Shao He watched the departing figure and thanked Yan Ze, “Thank you, Master Yan, for your timely rescue.”

“It’s a trivial matter, not worth mentioning, but why did Chu Yu suddenly change his attitude towards you so drastically?” Yan Ze asked with a curiosity akin to a child’s.

He had heard that Chu Yu had visited Anji Hall more than once or twice bearing gifts, and truly couldn’t understand what was going on between them.

“Maybe his head got caught in a door,” Shao He replied dismissively and then returned to tending to her shop.

Yan Ze stroked his chin, feeling that the likelihood of Chu Yu’s head having been caught in a door was quite high.

It was rare for Shao He to enjoy a moment of quiet, and with that, her irritation also vanished.

A figure approached her, and as Shao He looked up, she was slightly taken aback.

“Miss Liang? What brings you here? Are you feeling unwell?” Shao He asked, maintaining the demeanor of a doctor.

Liang Weishuang sat on her chair and said in a low voice, “I wanted to talk to you about something. Is there a misunderstanding between you and Luo Jiner?”

“Misunderstanding? There’s no misunderstanding between us,” Shao He replied with an indifferent tone.

Liang Weishuang noticed her cold tone and knew she didn’t want to hear anything about Luo Jiner, but she still wanted to clarify, “You both are my friends, and I don’t want to hurt either of you, nor do I wish for any misunderstandings between you.”

Shao He knew that Liang Weishuang was naïve and simple-minded, easily used by others, and asked, “What did Luo Jiner say to you?”

“She said that you’ve always bullied her under the guise of your status as a lady, that even when she served you in the past, you were prone to hitting and scolding her. And after marrying into the Marquis’s Mansion, you forbade her from getting close to the Marquis and even insulted her several times because of the Marquis’s favoritism towards her,” Liang Weishuang recounted simply.

Hearing this, Shao He let out a scornful laugh. She believed she had been tolerant enough towards Luo Jiner, yet she was astonished to find the woman so adept at inverting right and wrong.

Seeing that Shao He remained silent, Liang Weishuang explained, “But I believe you’re not that kind of person. There must be some misunderstanding.”

Shao He looked at her coldly, “There’s no misunderstanding between me and Luo Jiner.”

Liang Weishuang heard the chill in her tone and assumed it was because of her own impending marriage to Chu Yu. Mentioning that status, she said, “I know my current engagement makes meeting you somewhat awkward, but we’re bound to encounter each other in the future, and I hope you can accept my new status.”

“Perhaps we’re not suited to be friends. Miss Liang, if there is nothing troubling you health-wise, please leave. I wouldn’t want to delay the patients waiting in line, thank you,” Shao He said, giving a polite but firm order to leave.

She knew that no matter what she said, Liang Weishuang wouldn’t listen, so why waste her breath?

Liang Weishuang wanted to say more, but seeing the frosty person before her, she swallowed her words and rose, helplessly departing.

After exiting Anji Hall, her maid suddenly remembered Doctor Shao’s previous advice and felt there might be more to it. “Let her in, and bring her to the side room,” Princess Huimin said, standing up with support as Xu Han followed behind her mother.

Shao He arrived at the side room first and saw the steady pace of those approaching. She bowed, “Greetings to the Princess, Commandery Princess.”

“Hmm, come in,” Princess Huimin said aloofly, stepping into the side room first, with Xu Han close behind.

Shao He followed at the end, and after entering, she closed the door behind them, securing the latch.

Looking at Princess Huimin seated in the chair, Shao He respectfully asked, “Your Highness, may I begin the treatment now?”

Princess Huimin frowned slightly at the smell, “What’s this?”

“This is to apply to Your Highness’s face to eliminate toxins,” Shao He explained briefly and then started to smear the medicine on the Princess’s face before gently wiping it.

“Hiss…” The Princess inhaled sharply, feeling a piercing pain on her skin, with the sensation being particularly intense.

“Is it very painful?” Shao He paused and asked with a hint of concern.

Princess Huimin bit her lip and gave a soft affirmation.

Her face, once marred with blemishes, was now beginning to regain a delicate pinkness, much to her delight.

“Please wait a moment, Princess. I will now apply a different paste, and the pain will subside shortly.”

“Hmm.”

While Shao He was focused on the treatment, Princess Huimin suddenly spoke, “I’ve heard that Chu Yu has been visiting Anji Hall frequently and even bought many expensive pieces of jewelry for you. What is your relationship with him?”

“The Marquis previously sought my medical services for someone in his mansion, but I refused. Perhaps he wants to use these gifts as a way to persuade me to offer my treatment,” Shao He made up an excuse on the spot.
