[Please Recommend, Please Favourite] Lan Huanxi lived in Cloud Mist Village.
Cloud Mist Village, as its name suggests, was named after its location at the foot of Cloud Mist Mountain.
The villagers there made their living by picking tea and working away from home, leading rather impoverished lives.
However, there was one exception.
That was the home of the village secretary, Huang Zhigao.
Before even entering the village, one could see a three-story European-style villa rising from the ground.
Of course, it couldn’t compare to the villa Li Chen had halfway up Cloud Mist Mountain.
But compared to the rows of low and dilapidated tile-roofed houses in the village, it also appeared exceptionally luxurious and grand.
Along the way, Lan Huanxi introduced Li Chen to the situation in their village, occasionally mentioning some amusing incidents, and then sneaking peeks at Li Chen’s facial expressions with the corner of her eye.
If there was a smile on Li Chen’s face, she would be extraordinarily delighted.
Otherwise, she would immediately end the topic and anxiously wonder to herself which sentence she had gotten wrong to make him unhappy.
Meanwhile, at Lan Huanxi’s home:
Huang Mingquan had gathered a bunch of hooligans and blocked their front door.
Nearby, a group of villagers who were there to watch the commotion formed into cliques, whispering and discussing in twos and threes.
Lan Huanxi’s father was named Lan Laoshi, a name which reflected his honest and timid nature as a farmer.
Last year, he fell from the scaffolding at a construction site and broke six ribs, rendering him unable to do any heavy work since and only able to do some light work to support the family.
His wife had been bedridden for years, and his younger son still needed to attend school; with no other choice, they had to let their academically excellent older daughter drop out of school to work and earn money.
But even so, fate still didn’t seem to intend to let their family live in peace.
Last night, their daughter who had gone out to gather herbs hadn’t returned home all night.
Concerned about his daughter, Lan Laoshi was ready to go up the mountain to search for her early in the morning.
But before he could leave the house, he saw the village bully, Huang Mingquan, leading a dozen or so young lads, blocking their doorstep.
Before Lan Laoshi could even ask what was happening, Huang Mingquan kicked him to the ground.
“Lan Laoshi, you sure have raised a fine daughter.
Last night, I saw her rolling around with a strange man in the grass, engaging in shameless acts.
When I reproached her, she and that man actually joined forces and beat me up.”
“As the saying goes, to not discipline is the fault of the father.
Your daughter is sneaking around with men and hitting people, as her father, you ought to give me an explanation, right?”
Hearing Huang Mingquan’s words, Lan Laoshi was struck as if by lightning, his face contorting with grief as he tried to argue.
“Huanxi has always been obedient and a good girl, how could she possibly sneak off with someone in the wild?”
“Damn it all, I still have bruises on me, are you saying this is all fake?”
While talking, Huang Mingquan ripped off his clothes to reveal the wounds on his shoulder.
Faced with the aggressive Huang Mingquan, Lan Laoshi was at a loss.
He sat collapsed on the ground, his deeply furrowed face streaming with tears.
“Huanxi is a good girl; she wouldn’t do such things.
My fellow villagers, you’ve all seen Huanxi grow up; you should know what kind of person she is, please help speak a word on her behalf!”
The onlooking villagers, although they all knew Huang Mingquan had long been coveting the beauty of the Lan Family’s eldest daughter, wanting to force himself on her.
But fearing the power of the Huang Family, they all worried about bringing trouble upon themselves; no one dared to step forward to speak a word of justice.
“Smash it for me, smash everything in Lan Laoshi’s house!” yelled Huang Mingquan at the top of his lungs.
His group of hoodlum friends, who usually took pleasure in bullying others, upon hearing Huang Mingquan’s words, all rolled up their sleeves and armed themselves to begin smashing.
In a chaotic uproar of crashing and breaking, water jars, doors, and windows were all destroyed.
They even didn’t spare a few old hens that Lan Laoshi was raising; they just picked up a watermelon knife and started chopping, causing a commotion with chickens scattering and dogs jumping, leaving no peace.
Powerless to stop them, Lan Laoshi could only cry in pain with his sick wife, begging heaven to open its eyes and have mercy on their unfortunate family.
The onlooking villagers, all too scared to bring trouble upon themselves, didn’t dare to step in to stop them, merely watching from a distance.
Even some people who talk without the pain of standing accused Lan Laoshi of not knowing the times, saying had he married his daughter to Huang Mingquan earlier, none of this would’ve happened.
At this moment, Huang Mingquan from the inner room found a bank card on the table and intended to claim it as his own.
Lan Laoshi, seeing they were about to take away his wife’s lifesaving money, was instantly enraged and rushed forward to fight for it.
“This is my wife’s lifesaving money.
If we lose this money for the surgery, she will die…”
With one kick, Huang Mingquan sent Lan Laoshi flying and furiously rebuked him.
“Get lost.
She’s your wife, not mine.
What do I care if she lives or dies?”
“Besides, with your wife in such a condition, living is just suffering.
She’d be better off dead anyway!”
Seeing begging was futile, Lan Laoshi tried to rush forward to grab it back.
Enraged and embarrassed, Huang Mingquan grabbed an iron rod and swung it towards Lan Laoshi’s head.
However, at this life-and-death moment:
He suddenly felt an excruciating pain in his wrist and instinctively looked to see a familiar voice appearing before him.
Terrified out of his wits, Huang Mingquan yelled anxiously, “Is that you?”
The person was none other than Li Chen, who had brought Lan Huanxi home!
Seeing the mess around him, Li Chen’s eyes suddenly turned cold.
“Do you remember what I told you last night?”
At this time, a big bald man holding a cleaver pointed at Li Chen’s nose and cursed furiously.
“Fucking hell, let go of Brother Huang.
Believe it or not, I can kill you in minutes?”
The other lackeys also surrounded Li Chen, threatening to cut him down.
Li Chen, however, was not the least bit intimidated.
He looked at these lowlifes as if they were mere ants.
“Seeking death!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Li Chen flicked his sleeve.
In an instant, more than a dozen men lay scattered on the ground, writhing in agony.
Li Chen walked up to the bald man and asked coldly, “My hearing’s not so good.
What was that you just said about killing me within minutes, right?”
The bald man, realizing he was dealing with a martial artist, didn’t dare to boast any further and shook all over in terror, staring at Li Chen.
“You like chopping people, right?
Well, today, I’ll let you try what it feels like to be chopped!”
As he spoke, Li Chen’s palm swirled, forming a vortex as he shouted.
“Rise, knives!”
Suddenly, five or six watermelon knives and even the chef’s knife and sickle from Teacher Lan’s family obediently lined up, floating in mid-air around the bald man.
Having never seen such a formation, the bald man was so frightened he lost control of his bowels.
Li Chen gave him a grin, revealing eight neat little white teeth.
Following that, he swung his arm down with great force.
“Chop!”
In an instant, all sorts of messy knives, cleavers, sickles, watermelon knives, and so forth descended upon the bald man.
“Ah, ah, ah!”
Screams like those of a pig being slaughtered echoed throughout.
In just a few seconds, the bald man was slashed till he was bloody and battered, without an inch of intact flesh on him, looking as ghastly and terrifying as if he had just crawled out of a pool of blood.
Seeing this scene, everyone present was utterly shocked.
With faces of disbelief, they stood dumbfounded, watching this incredible scene that defied reality.
After chopping the bald man, Li Chen turned his gaze towards Huang Mingquan.
He was trying to escape through the dog hole and, seeing Li Chen’s gaze coming towards him, was so scared he wet his pants.
“Don’t kill me, don’t kill me.
My dad is the village chief, the village chief!”
What do you think?
