Reborn as a 500 Million Inspector: A Legacy of Loyalty and Glory

Chapter 7 - The Presence of the Chief Chinese Inspector!

Chapter 7 The Presence of the Chief Chinese Inspector!

Previously, the four major Inspectors were all on equal footing. Although there were differences in the money and resources each controlled due to their respective jurisdictions, in terms of authority, they were on the same level.

Later, the higher-ups created the position of the Chief Chinese Inspector but didn’t adjust the powers accordingly. While everyone congratulated Lei Luo, they believed it was merely a verbal favor from above.

However, when Lei Luo confronted Blue Steel today, the higher-ups actually stood behind him! The Chief Chinese Inspector had truly become the leader of the Inspectors.

Blue Steel stood in the hallway, listening to the murmurs coming from the offices, his face turning red. At that moment, his heart burned with anger, nearly exploding. His subordinates dared not speak, fearing they might set off this ticking time bomb.

After thinking it over, Blue Steel still couldn’t swallow this humiliation, and he was unwilling to just leave. Just then, the office door at the end of the hallway opened again, and James, now in a new suit, walked out.

When he walked up to Blue Steel, he glanced at him. When James came from Britain to Hong Kong, Blue Steel had been the first to approach him, offering him two million in money and gifts.

Seeing his current state, James decided to give this young man a little insight.

“Come with me.”

Blue Steel quickly lifted his foot and followed James. The two arrived at the second floor of the police station parking lot, the area reserved for senior officials. James led Blue Steel to a brand-new car, opened the door, and showed him the back seat, which was full of money.

The money was piled in a messy heap, so much that even Blue Steel gasped.

“This car was sent to me by Lei Luo this morning.”

“All senior officials have one of these cars.”

“Now do you understand?”

James was also quite excited at this moment. However, he kept his composure, maintaining a calm facade to preserve his image in front of Blue Steel. But inside, he was eager to drive the car home and stash the money in his safe!

As the car started and drove out of the parking lot, Blue Steel stood frozen, still in shock. He couldn’t understand where Lei Luo had gotten all that money.

Ten million? He hadn’t even needed that much when competing for the position of Chief Chinese Inspector! And now, Lei Luo was giving out a whole hundred million!

How could anyone compete with that?

Blue Steel suddenly felt utterly hopeless.

But the next moment, the fire of jealousy burned fiercely inside him again!

“You think you can get so much money, Lei Luo? If I were in your position, I could do it too!”

“If I can’t beat you head-on, I’ll fight you dirty!”

Jealousy had completely consumed Blue Steel’s rationality. He immediately left the building, sent his subordinates back to their district, and drove to the Digital Gang.

Meanwhile, after returning to his office, Lao instructed the pig oil kid to find a lawyer for him. While organizing his assets, he also made arrangements for his wife, Bai Yue, to change her nationality.

How much money could he really make just from collecting bribes?

During Lei Luo’s peak, the title of the Five-Hundred-Million-Inspector was considered the limit.

At first, Lei Luo had dominated over the four big families, but later, the four families had left him behind, barely visible in their rearview mirrors. Therefore, he had to change his strategy in time—building his commercial empire through agents.

He wanted to be the emperor of the underworld. But he wasn’t going to leave the legitimate world unclaimed either. Since Chinese companies couldn’t go public, he would have his wife change her identity and find agents to list the companies instead.

At that point, Lei Luo’s assets weren’t too complicated, and it wasn’t hard to handle. By the afternoon, the lawyers had given their plan and started executing it.

Not all Westerners were high and mighty; there were always those who could be controlled. As for Lei Luo himself, he never even considered changing his nationality.

At 7 PM, they were back at the same restaurant from yesterday’s banquet. Nearly all the gangs on Hong Kong Island had arrived.

In the past, those who had grievances would yell a few insults when they met, but no one dared to fight today. Because at this crucial moment, if anyone offended Lei Luo by fighting, they might end up being eliminated.

When the four major underworld families arrived, the atmosphere in the hall began to shift. The leaders of the four big gangs—Yian Association, Digital Gang, Yiqun, and Heshen—were surrounded by their subordinates.

The Yian Association, with its influence in the busiest district of Hong Kong Island, was recognized as the most powerful gang. The Digital Gang, with its stronghold in Kowloon, was second only to the Yian Association.

Heshen’s territory was mainly in the New Territories, in a remote area. While strong, it was not as powerful as the other two. These three families were all historically significant in Hong Kong Island, each with its own legacy. But the most arrogant presence in the room was Ah Hao of Yiqun.

Ah Hao’s Yiqun came from the Chaozhou Gang but, with Lei Luo’s support, now controlled over half of Hong Kong Island’s drug trade. Drugs brought in the most money and the fastest. Though he didn’t have his own territory, he had influence over all the major gangs’ domains.

The number of people following him had increased over the years, rapidly boosting his status. Although he was the newcomer among the four families, his momentum was gradually surpassing the others.

Meanwhile, Li Tai of the Digital Gang coldly watched Ah Hao’s loud and boastful behavior, his eyes filled with disdain. He had already spoken in detail with Blue Steel earlier that afternoon.

Now, he was here while Blue Steel had gone to Kowloon Walled City. If Blue Steel could handle things there, Kowloon would be firmly under control.

Li Tai was confident that, without his consent, no one would be able to do business in Kowloon. The large hall was clearly divided into four zones. It was chaotic, like a market, and the restaurant staff dared not approach, only hiding behind.

This atmosphere lasted until someone shouted, “Luo Ge has arrived!”

At that moment, all the gang leaders stood up, even the leaders of the four major families. Outside the restaurant, Lao, dressed in a sharp suit, stepped inside. All the gang leaders immediately bent and greeted him in unison.

The coordinated movement, the uniform sound, stunned the restaurant staff. The scene was starkly different from yesterday. Yesterday, Lei Luo had been seated first, and the gang leaders had come to greet him.

Today, Lei Luo arrived last, and the gang leaders stood in unison to welcome him. The emperor of the underworld on Hong Kong Island—this title instantly popped into everyone’s mind. While it had once been just a boastful saying, today they could feel its true weight.

In the face of the greeting from Hong Kong Island’s underworld leaders, Lao remained calm. He walked down the parted pathway and reached the main table.

Ah Hao eagerly pulled out a chair for him, smiling broadly.

“Luo Ge, sit.”

“Mmm, you guys sit too.”

The pig oil kid took Lao’s jacket and quietly stood behind him. Ah Hao poured him a drink and respectfully placed it in front of him. Just moments ago, the hall had been as noisy as a market. Now, it was eerily silent.
