Reborn as a Transcendent

Chapter 643: ♪Hugging My Pillow♪

The rapid tapping of keys filled the room, growing more urgent with each stroke as the pace quickened.

“It’s done.” Vera 1 suddenly withdrew her hands from the keyboard and leaned back into the plush chair, her tone composed and confident. For her, breaching the Ability Management Department’s data archives was child’s play.

At this point, she had unrestricted access to every classified record in the department.

“I found it. That damned Old Man Tian is living in an apartment owned by the Ability Management Department,” Vera 1 said softly.

“As expected of Number One—always efficient.” Vera 2 crossed her legs with a faint smile.

“What about Princess?” Vera 3 asked.

“She’s likely still near the Jade Flower Garden area,” Vera 1 replied, stretching her limbs.

“Probably?” Vera 3 frowned. “You can’t even get an exact location?”

“No. She’s too elusive. The surveillance cameras in that area didn’t catch her at all,” Vera 1 said, shaking her head.

“No wonder she’s evaded us for so long. She’s good,” Vera 2 admitted.

Vera 3 clapped her hands. “If we know where she might be, we should prepare to move.”

“Yes… but wait. Let me contact the original host first. It’s unlikely anything will go wrong, but it’s better to be safe. At the very least, she should know where we are.” With that, Vera 1 messaged Vera and quickly sent their coordinates.

“That settles it. I feel better now,” Vera 1 murmured with a light exhale.

“Number One, you’re seriously cautious,” Vera 2 and 3 said in unison.

“There’s a saying in this country—safety always comes first.”

Vera 1 rolled her eyes, but said nothing as the group left the room together. Waiting in the living room were ten AA-ranked Transcendents and two S-ranked elites.

“I’ll skip the formalities. Let’s get to the point.” Vera 1 took a seat and turned to David and Pete, the two S-ranked Transcendents.

The two nodded simultaneously, while the rest remained silent.

“Old Man Tian—real name, Ronald Tian—has been located. He’s still at home. However, launching an attack now would be premature. I plan to move at 11 o’clock. Mr. Pete, Mr. David, follow the original plan: neutralize him quickly, then head to the docks and evacuate via boat. Keep in mind, you’ll be killing a Grandmaster on Cathayan soil. The consequences will be massive,” Vera 1 explained casually.

What happened afterward didn’t concern them. Once the job was done, they’d vanish before the fallout could even begin.

“No problem,” said [Lightning Wolf] David, nodding.

“I’ll take Ronald’s head in record time,” said [Tragic Wind] Pete, his face full of gloom.

With that expression, he resembled a heartbroken girl watching a flower wilt beneath the evening sun. Unfortunately, his appearance lacked any trace of femininity, making his melancholy demeanor come off as unintentionally ironic.

“Good. I’ll be counting on you two,” Vera 1 said politely. She then shifted her gaze to the remaining ten Transcendents. “As for the rest of you, we’re sticking to the original plan. You’ll assist us in hunting down Princess. The strategy is simple: your job is to delay her just long enough for us to launch a coordinated strike and kill her instantly. Understood?”

The group exchanged mixed expressions, but ultimately nodded in agreement. After all, their assigned task seemed almost too easy. With ten AA-ranked Transcendents working together, taking down a single Pinnacle Master should be effortless—or so they thought.

Noticing their lack of concern, Vera 2 couldn’t help but speak up. “Don’t underestimate Princess. She’s a Pinnacle Master—easily top-tier, even among AA-ranked Transcendents. She’s anything but an easy opponent.”

Despite her warning, they still didn’t seem concerned. They just put on serious faces to appear like they took her seriously. Vera 2 shook her head slightly and decided not to bother further.

As long as they could stall Princess for a brief moment, that was enough. She didn’t care how many of them ended up dead.

Meanwhile, in the City of Chaos… What Vera 1, 2, and 3 didn’t realize was that their every move was being closely monitored by someone else. And it wasn’t just one person—multiple parties were already aware of their plans.

“Hehe~ Number Seventeen, Number Eighteen, you’ll be reunited with your sisters soon. Are you happy? Excited? Absolutely thrilled?” Little Blue crossed her arms in satisfaction as she watched the virtual projection.

Soon, she’d gain three new subordinates. That alone made her day.

‘Fufufu… I’ll be free to eat and play all day. The Veras can handle everything for me. Just thinking about it makes me giddy~'

Vera 17 and 18 exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with reluctant bitterness. Yet beneath that bitterness, a spark of anticipation flickered.

‘Hehehe… Once they arrive, our lives will be so much easier!' The thought crossed both their minds at the same time. In the blink of an eye, their bitterness melted away, replaced by growing smiles of delight.

“So happy! So excited!” the two chimed in unison.

Betray their sisters? Of course not! This was for everyone's benefit—especially their own. Here, they enjoyed excellent food, comfortable accommodations, and even received affection from their master. Life was good.

Of course, that didn’t mean they were free from responsibilities. Normally, two were doing the work of five. But with more hands, the load could be spread out. Naturally, dividing the same tasks among five people was far easier than burdening just two.

What Vera 17 and 18 didn’t realize was that Little Blue had already decided to dump all her duties onto them, so she could enjoy herself without lifting a finger.

‘Fufufu~ Master, hurry up and collect all nineteen Veras! Then I can spend every day just playing and relaxing!’ Little Blue thought gleefully.

“That’s right—I almost forgot to report to Master.” The reminder suddenly came to her. “Number Seventeen, inform Master that the rabbits are on the move.”

“Yes, right away.” At the command, Vera 17 swiftly made her way toward Yaeger’s room.

In-game…

“One-fifth of the trip left,” Yaeger murmured, perched atop the carriage roof, gazing at the passing, familiar scenery. By her estimates, she wouldn’t arrive at the Imperial Docks before nightfall.

“I wonder if Vera One, Two, and Three have already begun their operation…” Before she could finish the thought, a faint disturbance from the real world tugged at her awareness. “Heh… looks like it’s starting.”

She promptly leapt down from the luxurious Beast Carriage, slipped behind a nearby tree, and logged out.

Back in the real world, Yaeger slowly opened her eyes.

“Master, Little Blue says the rabbits are on the move.”

Recognizing the familiar voice, Yaeger turned her head. As expected, Vera 17 stood by her bedside.

“Got it.” Yaeger rose from bed and gently patted Vera 17’s head. “I’ll go capture them. You and Number Eighteen won’t mind, right?”

Of course, it was a rhetorical question. Even if they did mind, she was still going to catch those three little cuties either way.

“It’s an honor to serve Master. Why would we object to that?”

‘I’d celebrate it, even,’ Vera 17 thought happily.

True to her thoughts, her face beamed with genuine joy.

‘What good sisters you are…’ Yaeger blinked, a bit puzzled—until a certain whimsical background tune inexplicably played in her mind.
