Chapter 818: Chapter 818: Some things of the past will eventually pass

The dinner party lasted until eleven o’clock at night before ending. Abigail and Brandon Piers saw off Headmaster Theodore and a few senior fellows, then took Noel Roberts and others outside of the manor, while Pullan directly drove Lena Locke and others back to the school.

Church Smith and Clara Smith had been arranged to go to the guest room to rest early on.

After everyone dispersed, Brandon Piers, holding Abigail’s hand, strolled leisurely on the manor’s bluestone-paved path, talking about some insignificant trivial matters, when they noticed a servant rushing towards the direction of Moon Lake.

Abigail recognized the person; it was the special nurse watching over Eva Bell.

Both feeling a strange emotion, they glanced at each other and followed, only to see the maid rushing back from the lakeside and running into Abigail and Brandon Piers, with her plump face awkwardly flushed red, “Second Young Master, Young Mistress.”

“What’s the matter?” Brandon Piers asked with a stern face.

“It’s like this, just now the mistress woke up and drank her medicine, and then insisted on having watermelon to satisfy her craving. I went to look in the kitchen, but when I came back, she was gone. I asked the security, and they said she didn’t leave, so I thought to look for her within the manor,” the maid answered anxiously.

Abigail frowned, “Let’s ask Uncle Piers to have everyone search together. It’s late at night, and her health is not good. It wouldn’t be good if something happened.”

“No need,” Brandon said, and after checking his phone, he instructed the maid standing by, “I know where the mistress is. You go Rest.”

After speaking, Brandon led Abigail towards another side of Moon Lake.

Abigail had lived by Moon Lake for quite a while, but due to various reasons, she actually hadn’t spent much time inside, so she didn’t know Moon Lake very well. Now seeing Brandon leading her towards the northeast corner, she felt puzzled, “Why would Eva Bell go there?”

She had vaguely heard Uncle Piers mention that that place was an orchard with many fruit trees, but there shouldn’t be any fruits in winter now.

“You’ll know when we get there.” Brandon Piers didn’t answer Abigail’s question but just held her hand tighter.

After walking for quite a while, they finally arrived. The moonlight was good that night, and most of the leaves in the woods had already fallen, stepping on them gave a comfortable soft feeling. Abigail didn’t think someone with Eva Bell’s personality would come here, but she trusted Brandon’s judgment and obediently followed.

“Is that… persimmons?” Abigail didn’t find Eva Bell at first, but she saw a tree filled with orange-red fruits, not large, but unusually red, covering the entire tree as if dabbed on by a brush soaked in cinnabar, and the tree branches were artistically bent, probably quite old. Abigail asked and then realized those were persimmons.

She had never seen such a big persimmon tree before, unlike the common ones outside, and she felt a bit surprised, but in the next moment, she saw the hem of a dress inadvertently sticking out from behind the thick trunk, and she subconsciously turned her head to look at Brandon.
