As Robin and the others left the interrogation hall of the Inspection Bureau, a sleek Mercedes-Benz pulled up. Daphne and Rita Clayton stepped out.
"Mr. Ramsey, please get in," Daphne said.
Without hesitation, Robin and his companions entered the car.
Daphne pointed toward a modest restaurant at the nearby intersection. "Mr. Ramsey, ever since you returned to the country, you've been constantly on the move, barely stopping to rest or cat.
"I've reserved a private dining room in that restaurant ahead. It's quiet, the atmosphere is pleasant, and they serve exquisite traditional cuisine.
"I know you don't like crowded places, so I found a spot that suits your taste."
Robin nodded. "Sounds good. Joanna's had a long day-she could use a break."
Shirley leaned in closer, resting against Robin like a contented cat. She hadn't spent much time with him lately and longed to be near him.
Feeling her warmth, Robin instinctively glanced at her. She was gazing at him with a dreamy expression, lost in thought.
