Alice excitedly asked, “Is this a gift from Uncle to Mommy?”

Catherine looked at the shoes in her hand, vaguely responded. The tag was torn off, and the box was gone, only placed in an ordinary cloth bag, yet she could still feel the man’s thoughtfulness.

She squatted down to put on the shoes, and instantly her feet felt as if they were released from shackles. Although the rubbed part still hurt, it was much more comfortable for her.

She took Alice’s hand again, mother and daughter walked towards home.

Today she met Nancy Newman; given Nancy’s dislike for her, she would definitely tell Foster Newman about her presence. When he gets drunk, he might come looking for her, so she needed to move as soon as possible.

“Then why does Mommy sigh?” Alice asked Catherine, tilting her beautiful little face up.

Catherine, shocked by her daughter’s question, touched her daughter’s forehead with her fingertip, “Alright, alright, Mommy will not sigh anymore.”

“Hmm, and Alice is not a little rascal.” Alice nodded in satisfaction and then reminded her mom.
