Chapter 416 - 416 416 The Pig is Here
Chapter 416: Chapter 416: The Pig is Here Chapter 416: Chapter 416: The Pig is Here Half an hour.
Abigail Green was chased and beaten by Old Mr. Smith in the courtyard for half an hour.
If Abigail hadn’t been able to avoid it every time, Pullan would have really lost control and rushed up.
Fortunately, after half an hour, Old Mr. Smith finally got tired. He pointed at Abigail with a bamboo stick. “You lucky dog.”
Abigail was speechless. “…” Old Mr. Smith really turned bad while she was gone.
He even called her a dog!
“Pullan, get me a cup of water.” Abigail panted and shouted. Her body was still not in good shape. In the past, she could dodge her grandfather’s whip for at least an hour without panting.
The servant Pullan hurried to pour Abigail a cup of hot tea. “Madam, please drink.”
Abigail took it and gulped it down, handing the cup back to Pullan. “Another.”
Pullan hurried to refill the water.
Old Mr. Smith got angry. “Do you think this is your home?”
“I… haven’t seen anyone chase and beat their guests either,” Abigail retorted.
“Have you ever seen anyone give water to their guests after beating them?” He hadn’t even had a drink himself!
Abigail, “…Well, you do have a point. But are you an ordinary household? No, you’re not.”
Just as she finished speaking, Pullan handed the water over. “Madam, your water.”
Abigail took it, sipped it slowly, and gave Old Mr. Smith a sidelong glance, as if saying, “What can you do to me?”
Old Smith got even angrier. “Right, you just said your name was what?”
“Abigail Green, surname Green, given name Abigail,” she answered with a smile. Finally, the old man was willing to listen to her.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, Old Mr. Smith glared furiously. “How dare you call yourself Abigail? I think you’d be better off named fat girl Green.”
Abigail, “…”
What kind of hatred is this?
“Why do they call you ‘Madam’? How old are you, and you’re already a ‘Madam’?” Before she could answer, Old Mr. Smith continued to ask in his usual rude tone.
Abigail wasn’t angry. Instead, she felt like her grandfather finally asked a question she could answer. “They call me ‘Madam’ because I’m their young master’s wife. As for my age, I’m 19, not that young.”
Talking about her age made Abigail a bit uncomfortable.
Old Mr. Smith listened to Abigail’s answer, feeling absurd and unreasonable. He glared at her, “So young and already married, and without a marriage certificate? What kind of guarantee is that? I think you’re not just fat but also dumb.”
Pullan wanted to rush up and punch the old man again.
Abigail awkwardly touched her nose, then with a soft and cute face said, “No choice, my husband is super handsome. I was afraid if I waited too long, someone else would snatch him away.”
Old Mr. Smith, “…you…”
Abigail smiled.
Pullan looked at the image on his phone, feeling that the young master’s life had reached its peak at this moment.
His own life would also reach its peak!
“Come with me.” Old Smith, out of breath from anger, suddenly walked back to his room and threw this sentence at Abigail.
Abigail curled her lips and was about to follow but was blocked by Pullan. “Madam, be careful. I think this old man has some abilities. You were able to dodge in the courtyard because it’s big, and you have some basic skills in Tai Chi. But going into the room is like…” being a sitting duck.
Pullan couldn’t think of a better term and hoped Abigail would understand.
Abigail gave Pullan a disdainful look. “Don’t worry. I won’t get hit again.”
Pullan didn’t believe her.
Unfortunately, Abigail already walked towards the room.
Still unable to relax, Pullan prepared to follow when the old man threw out another sentence, “Tell that silly boy to get out!”
Pullan, “…”
If it weren’t for fear of making Madam angry, he would’ve wanted the old man to experience his silly iron fists.
“Wait outside,” Abigail said as she entered the room.
Old Mr. Smith sat in the middle hall. “Kneel.”
Abigail instinctively knelt with a thud. She wished she could slap herself afterward.
“Humph, disgraceful!” Old Mr. Smith scolded coldly. “What’s going on?”
“What do you mean what’s going on?” Abigail plastered on a fake smile, looking at the old man.
Smack!
The bamboo stick hit the ground with a loud crack, scaring Abigail into shrinking. She looked up at the old man with a pitiful expression. “I don’t know.”
“You became this mess and don’t know how?” Old Mr. Smith continued to scold.
Abigail muttered softly, “You just said I was chubby and tender-skinned.”
Old Mr. Smith stood up angrily, wanting to shout but afraid of being heard by outsiders. “How dare you talk back?”
“I…okay, fine. You’re the greatest in the world.” Abigail gave up. This really was a different identity but the same fate.
She thought she might have developed Stockholm syndrome from being beaten by her grandfather all these years.
Hearing this, Old Mr. Smith’s eyes reddened immediately. “You ungrateful thing. How dare you come back? I’ve raised you for so many years, and now you turn out like this and even get married? Did you ask for my opinion?”
“You said it; without a marriage certificate, it’s not considered married.” Abigail had never seen her grandfather cry and panicked a little, trying to explain.
Old Mr. Smith heard, “Really?”
“Really,” Abigail sighed helplessly.
But the next thing Old Mr. Smith couldn’t help asking, “What’s going on? How did you become like this?”
If not for how she dodged his hits earlier—steps that were familiar to him, or the reactions of Nancy earlier, along with his strong gut feeling—he would never have linked this seemingly unrelated girl to his granddaughter.
“I don’t know either. I opened my eyes and ended up like this. When I asked around, they said I was gone.” This life encounter felt absurd to her, let alone others.
Yet, this absurd thing had really happened. Thinking about it, Abigail looked up. “Grandpa, how did you recognize me?”
“I raised you. I’d recognize you even if turned to ashes.”
Abigail, “…”
She regretted it. Could she go back in time?
Who needed such an old man?
“Don’t even think about it, it’s too late to regret now,” Church Smith seemed to see through his granddaughter’s thoughts and cursed under his breath.
“Fine.” Abigail resigned herself. “Can I stand up now? My knees hurt.”
“Fragile.” Though Old Mr. Smith scolded, he didn’t stop her.
Abigail still had bruised knees from yesterday’s surgery, and kneeling hurt a lot. On top of that, her legs had just taken three strikes, so she hurriedly sat on a chair she found. “Well, yeah, I’m a nineteen-year-old girl now.”
“Humph!” Old Mr. Smith snorted, but looking at the chubby girl before him felt much better. He sighed lightly, “Being fat is okay. It’s better than looking skinny and unwanted.”
Abigail, “…” Could this old man say something nice?
He was still the same grandpa.
“Yes, now I’m plump and rounded. That’s why I got married early. Are you happy?” Abigail found humor in her misery.
Old Mr. Smith still wasn’t used to her appearance but had accepted she was Abigail. “Whose pig is this?”
Knock, knock, knock…
At this moment, there was a series of strong, rhythmic knocks at the door. The force of the knocking made the whole house tremble.
Abigail was stunned. “The pig has arrived.”
What do you think?
