Chapter 791: Chapter 791: Brandon Piers, you are a liar!
Brandon Piers saw Abigail and Benjamin Jones standing together from a distance; displeasure flashed in his eyes. His mind conjured the photograph Pullan sent from the Smith family. Though the two of them displayed no overt intimacy, they seemed particularly well-matched and harmonious. Seeing that they were both dressed in black, Benjamin in a black suit and Abigail in a black, slightly formal dress, it appeared as if they were wearing couple’s outfits.
Brandon glanced at his own silver suit and felt a pang of displeasure.
Brandon’s not-so-great mood focused on Abigail, and the thinly veiled coldness in his gaze made Abigail hesitate. She had been about to approach him after several days apart.
Their eyes met, and unspoken emotions clashed in the air between them.
Oblivious reporters nearby frantically took photos, interpreting the scene as a moment of deep, mutual affection.
But only the people involved knew it was anything but affectionate. One was laced with jealousy; the other, anger.
Fortunately, the sound of camera shutters kept their basic rationality intact.
Brandon’s steps subconsciously quickened as he reached Abigail and Benjamin, restraining his jealousy as he spoke to them, “Let’s go inside.”
Abigail had too many questions for the despicable man in front of her. However, the courtroom was ahead, and a swarm of reporters was behind them; it was not the right time to interrogate him. She could only follow them into the courtroom, stifling her questions.
As soon as they entered the courtroom, the judge announced the commencement of the trial.
Abigail had no opportunity to communicate with Brandon. Benjamin quietly relayed to Brandon what he had previously told Abigail: the prosecution had received new evidence.
Brandon’s expression didn’t change upon hearing this. He merely glanced at Abigail, who looked clearly distressed in the audience, and sighed lightly before saying to Benjamin, “I know.”
Benjamin looked at Brandon and wasn’t surprised that he had received the message. However, he was unsure whether Brandon meant he knew the prosecution had received new evidence or if he knew the details of the evidence.
“Sorry, this might ruin Lawyer Jones’ reputation.” As Benjamin pondered, Brandon slowly added, resolving Benjamin’s confusion.
What do you think?
