Chapter 569 - 569 571 Snacks for Drinks
Chapter 569: Chapter 571: Snacks for Drinks Chapter 569: Chapter 571: Snacks for Drinks “Sss…”
Liu Sisi immediately drew in a breath of cold air and said, “My God, does it make that much money?”
“Doesn’t it?” Xiao Han nodded and replied, “The daily turnover is over two hundred thousand. It really does make a lot of money.”
“That’s more than our clinic makes in a whole year!” Liu Sisi exclaimed.
“First of all, the dishes here are quite distinctive. Second, the students in the surrounding area have strong spending power,” Xiao Han said with a smile. “Finally, the person in charge of this restaurant really knows how to market. He always manages to attract the local residents to spend their money here.”
Liu Sisi sighed and said, “That’s impressive!”
Xiao Han thought to himself that he was the person in charge of the restaurant. Was he boasting about his own business?
Liu Sisi’s lips curled up in a smile as she said, “That shows the person in charge is really capable. To be able to run such a large restaurant so well.”
Soon, the dishes Xiao Han had ordered arrived one after the other.
Seeing those impressive dishes, Liu Sisi seemed a bit shocked. Faced with a whole roasted suckling pig, she said in surprise, “How… how do you eat this?”
“Eat the skin,” Xiao Han laughed. “Dip it in the sauce.”
Liu Sisi followed Xiao Han’s lead, taking a piece of the roasted suckling pig’s skin and dipping it into the sweet bean sauce before taking a bite. The taste was amazing. She couldn’t help but eat several pieces in one go. Savoring the flavor, she said, “It’s wonderful, really tasty.”
“Isn’t it?” Xiao Han nodded and then said, “It really is very good.”
“This sliced duck is also delicious,” Liu Sisi quickly praised.
Although there were only four dishes, each was a signature dish of the restaurant and quite expensive, especially the roasted suckling pig, which alone cost three hundred and eighty-eight yuan. A meal came close to a thousand yuan. Such expensive prices really made it unaffordable for many. Of course, dishes like the roasted suckling pig were rarely ordered except for large student gatherings or group meals.
When it came time to pay the bill, Liu Sisi was a bit startled by the cost of over eight hundred yuan.
“This expensive?” Liu Sisi marveled.
“It’s okay,” Xiao Han said as he paid. Then he smiled and added, “It’s getting late, shall I take you back?”
“Sure,” Liu Sisi replied with a slight blush, then said, “It’s a shame to leave so much food; I’ll pack it up.”
“Okay!” Xiao Han agreed. He immediately had the waiter bring over two takeaway boxes. After all, only two people were dining, and there was so much food left, especially since Liu Sisi had a small appetite and was already full after eating a bit, leaving most of the dishes on the table uneaten.
Leaving the restaurant, it was already dark outside, and the streetlights were lit. A queue of people lined up at the entrance of the restaurant.
“Xiao Han!” Suddenly, a voice called out from the line of people.
“Zhang Feng?” Xiao Han looked at Zhang Feng.
Zhang Feng and Xiaohua were together in line, waiting to eat, and they spotted Xiao Han as he came out of the restaurant.
“I’m treating Xiaohua to dinner,” Zhang Feng chuckled and asked, “Have you guys finished eating?”
“Yes, we have,” Xiao Han nodded, then said, “I’m going to take Sisi back to the clinic, we’ll talk later.”
“Sure!” Zhang Feng nodded with a sly smile on his face.
The journey back was smooth sailing considering it was rush hour; surprisingly, there was no traffic. This indeed took Xiao Han by surprise.
He managed to take Liu Sisi back to Kangning Clinic without any trouble.
“Xiao Han, thank you for dinner today,” Liu Sisi said daintily, her doe-like eyes seemingly speaking words of their own.
“It’s nothing,” Xiao Han smiled, then added, “We can eat together again when you’re free.”
“Great!” Liu Sisi nodded but then quickly said, “Next time, it’s my treat.”
“That works!” Xiao Han responded immediately, nodding his head.
Afterward, Xiao Han drove away. Liu Sisi watched his retreating figure, a satisfied smile on her face. She remained there until Xiao Han’s car disappeared from her sight, then she turned around and entered the house.
Seeing his daughter return, Old Man Liu heaved a sigh and said, “Sisi, you’re back?”
“Dad, have you had your dinner yet?” Liu Sisi hurriedly asked.
“Ah…” Old Man Liu glanced at his daughter and said, “Sisi, while you’re out enjoying good food and drinks, spare a thought for me, alone at home eating radishes and cabbage, how pitiful.”
Liu Sisi was taken aback, then laughed and said, “Didn’t I leave you some dishes at lunchtime?”
“They’ve gone bad,” Old Man Liu said with a wry smile.
“No worries, I’ve brought some back for you,” Liu Sisi said, carrying the leftovers she had packed from Hanmen Restaurant. She then added cheerily, “Look, they’re all delicious dishes.”
He opened the box, and waves of delicious aroma drifted out.
“What dish is this, so fragrant?” Old Man Liu rejoiced.
