just agree you’re impressive, yes? But even if you are looking for your granddaughter, you shouldn’t neglect your own health. How old are you? Still daring to run around?”
“I know! Just this last time!” Elder Hai’s hand, while holding Xu Qigang’s, kept trembling, not due to age, but because he was unwilling to give up.
What do you think?
