Chapter 164: Chapter 165: Want to Find Shao He for Treatment
“How could this be, how could this be…” Old Madam nearly passed out from lack of breath.
Imperial Doctor Xu noticed something was wrong and immediately stepped forward to administer acupuncture, successfully reviving Old Madam from her fainting spell.
Chu Yu supported Old Madam as he looked towards Imperial Doctor Xu, “Is it my fault that we’ve been unable to have children? Am I the one you referred to as azoospermic?”
Although he was reluctant to believe such a matter, judging by his grandmother’s reaction, there was no doubt.
“Yes.” Imperial Doctor Xu sighed.
Chu Yu’s complexion turned pale, his turbid eyes flickering with a strange light, “How could I possibly be, how could I…”
“Impossible, I have no discomfort in sexual matters, how could I have such a problem?”
“This issue has nothing to do with sexual activity, just like a woman who has taken Sterility Medicine, it simply means there will be no progeny,” explained Imperial Doctor Xu.
Only then did Chu Yu understand, and he grabbed Imperial Doctor Xu’s wrist, “Since you know the symptoms, you must be able to cure it, right?”
“I’m sorry, My Lord, but I am powerless to help,” Imperial Doctor Xu knew of the condition, yet had no ability to cure it.
Chu Yu let go of him, dejected, “Imperial Doctor Xu, please proceed with the diagnosis. Whatever medicine is needed, I will cover all the costs.”
Imperial Doctor Xu shook his head with a sigh, “This kind of thing cannot be cured with medicine, and I don’t have that kind of ability.”
Old Madam Chu saw that Imperial Doctor Xu truly couldn’t cure it and immediately had a nanny fetch some silver, making sure to send him to the door herself.
“Please keep this matter confidential, Imperial Doctor.”
Imperial Doctor Xu, looking at the heavy silver in his hand, also understood this was not something to take pride in, as it would certainly tarnish the reputation of Marquis Pingnan’s Mansion if word got out.
“I understand,” he replied.
Old Madam watched as Imperial Doctor Xu left, feeling a pang of pain in her chest.
“What to do, what to do!”
Nanny Xu had already heard about the Marquis’s plight and, seeing Old Madam in such a state, consoled her: “Old Madam, don’t be too heartbroken. The Marquis still has a lost heir out there, and besides, with your medical skills, perhaps you could heal the Marquis?”
Upon hearing this, Old Madam grasped the nanny’s hand excitedly, “Yes, there is Shao He, her medical skills are so impressive, she must be able to heal Yuyu.”
“But I’m afraid…”
“Afraid of what? She was so heartless in the past all because of Luo Jiner. If it hadn’t been for Luo Jiner seducing Yuyu, how would he have wronged Shao He? Shao He will surely understand the difficulties Yuyu faced,” Old Madam said through clenched teeth with hatred.
By now, she utterly detested Luo Jiner, blaming her for her great-grandchild’s misfortune.
“Exactly! Old Madam is absolutely right. Lady Shao is the epitome of kindness; she will surely empathize with the Marquis’s plight and then all will be restored,” the nanny spoke reassuringly, though inwardly she couldn’t help but worry. Lady Shao was known to hold grudges. What if she sought vengeance? What then would the Marquis do?
Old Madam didn’t think too much about it; she believed Shao He was simply angry for the moment, and as long as Luo Jiner was dealt with, she would surely return to Marquis Pingnan’s Mansion.
As for Luo Jiner, Old Madam had long been wanting to rid herself of this vile woman. Had it not been for her, how could Yuyu have fallen under her spell!
Over the years, Yuyu had pampered her, obeying her every wish. Now, this glory would no longer fall upon her.
Old Madam returned to her room and immediately expressed her thoughts, “Yuyu, as a man, you must take responsibility. Deal with that woman quickly, and make sure that Shao He’s child is recognized and brought back to the family.”
Chu Yu wholeheartedly agreed. He had long intended to handle Luo Jiner; if it weren’t for Old Madam’s intervention last time, Luo Jiner wouldn’t know how many times she’d have died already.
“Very well, Grandmother, rest assured that I will take care of this matter thoroughly.”
Chu Yu pondered how to deal with Luo Jiner. Directly arranging for someone to finish her off in secret was an option, but he feared Lady Shao wouldn’t be satisfied with that outcome.
After mulling it over, he decided to try a different method.
“Looking at your crestfallen face, have you encountered some difficulty in the Imperial Court?” Old Madam masked the shrewd look in her eyes.
These days, Chu Yu was crestfallen every day. Upon returning to the mansion, he would head straight to his study, and even when he came to pay respects to her, he seemed distracted.
That’s when Old Madam speculated that perhaps there were problems at the Imperial Court.
“It’s all trivial matters, not worth troubling Grandmother over,” Chu Yu managed to force a faint smile.
Nowadays, he found it increasingly difficult to assert himself in court. No matter what he did, someone always found fault, and this made it harder to suppress his inner turmoil. Furthermore, after these recent events, The Emperor’s attitude towards him seemed to be shifting.
“Alright, if you don’t wish to speak, I won’t force you. However, I’ve heard that Miss Liang’s father might be appointed as Minister of Personnel. You must not lose this marriage opportunity; it might serve your future well,” Old Madam remarked, eliciting a nod from Chu Yu.
He knew that to gain a firm foothold in the Imperial Court, he needed powerful connections. The Minister of Personnel was the foremost among the chief ministers, an appointment that would be greatly beneficial to him.
“Very well, you handle the other matters. I’m also a bit tired; you may leave,” Old Madam said, rising wearily and walking to the inner chamber with the nanny’s assistance.
A sinister expression crossed Chu Yu’s eyes. This time, he was eager to see what Luo Jiner could use to save herself.
What do you think?
