Chapter 166: Chapter 167 You must save him!
Old Madam Chu and Chu Yu hadn’t even noticed Pei Huaian standing nearby, their gazes fixated solely on Shao He.
“Shao He, you must help Yuyu, you must save him!” Old Madam pushed away the nanny’s hand and rushed to grab Shao He, pleading.
Faced with this sudden plea, Shao He was temporarily taken aback. Chu Yu then added, “Shao He, I know I’ve been wrong in the past. I shouldn’t have doubted you—it was all my fault.”
Shao He eyed the deceitful mother and son, unsure of their intentions this time, and pushed them away with a frown, asking coldly, “Aren’t you trying to scheme something?”
“No, it’s not that,” Old Madam hesitated, unsure how to begin.
It was Nanny Xu who came over and explained softly, “Madam, the Marquis is unwell and wishes for your help to examine him.”
“It’s best to be careful with your words, nanny. There is no ‘madam’ here, only a female doctor,” Shao He replied coolly.
Nanny Xu, unfazed by her cold demeanor, touched her own mouth in a feigned manner, “It’s this old servant’s mistake, I misspoke.”
“Shao He, Luo Jiner has already suffered the consequences of her actions. We all trust you, and Yuyu holds deep feelings for you, his past actions being the result of misleading instigations. He has sincerely changed now,” explained the Old Madam.
“Moreover, there’s a child between you both. Do you really have the heart to let the child grow up fatherless?” Old Madam earnestly persuaded, hoping to sway her.
The cold expression on Shao He’s face finally softened a bit, and after a moment of thought, she said, “Alright, I’ll try.”
“Wonderful, wonderful,” Old Madam said excitedly, pulling Chu Yu to sit down.
Upon hearing Shao He agreeing, Pei Huaian felt a mix of emotions, mistakenly believing she still had feelings for Chu Yu. A dark glint flashed across his eyes, but he said nothing and continued to sip his tea.
Shao He placed her hand on his wrist to take his pulse, and after a while, she asked, “Is it azoospermia?”
All three were silent, Shao He realizing they already knew what illness Chu Yu had and had specifically sought her out for treatment.
“Let’s draw some blood first.” Shao He promptly took out the necessary equipment, rolled up his sleeve to reveal his firm forearm, and prepared to draw blood.
At that moment, Chu Yu suddenly grabbed her wrist, his expression complex, and asked, “Why do you need to draw blood?”
Shao He furrowed her brows, a trace of impatience in her eyes, but remembering her task, she suppressed her anger and explained, “It’s for tests, just like some surgeries require cutting open the stomach. So, do you want the treatment or not? If not, leave quickly.”
“Treat, treat, draw the blood,” Old Madam quickly interjected, fearful that Shao He might really refuse to treat him; she signaled to Chu Yu.
Pei Huaian, looking at that hand, wished he could chop it off. He gripped his teacup tightly, soon creating a crack on it, as the tea slowly dripped through the fissure.
Chu Yu knew he had no other choice and slowly released his hand.
Shao He drew the blood and upon returning gave Chu Yu Sperm-Solidifying Kidney-Strengthening Pills to placate him, advising him to abstain for a while and take this medicine over a long period.
Just as Chu Yu was about to say something, holding her hand, Pei Huaian walked over with a sly smile and inquired, “What is Sperm-Solidifying Kidney-Strengthening Pills?”
“It’s for men with azoospermia to regulate their body and help gradually restore normal function,” Shao He quickly withdrew her hand and explained.
“Oh?” After hearing her explanation, Pei Huaian looked enlightened, “So, the Marquis is impotent!”
This remark was not loud, but it was loud enough for everyone present to hear.
Chu Yu, his face darkened, glanced at Chu Yu, unable to say anything due to his status, and could only rush off as if fleeing.
Old Madam and Nanny Xu also hurried away, as this was not a matter to be proud of.
“It seems his frequent indulgence in bed has left him incapable now,” Pei Huaian mocked.
Shao He, with a mischievous glint in her eyes, stroked her chin and smiled, asking, “Do you also want a blood test?”
“No need!”
Pei Huaian was so angry he almost spat blood; he thought Shao He suspected he was also incapable, so she was preparing to test him.
“Just a blood test, it will be good for your health,” Shao He urged again.
Pei Huaian, glaring at her through gritted teeth, declared, “I have no need for that kind of test and don’t require any checks.”
Seeing his adamant refusal, Shao He could only give up, shaking her head in regret.
In truth, she had agreed to treat Chu Yu not out of genuine concern but to use the opportunity to obtain his blood for a paternity test.
Shao He was eager to leave early today; she was desperate to know if the child was indeed Chu Yu’s.
Upon returning home, Nanny Zhang was surprised to see her come back so early and said, “Miss, why did you come back so early today? I haven’t finished cooking yet.”
“No worries, go ahead and cook. I’ll take care of Xiao Linzhang,” Shao He said after washing her hands and taking the child.
Once she confirmed Nanny Zhang had left, she pricked Xiao Linzhang’s heel with a needle, took some blood, and tested it alongside Chu Yu’s blood. As she watched the colors on the test strip without any change, her dangling heart finally settled, confirming the child was unrelated to him.
Her expression turned grave immediately; now that it was confirmed the child was not related to Chu Yu, whose child was it?
The images of that night resurfaced in her mind—the man with his dynamic movements and the birthmark on his waist, all coinciding with Pei Huaian.
What do you think?
