Chapter 248 248: Might of the Aura Explosion
Third Person's POV
A beastly roar tore from his throat as in a desperate act of survival, he unleashed a full-force aura explosion.
It was an invisible yet crushing blast force that blasted outward and threw the shadowy assailant back like a ragdoll.
Finally, with a moment's reprieve, the knight staggered upright though his breath was heavy with immense rage.
Bloodlust churned in his burning scarlet eyes as his head jerked toward the culprit—the one who had dared ambush him.
The blurry shadow sent flying by the knight hurtled toward the reception desks and crashed through them like a cannonball.
The shattered glass exploded in every direction as the force of the aura explosion sent him skidding further and further as he tere through multiple display cases where weapons had been meticulously arranged.
His relentless momentum only ceased when his body slammed against a solid stone pillar with a resounding thud and shook the very foundation of the hall.
As the dust settled, a striking figure was revealed.
It was Ethan but his violet hair was now disheveled and his cold red eyes gleamed with an unyielding murderous intent.
A thin trickle of blood trailed from the corner of his lips, which he wiped away with the back of his hand before rising to his feet in utter silence.
In his grasp, the Black Dragon Saber hung loose though its dark blade still hummed with barely contained power.
With an effortless flick of his wrist, he spun it in his palm and that subtle motion itself exuded a dangerous calm.
Not a single word left his lips as his gaze locked onto the black knight, whose raging roars abruptly ceased the moment he recognized his ambusher.
A thick and tense silence blanketed the hall and was broken only by the distant murmurs of spectators who started trickling in from every entrance.
They were obviously drawn by the explosive commotion.
Seeing that, a dark shimmer flickered across Ethan's neck, and his dark magic coiled around his face and formed a soft velvety black mask that concealed his features, leaving only his piercing crimson eyes and tousled hair visible.
Across the hall, Virelle and Velcy's expressions wavered between joy and concern as they rushed toward him with Aurae trailing behind them in a silent but watchful stance.
Meanwhile, the sallow-faced young master who had been frozen in place like a gaping corpse finally snapped back to reality.
His initial shock and fear morphed into seething fury and he bellowed without care for the growing audience.
"Lance, what are you doing?! Stop those sluts!"
His crude words sliced through the silence but they were met with something far colder and that was Ethan's gaze.
The young demon found himself under an oppressive stare as those blood-red eyes seemed to hold a silent promise of violence.
A shudder ran through the crowd as Ethan finally spoke.
His voice was slow and deliberate and dripped with an icy finality that sent chills down the spine of every listener.
"Who are you, trash?... forget it, don't bother answering. I will shut and crush that filthy mouth myself."
A collective shudder rippled through the onlookers and even the once-bellowing black knight grew silent.
Then, for the first time, he spoke.
His voice was deep and thunderous as a growl resonating with an overwhelming sense of power erupted from his mouth.
"You don't know who you are dealing with, brat. Don't get so cocky."
The sheer force of his words rumbled like an impending storm but Ethan remained unfazed.
He didn't flinch and didn't blink.
He simply continued staring down the young demon whose arrogance wavered for the first time and cracks of unease started flickering across his expression.
Embarrassment quickly twisted into rage as the young master's face burned with humiliation.
His momentary hesitation vanished and was replaced by blind fury as he barked his command with venomous desperation.
"Lance! Break every bone in his body and drag him to me!"
But the response he received wasn't immediate obedience.
Instead, the black knight turned his head slightly and his crimson gaze shifted toward his so-called master.
When he finally spoke, his tone was cold and almost indifferent.
"I am not your slave, young heir, so watch your tone when you speak to me," the black knight stated coldly and his deep voice was laced with indifference.
"As for this one, you needn't concern yourself. I will deal with him accordingly for his cowardly ambush."
The young master's eyes flickered with venomous resentment at the knight's audacity.
How dare this so-called servant rebuke him so publicly? The sheer gall of it made his blood boil.
But he swallowed his indignation and forced himself to maintain an air of haughty composure and merely nodded with feigned magnanimity.
Ethan who was observing their exchange simply scoffed.
Without a word, he gestured for the girls to step back and blend into the crowd.
As they moved, dark chains sprouted from his hands and wound around his forearms like sentient serpents.
In his left hand, the crystal-green dagger gleamed ominously while in his right, the dark saber rested with its chilling presence amplifying the tension in the air.
His stance was sharp and his body was coiled like a predator ready to strike.
Without a doubt, the black knight before him was one of the deadliest foes he had ever encountered.
The sheer weight of his oppressive aura and the raw power simmering beneath his form was enough to send lesser warriors into a state of despair.
Countless calculations ran through Ethan's mind and each one only ended up sharpening his wariness.
Yet at the same time, a dangerous fire ignited within him.
His battle spirit surged and burned even hotter than ever before.
That aura blast… there is no mistaking it.
Sky Realm.
Though judging by the unstable fluctuations in his energy, he has most likely only recently ascended.
A sharp exhale left Ethan's lips.
This means that his control over his newfound strength isn't yet perfect.
What do you think?
