# Chapter 4: The S-Class Revelation

The next morning, Aldryn arrived at Meeks’ quarters unannounced. Meeks was still hunched over the Beginner Spellbook, practicing simple mana exercises, when the Headmaster materialized in a flicker of silver light.

“It’s time,” Aldryn said without preamble.

“Time for what?” Meeks asked, nearly dropping the spellbook in surprise.

“To assess your talents formally. All new students undergo an evaluation to determine their class and specialization.”

Meeks hesitated. ‘Class? Like the System mentioned?’ He glanced at his interface, which still listed his class as **Adaptive Innovator**.

Aldryn led him through winding corridors to a grand chamber deep within the academy. The room was circular, its walls lined with ancient tapestries depicting mages and inventors working side by side. At its center stood a pedestal holding a massive, prismatic crystal that pulsed with inner light.

“Place your hand on the Mana Convergence Crystal,” Aldryn instructed. “It will measure your innate potential and assign you a class.”

Meeks stepped forward, eyeing the crystal warily. ‘This feels like a job interview… but with magic.’

As his palm touched the crystal’s surface, the room erupted in light.

---

### **System Alert:**

External scan detected!

Adjusting parameters to integrate Draconic Constitution…

---

The crystal’s glow intensified, shifting from white to gold, then to a deep, iridescent violet. Symbols flashed across its surface—runes Meeks couldn’t decipher—while Aldryn’s normally composed expression cracked into outright astonishment.

“Impossible…” the Headmaster murmured.

The crystal shuddered, and a resonant voice echoed through the chamber:

**“Candidate: Meeks Vail**

**Class: Arcane Technomancer (S-Class)**

**Specialization: Synthesis of Magic and Advanced Technology**

**Mana Affinity Rating: S+**

**Innovation Potential: EX”**

Silence fell.

Aldryn stared at Meeks as though seeing him for the first time. “S-Class… Only three students in this academy’s history have ever received such a designation.”

Before Meeks could respond, the System interface flared to life.

---

### **Class Evolution Unlocked!**

**Previous Class:** Adaptive Innovator

**New Class:** Arcane Technomancer (S-Class)

**Class Traits:**

- **Technomagic Synthesis:** Merge spells with mechanical/electronic principles.

- **Mana Circuit Overdrive:** Temporarily boost spell potency by 300% (1/day).

- **Reverse Engineering:** Analyze and replicate any magical or technological device.

**New Attribute Bonuses:**

- Intelligence: 15 → 20

- Creativity: 12 → 18

- Mana Affinity: 18 → 25 (S+)

- Physical Strength: 15 → 20

---

Meeks staggered as energy surged through him—a tidal wave of clarity and power. His senses sharpened; he could suddenly *see* the mana flowing through the room like glowing threads.

Aldryn gripped his shoulder, steadying him. “What just happened?”

“My System… it upgraded me,” Meeks said breathlessly.

The Headmaster’s eyes narrowed. “Fascinating. Your external class assessment and internal System are synchronized. This explains the crystal’s unprecedented reaction.”

---

### **New Quest Assigned!**

**Quest:** Attend Your First S-Class Lecture

Objective: Report to Lecture Hall 7 within the hour.

Reward: Basic Technomagic Toolkit | +100 XP

---

Aldryn glanced at the floating System screen, though Meeks wasn’t sure if he could actually see it. “Come. Your new classmates will be… *curious* about you.”

The lecture hall was nothing like Meeks expected. Instead of desks, it had floating workstations equipped with holographic interfaces, enchanted tools, and half-disassembled devices that buzzed with magical energy. Seven students lounged around the room—all eyeing Meeks with varying degrees of skepticism and intrigue.

A woman with crimson hair and goggles perched on her forehead snorted as he entered. “Another prodigy? Let’s hope this one lasts longer than the last.”

Aldryn silenced her with a look. “Meeks Vail has been assigned to S-Class due to his unique capabilities. You will treat him as an equal.”

As the Headmaster left, the students descended on Meeks like wolves.

“What’s your specialization?” demanded a lanky boy with mechanical arms.

“Can you actually *do* anything, or did the crystal glitch?” sneered the crimson-haired woman.

Meeks opened his mouth to reply when the System intervened.

---

### **Analysis Complete:**

- **Mechanical Arms:** Grade B artifice limbs (weakness: mana interference at joints).

- **Goggles:** Enhanced vision module (flaw: limited infrared range).

---

A grin spread across Meeks’ face. “Your arms could use a mana-shielded capacitor to prevent overload,” he said casually to the boy. Then, turning to the woman: “And your goggles? Adjust the focal crystal by 0.3 microns. They’ll work better in low light.”

The room fell silent.

“How did you—?” the boy began.

Meeks tapped his temple. “Let’s just say I’ve got a… *system* for spotting weaknesses.”

For the first time, the S-Class students looked at him with something resembling respect.

---

That night, alone in his quarters, Meeks examined his new toolkit—a set of tools that shifted between screwdrivers, wands, and data crystals at his touch. The System glowed approvingly.

[You are adapting faster than anticipated.]

‘Yeah,’ Meeks thought, staring at his reflection in a polished mana crystal. ‘Maybe being ordinary was never my destiny after all.’
