Chapter 1141: Fallen King’s Tomb (7)

Chapter 1141: Fallen King’s Tomb (7)

‘I thought I was going to spend hours listening to the old man talk.’

It was nice to finish work early.

‘Resting while having a cup of coffee would be perfect.’

If the Fallen King had been a chatterbox, it would have been a really painful time. If we were on our continent, I would listen to him with a lot of interest, but he was alive during Rohen’s Golden Civilization era of whatever, which had nothing to do with me.

Nam Goong-Seon was the only one who listened. She seemed interested in their records, but she also seemed out of it because of the radiant light.

“Wooow…” Lim Chae-Ryeong exclaimed unknowingly, and she hurriedly covered her mouth. She probably saw my face. She had to have exclaimed because she was happy about clearing the dungeon and witnessing something beautiful.

The moment she noticed how I faced death as a mere twenty-three-year-old, she could no longer express the same emotions.

“...”

Of course, Jung Ha-Yan looked at me with wide eyes.

“O-Oppa… y-you’ve become… a f-flower,” Jung Ha-Yan said.

'This is your first time seeing me as Flower Ki-Young, isn't it?'

“T-The flower that’s shining from your body… m-me and… S-Sora, look at—” Jung Ha-Yan paused.

‘Sora’s not here…’

“O-O-Oppa… b-became a flower,” Jung Ha-Yan added.

I was comforting the cursed ones while wearing a crown made out of light. The light coming from my fingertips purified the darkness, and flowers of light bloomed throughout the tomb.

The way the flowers fully bloomed before fading away was mesmerizing even in my eyes. The brilliant light was so overwhelming that I wondered if I was going to go blind, but it actually enveloped the party members in a warm and comforting light.

“It’s warm…” Nam Goong-Seon mumbled.

‘I’m sure these undead creatures are thinking the same thing.’

Of course, holy power wasn't exactly a friendly energy for undead creatures, but at least they wouldn't experience pain as if they were burning in hell. As their lingering grudges faded away, they’d probably experience some positive effects.

The sight was something out of a fairy tale, so of course, everyone had their own opinions about it.

“I… finally realized it,” No Dam-Hye said.

‘What have you realized, Dam-Hye?’

“The reason… I joined this party. I thought… it was a pull of fate or something beyond words, but…” No Dam-Hye paused.

‘There’s no such thing.’

“...”

“I think I’m here to tell people about sights like this,” No Dam-Hye continued.

‘That’s not true. You’re a combatant as well. You have to awaken as well.’

“I think I was given the role of a bard… to tell these stories,” No Dam-Hye added.

No Dam-Hye suddenly started playing music.

‘What’s with the music all of a sudden? Why are you acting out?’

The atmosphere was so serious that I doubted if background music was even necessary, but the background music was starting to overwhelm me.

I was worried she was going to write a song about the Fallen King on the spot and start singing, but it was clear that No Dam-Hye was speechless. Thankfully, the party members didn’t seem to think much about it.

‘Yeah, I should just let them do whatever they want.’

I couldn’t really understand those who called themselves artists, but letting them do whatever they wanted was the most efficient way of doing things.

It actually wasn’t that bad. The Saint of Flower and Fertility would eventually leave this place anyway. A song to remember me would be advantageous for me in many ways. This could actually be good for those with old-fashioned tastes. It would be cheesy to hear people say, “Grandpa is getting all sentimental,” but there was a market for it.

The scene was kind of cheesy, but watching the situation from the sidelines wasn’t that bad. A requiem for the wandering souls filled the stone chamber along with the light. As the music played, radiant light illuminated the place, creating a holy atmosphere.

— T-Thanks, Rohen’s descendants.

“...”

— Thanks…

The Fallen King and his loyal subjects transformed into gimmering blue dust and scattered in the air.

[Level 3 Dungeon. The Fallen King’s Tomb has been cleared.]

A small message popped up, but I was sure everyone felt like they had achieved something great. They probably wanted to cheer, but due to the serious atmosphere, they were feeling wary.

I clapped as if it weren't a big deal and said, “We cleared the first dungeon.”

“...”

“Great work, everyone,” I said.

And that was when they started cheering…

Heh… hehehe…

Aaaaah! Unni! Unni! We did it!” Lim Chae-Ryeong shouted.

“I-I got it, so give me some space, Chae-Ryeong,” Nam Goong-Seon said.

Hm… I’m glad,” Raymond said.

“We did it. We actually did it,” Lim Chae-Ryeong mumbled.

Of course, someone was bound to ruin the mood.

As I expected, Woo Hyo-Yeol couldn’t read the room and said, “How ridiculous. It was just a Level 3 dungeon.”

“Do you really have to say that?” Lim Chae-Ryeong questioned.

Hmph.

“It’s worth celebrating. More importantly, we cleared the dungeon as a party. The beginning is half the journey. The result wasn’t bad… and I managed to take care of the homework I couldn't finish because of the party,” I said.

“...”

“...”

“Homework?” he asked.

“I took on some debt to prepare for the expedition,” I answered.

“What?”

‘Why are you acting as if you’re in a bad mood?’

“It’s not a lot. I borrowed the money legally. I borrowed it using my name, so you don’t have to worry too much,” I reassured him.

“...”

“Of course, the debt isn’t the only homework. I’m sure you realized it as well, but the entire party needs to increase their stats. The preparation wasn't that expensive, but renting decent equipment requires a lot of gold.

"It’s true that I’m kind of disappointed by the fact that it’s Level 3 gear, but the rewards of this dungeon are even better than I thought,” I explained.

“...”

