Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Misjudgment_1

Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Misjudgment_1 Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Misjudgment_1 Colin sized up the variety of items on his person and the people present, concluding that there was a chance to take on a third-stage “Beast Transformation Syndrome.”

Without delay, he took out the golden card, held the bone spur filled with black cracks in his right hand, ready to spring into action, planning to first stick it with a DEbuff Continuous Needle.

“Indeed, coming here ahead of time does present an opportunity to stop everything.”

As this thought just emerged, he heard the three-stage “Beast Transformation Syndrome” patient violently emit a deafening, inhuman roar.

Hearing the roar, Colin was startled, not because the sound was horrifying.

But because the roar conveyed one message…

“Run!”

“Run?”

As he wondered, Colin’s scalp tingled, his eyes widened with horror as he saw a monstrous hand, devoid of skin, its blood vessels and muscles exposed to the air, reach out from behind the pitch-black door.

The hand effortlessly grabbed the “Beast Transformation Syndrome” monster, which was roaring, like picking up a rag doll and dragged it back into the darkness behind the door.

Craaaack, crunch…

From the shadows beyond the door, the sound of chewing and swallowing echoed, and rapidly approached the door. Before long, everyone saw a gigantic beastly face appear behind it.

The three to four meters high church door could only reveal the upper half of its face.

In the half-face’s constantly chewing mouth, the three-stage Beast Transformation Syndrome—just like a small rat bitten in a cat’s mouth—was evident as the creature that had rushed out to warn the others to flee.

“Damn! What the hell kind of monster is this?!”

Colin was profoundly shaken, feeling as though he himself was the little rat under the bed, with a huge head stretching down from above.

He couldn’t even begin to imagine the massive body of that flesh-and-blood, skinless goliath behind the door.

Not only him, but everyone present was also stunned by this terrifying scene.

Some even lost their strength and collapsed…

Run!

The only thought possible in Colin’s mind was to escape.

He was even starting to doubt the “Book of Fate,” which had indicated that after fighting desperately with the monster, he would ultimately escape. Could he actually have a physical altercation with this thing?

Perhaps the premonition was too flattering towards him…

However, before Colin could even move to flee, a figure broke the terrifying silence before anyone else, the peculiar man in red who seemed like an outsider, as if he had not arrived through company channels.

The man in red quickly rushed towards the colossal half-face emerging behind the door, his hands pressed together in a prayer-like gesture.

His speed was like that of a cheetah.

Just as Colin thought he had some trump card to counter the monster that was probably larger than a three to five-story building, the man in red leapt and plunged into the mouth of the giant beast behind the door.

Crunch, crunch…

The skinless beast’s lower jaw masticated, and the man in red was crushed like a sugary tangerine, his bright red juices spilling all over the ground.

Buddy, are you here to be a clown?

Colin didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, unable to comprehend the perplexing human behavior.

But before he could think further, a strong sense of crisis welled up within him.

In that moment, Colin realized something and without any hesitation, he used “Time Stasis.”

Almost simultaneously, a giant, flesh-exposed hand, much like a train emerging from a tunnel, stretched forth from behind the three-meter-tall door.

It extended dozens of meters in an instant, aiming straight for Colin at the center of the hall.

Its speed was so fast that most people couldn’t react…

Some people in front of Colin were merely touched and died on the spot.

But as it reached within fifteen meters, the entire arm’s speed suddenly slowed, clearly under the influence of “Time Stasis.”

“It can be confirmed as Beast Transformation Syndrome, but this limb extension… Is it a new ability?”

Colin glanced at the huge blood-red beast’s claw without much thought, grabbed Tang Ken’s shoulder beside him, and quickly retreated.

As for the other guards, he simply couldn’t afford to care about them right now.

Ratatatat…

The moment the Time Stop effect wore off, the giant palm slammed down causing a noticeable vibration in the entire Church hall.

“Run!”

After dodging the sudden attack, Colin turned and ran without a moment’s hesitation.

When the wind is tight, it’s time to bolt!

The situation had somewhat exceeded his expectations; the enemy was far more terrifying than he had imagined.

He had assumed his opponent would be a creature affected by Beast Transformation Syndrome, likely in the third stage or perhaps a bit higher.

But seeing just the tip of the iceberg that emerged from behind the door, it seemed that the creature’s size alone likely exceeded ten meters.

Not something that could be dealt with by ordinary means…

Indeed, only such a form could match the description “an unimaginably terrifying life form.”

And only such a form could enforce a complete lock down of an entire city.

Colin felt that to deal with a creature of this size, they would probably need to deploy the military, tanks, fighter jets, and whatnot.

No, even then it might not be enough to kill it, because it also had the ability “Deadly Insight”, making it extremely difficult to achieve a one-hit kill.

“Bishop Laurenson has failed! At all costs, control it! It must not be allowed to leave, or the whole Southern Border will face a horrific catastrophe!”

The roar of Father Alenna came from behind.

Colin was somewhat surprised to hear this voice, and at that moment, he realized…

The battle mentioned in the Book of Fate had been fought by these priests, who likely had prepared for failure even before the ceremony began.

That’s why the unprecedented Beast Transformation Syndrome monster had been bound within the hall, unable to escape for now.

But this was only temporary…

Colin could see that the monster was currently in an incomplete state.

Once it reached its full form, he feared nothing in the town would be able to contain it any longer!

“It’s impossible to start with the monster itself, need to find a way to control the outbreak of Beast Transformation Syndrome outside; at the very least, find the cause of the outbreak!”

As Colin ran wildly, he made rapid decisions in his mind.

However, halfway through his escape, he realized something was off.

The Holy Healing Church’s members weren’t running, which was one thing, but why weren’t the rioters running either?
