SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire

Chapter 35 - 35 35 Saving the Fallen Hero_1

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Saving the Fallen Hero_1 Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Saving the Fallen Hero_1 “That area is relatively desolate, with some people possessing magic-like abilities. There’s the danger of encountering unknown high-risk monsters, food is scarce, and there’s special and unusual weather, so I suggest starting from these aspects. As for restrictions on the items you can carry, there aren’t any,”

Magic, high-risk monsters, scarce food, strange weather… Tang Ken nodded and sat back down, “Understood, thank you for your answer.”

He wasn’t surprised by the talk of monsters.

After arriving here, even if the person in front of him said tomorrow was the end of the world, he would believe it.

Seeing that both of the others had asked questions, the fellow in construction, Li Ming, hesitated, wondering if he should also ask something. Thus, he raised his left hand and asked an inconsequential question.

“Sir Bonfire Agent, will we be asked to do inhumane, bloody, and cruel things?”

To this question, Tang Ken didn’t seem particularly concerned. In his view, going to other worlds and even foreseeing conflicts that could result in death was to be expected, while Lin Yilan seemed to care but apparently didn’t have a strong resistance to it.

Colin took note of their expressions. If he were to quantify their moral compass, it would probably be Li Ming—Lin Yilan—Tang Ken.

Then, he shook his head and responded:

“Basically, no.”

After briefly answering everyone’s questions, Colin dismissed the meeting and told everyone to start preparing from now on.

When the last person disappeared from the office, Colin also returned to reality.

“These five incidents, it seems, indeed didn’t mention that Human Patchwork Monster. The threat that, in my opinion, reached the sky actually didn’t have much of a follow-up.”

Colin sat in his wheelchair, thinking over today’s updated tasks.

It appeared that the Bonfire Company really didn’t care much about this…

But on further thought, the Bonfire Company had already mastered the method of descent across worlds and could even create items related to time.

The things it showed far exceeded reality.

The only uncertainty was where it came from, which side it belonged to. Colin didn’t naively think that this was something Earth people could come up with.

If it were possible, Earth would have already entered an interstellar civilization society.

After a moment of meaningless speculation, Colin collected his thoughts.

The next day, Monday, eleven fifty-nine in the morning.

Colin’s gaze drifted away from the clock on the wall, and then he lay on the bed, eyes closed, silently waiting for a while until the distant and ancient sound rang in his ears on schedule.

“Dong— Dong— Dong—”

When Colin opened his eyes, he saw the overwhelming gray mist slowly receding, revealing the familiar interior of a church in front of him.

This descent didn’t bring any unexpected incidents.

The dark church, the myriad of bodies sprawled across the floor, the stifling air, and the locked doors… Colin looked around. Everything was much the same as when he left last week.

“My body is back to its normal state, but upon feeling it now, it’s not my body, although it’s healthy, it still feels a bit uncomfortable.”

Colin looked at his own hands. Aside from the pale skin and slightly longer body hair, there was almost no sign that he was a patient with Beast Transformation Syndrome.

However, he felt deep down the “quality” of the Beast Transformation Syndrome had grown more pronounced.

“If I use this power, I’ll need to be cautious. Otherwise, I might suddenly go crazy. The task is the company’s, but the life is mine, and I certainly don’t want the next successor’s task to mention me with ‘Former Company Employee’.”

Colin took a deep breath, reined in his thoughts, and noticed his clothes, torn to tatters, much like fragments. He pursed his lips, glad that he had anticipated this and had taken underwear and a set of pajamas from the “Storage Room” to wear.

Afterward, he casually grabbed a set of villager’s clothes to put on over his, covering up the clothes that were out of place in this world.

“The people here seem to have a habit of not wearing underwear.”

Last time Colin was in prison, there was nothing inside his trousers, which felt somewhat improper.

This time he brought a few extra pairs.

Then, he silently recited the name of Bonfire Company in his heart to strengthen the connection, before preparing to complete that task to establish a “Bonfire Sacrificial Site”.

But as soon as he reinforced the connection, he noticed that the “task bar” in his mind was flashing continuously.

This seemed to indicate that some tasks had already been completed.

“That’s strange, I haven’t even started on any tasks yet.”

Colin opened it subconsciously and was taken aback by the information inside.

To his surprise, the task column, which he thought had only five tasks, suddenly had over a dozen new tasks, with nearly half of them already completed.

[Event 17 “Take a breath of fresh air from ‘World Code-13′” completed: 20 Bonfire Points.]

[Event 18 “Observe the architectural style of ‘World Code-13′” completed: 50 Bonfire Points.]

[Event 21 “Take the first step of a human from Earth onto ‘World Code-13′” completed: 20 Bonfire Points.]

[Event 9 “Encounter the forms of life activity on ‘World Code-13’…”]

“Fuck, can you even do tasks like this? Is this the benefit of having a leader?”

Colin was dumbstruck. He had barely been here for two minutes and had already earned nearly three hundred points.

Miss Bunny really went all out when she helped apply for the side tasks!

The uncompleted tasks, most of them are not difficult either, belonging to the kind that one could easily finish naturally after staying for a while.

That means, at the very least, there’s a guaranteed five hundred points just from being here.

As for those tasks with specific requirements, like [Event 6 “Find the child of the mother with Beast Transformation Syndrome”] or [Event 7 “Kill the guarding monster outside the door”], they’d require a bit more thought.

Colin checked the tasks with certain demands and found those related to the “Brave Ones”.

[Event 9: “Rescue the fallen Brave Ones”].

This task was similar to the one during his first descent when he was tasked to find a former colleague. When he focused on it, Colin could feel a signal emitting from a direction one and a half hour clock position away from him.

The distance was uncertain, but definitely much farther than the first time.

It might take two or three days of nonstop travel to reach there.

“Even if they can’t survive for a month, they should last for ten days or more, so there’s no need to hurry. However, this time, only by completing Event 5 can I return to reality, there’s no mention of being able to go back if anything else is accomplished…”

Colin frowned slightly, the remaining time for Event 5 had refreshed, now it showed “167 hours 57 minutes 31 seconds” until the end.

Doesn’t that mean he has to stay for seven full days before returning?

What a headache…

“Forget it, it’s not like it was in prison last time. I won’t be sent to the Holy Healing Church again, nor will I encounter that shitty priest or ‘him’, so if I just lie low, there shouldn’t be any problems.”

Colin smacked his lips, feeling the only issue might be that the food wouldn’t be enough.

But conserving a bit, he should manage for seven days with no problems.