“Roast suckling pig, Peking duck, and more…” Liu Sisi hurriedly said.
Old Man Liu seemed very happy, and he quickly said, “Quick… go get my liquor, it’s truly my daughter who is thoughtful. These are all excellent dishes to accompany a drink!”
Old Man Liu dearly loved baijiu, but though he enjoyed drinking, he never overdid it, and never indulged excessively. Drinking, in his opinion, should be done in moderation. Excess could harm the body. As a doctor, he understood this very well.
“You should drink less!” Liu Sisi brought over the baijiu and a glass for her father.
Old Man Liu appeared very happy.
In the clinic, some people were getting IV drips, idly watching television.
At this moment, an idle elderly woman came over and asked, “Old Liu, does your daughter have a boyfriend?”
“No!” Old Man Liu shook his head.
“How about… I set up a match for you?” the elderly woman hurriedly said, “I know a fine young man who is good-looking and has his own house and car. His family conditions are also quite good. Would you consider it…”
“No consideration!” Liu Sisi, who overheard, quickly came over and said, “I already have a boyfriend.”
“Ah…” The elderly woman was taken aback and said, “Sisi, don’t be too resistant to matchmaking. It’s our tradition, and matchmaking has its benefits—it’s about getting to know each other, unlike with men one meets on their own, who are not mutually acquainted, are unknown quantities…”
The elderly woman’s monologue made Liu Sisi very uncomfortable.
“Old lady, did you come here to see a doctor or to do matchmaking?” Liu Sisi frowned, now dressed in a white lab coat.
“I…” The elderly woman stammered.
“Alright, sit tight now.” Liu Sisi said with a smile, “I’ll take your blood pressure and see how you are doing.”
“Okay, okay!” The elderly woman immediately nodded.
Liu Sisi was most annoyed with these people who were obsessed with matchmaking. This old lady had a son who was now in his thirties and still didn’t have a girlfriend. Instead of worrying about her own son, she busily meddled in others’ affairs. Sisi grew impatient and unwilling to be troubled by such concerns.
…………
Xiao Han drove back to the school.
The car stopped in the faculty parking lot, and then he walked back to the dormitory from there.
Just as he reached the dormitory entrance, he was halted by a voice: “Xiao Han…”
Behind him, a voice came through, and Xiao Han quickly stopped in his tracks, turning to look. To his surprise, it was a familiar face. Xiao Han said in astonishment, “Liu Yiyi?!”
“Haven’t seen you for a few days.” Liu Yiyi, in a white long dress and a smile on her face, still had her waterfall-like long hair, a tall figure, and an extraordinary presence, with a goddess hairband on her head. Perhaps because she had studied dance since she was young, whenever she stood somewhere, her temperament stood out immensely. Ordinary girls paled next to her and felt naturally ashamed. Liu Yiyi maintained a smile as she walked slowly toward Xiao Han.
“Do… do you need something from me?” Xiao Han asked.
“I want to talk to you,” Liu Yiyi said seriously to Xiao Han.
“About what?” Xiao Han was somewhat cold, clearly having lost the favorable impression he once had when he first saw Liu Yiyi. There was none of the initial amazement and admiration left.
Since the last time he saw Liu Yiyi being surrounded and idolized by Qin Xiaotian in the cafeteria, Xiao Han’s slight affection for her had completely vanished. Therefore, upon seeing Liu Yiyi again, he had nothing but complaints.
“You are prejudiced against me,” Liu Yiyi looked at Xiao Han and said, “Can’t you give me a chance?”
“What sort of chance?” Xiao Han looked at Liu Yiyi, curious.
“A chance to explain,” Liu Yiyi said.
“I am quite curious, why do you feel you need to explain anything to me?” Xiao Han asked, puzzled, “You and I are not in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, we can’t even be called friends. Why do you need to explain anything to me?”
Xiao Han’s words deeply disappointed Liu Yiyi. A shade of sadness crossed her face as she gazed at Xiao Han, her beautiful eyes locked on his, and after a long moment, she said, “I never expected I would be just nobody to you. I always thought of you as a friend, but in your heart, I’m not even that. It seems I was deluding myself… sorry to have bothered you!”
Having said that, Liu Yiyi bowed to Xiao Han, then turned and left.
The moment she turned around, Liu Yiyi covered her mouth with a hand, evidently hurt by what Xiao Han had said.
In her mind, the image of the Prince Charming seemed to collapse in an instant. To be honest, Liu Yiyi had a very good impression of Xiao Han; even if it wasn’t perfect, it was definitely a high score of ninety out of a hundred. Just from this point, Xiao Han held a good image in Liu Yiyi’s heart.
Especially since the new student welcome gala of their department, Liu Yiyi had admired Xiao Han’s guzheng performance and his talent to create paintings with splashed ink. Since then, Xiao Han had left an indelible impression in her heart. Moreover, she had often wanted to talk to Xiao Han. But considering her own health and her relationship with the Qin family, she had never mustered the courage.
Screech…
Suddenly, a sharp sound of brakes rang out from beside them.
What do you think?