“And more importantly,” I paused.

“Wow!!! A-Awesome! Awesome!”

I succeeded in getting the GENIUSES' attention.

I was already getting congratulatory messages for clearing a Level 3 dungeon, and I was sure it was the same for the others. Woo Hyo-Yeol and Jung Ha-Yan could grow stronger without the GENIUSES’ help, but it wasn’t the case for the other party members.

Between Nam Goong-Seon, Lim Chae-Ryeong, Raymond Bolt, and No Dam-Hye, Nam Goong-Seon was in a better situation because she had been receiving support from low-ranking gods.

Raymond Bolt looked like he had a GENIUS as well, but since he hadn't been on the frontline for quite a while now, he clearly wasn't receiving any support from his GENIUS. I was sure Lim Chae-Ryeong had never received any attention from a GENIUS.

No Dam-Hye was a non-combatant, so she was excluded.

Basically, the members who weren’t receiving attention were getting a lot of attention.

The party members’ futures were guaranteed thanks to Woo Hyo-Yeol, Jung Ha-Yan, and myself. I had a hunch that they would become huge, but we cleared the Level 3 dungeon without many issues, and they had proven their worth as well.

Instead of getting carried, they had proven that they were worth the investment, so of course, the GENIUSES were feeling agitated.

Ah! Thank you! Five hundred coins… ah… a thousand coins! Thank you very much for the donations!”

“...”

“Thank you, A Gentle Glow that Reassures the Forgotten. I’ll work even harder. Ah… you didn’t have to donate so much…”

“...” “I appreciate it.”

Grandpa Raymond Bolt said nothing, but I saw him mumbling quietly to himself. The sight made me think that it had been a while since he communicated with the GENIUSES.

And that was when I heard a loud voice...

Ahhhhhh! What the heeeeeeeeeeell! Five thousand coins! Five thousand coins!!! Who was it? Thank you so much! I won’t forget your kindness!”

‘It’s to be expected since Woo Hyo-Yeol trained her.’

“W-What?! What the heck? I… I feel strange right now. Wow! Woooow!”

‘You’re making a big deal out of this.’

Of course, this wasn’t the end.

Huh? Huh? I-I…!”

“...”

“I… think I got chosen.”

“...”

“W-Wait, I’m getting too many messages… Hold on. Wait. I-I don’t think I should decide by myself. I’m sorry, GENIUSES. Please wait a moment,” Lim Chae-Ryeong said.

“...” “Mr. Lee Ki-Young, what should I do? R-Right now! The GENIUSES…”

‘This is important.’

“Just… calm down…” I told her.

Ah, right! I-I need to calm down. I need to calm down, but right now, they keep—”

“How many of them are there?” I asked.

“I’m not sure. A-about ten… GENIUSES have chosen me… Wait, there are more…” Lim Chae-Ryeong answered.

“I think it’s best if you ask about the jobs you can get,” I suggested.

“C-Can I do that?” Lim Chae-Ryeong asked.

‘Why not? You’re the one in charge right now.’

“Yes, you have to do that,” I answered.

[Gatekeeper of Heaven♥ says they recommend the Bird Engulfed in Flames. They said they already sent a message to Player Lim Chae-Ryeong and that they’ll give a special gift that’s different from the other GENIUSES.]

[The Ancient Scripture warns that the Bird Engulfed in Flames will not be a good match for Player Lim Chae-Ryeong.]

[Gatekeeper of Heaven♥ laughs in disbelief.]

[The Ancient Scripture mumbles that they see potential in her becoming a holy knight.]

[The Slender Tentacle Queen♥ is starting to take an interest in Player Lim Chae-Ryeong. She says that corrupting her will be a rewarding task.]

[He Who Sits on the Golden Throne♥ is asking about Player Raymond Bolt. He’s asking if there’s a chance he might choose another GENIUS, but adds that he wants to watch him a little bit more.]

[The Bluebird Cries Mournfully is wondering which GENIUSES sent a message to Player Lim Chae-Ryeong.]

‘Yeah, I’m curious as well.’

As expected, it became a chaotic party.

Some GENIUSES were making indirect requests, while others showed interest in the party members. Many messages were saying that it was fine or that it wasn’t fine, along with other excuses. It was so rowdy that the chaos was comparable to the Demon King of Sunset's first appearance.

The GENIUSES with hearts were at least being respectful. However, the insignificant gods whose names I had never even heard of until now were making a big deal, so I couldn’t help but think that there was a trap card here.

“The first GENIUS is the Mother of Six Spirits. She said she’d give me the Level 3 Spirit Rogue job! She said she’ll also give me a ring that will increase my affinity with spirits!” Lim Chae-Ryeong said.

‘A Spirit Rogue? The name alone already makes it sound like a useless job.’

“Th-That’s not all. She said she’ll give me Sylph’s Boots as well! She’ll also keep donating coins… and update my job each time I level up…” Lim Chae-Ryeong added.

‘All these gifts are making me feel uneasy.’

“The second GENIUS is the Bird Engulfed in Flames! They said that they could offer a unique job to me, and it's called Fire Walker! Wow! I can use fire mage buffs without any penalties…” Lim Chae-Ryeong said.

“...”

“T-The third one is…” Lim Chae-Ryeong trailed off.

‘It’s a hassle trying to pick out the trap cards…’

I thought Woo Hyo-Yeol wasn't interested, but he quietly approached us.

“A Spirit Rogue? That sounds pretty—” I remarked.

“Right?! Not bad, right? Spirit Rogue!” Lim Chae-Ryeong interrupted me.

As expected, I immediately heard his voice.

Hmph.
