Chapter 197: The Beginning of the Milking
Chapter 197: The Beginning of the Milking
These amazing, very productive talks continued for around five hours, until finally…
“Those in favor of our cemeteries being cleaned bi-weekly, raise your hands,” King Arthur stated.
To no one’s surprise, every single person present raised their hand.
By now, Rael had even stopped listening. These talks mostly covered minor issues from each country, and even Celestara got involved.
And the reason why it was involved?
Those fuckers said our mountainside elevators weren’t safe… Rael grumbled. Halemire had to whip out a piece of our agreement and show it to King Arthur. I guess it was also a good pretense for me to bring up the talks about dwarves though.
He was supposed to have a chat with them, and now, Halemire would once again send a personal recommendation to make things easier for him.
Zafira whistled beside him, clearly bored.
She halted her whistling and sent back a text.
He chuckled.
There was one clear problem. If he were to take over Aztera, the only way there would be through Sylvaran.
That’s why…
“Excuse me, Arthur,” Zafira spoke up, causing the rulers to turn to her. “I’d like it if we could discuss our earlier proposal in private.”
“Mines?” King Arthur asked.
Zafira merely shook her head. “The other proposal.”
King Arthur’s brows twitched. “Very well then… everyone, you may take your leave.”
Yet before they could even take another step, he continued. “I nearly forgot. In regard to one of your candidates succeeding me, let’s wait until the war between Celestara and Aztera concludes. I believe I can last that long at least.”
“Very well, may you live long enough to make my kingdom richer, old coot,” King Diederich remarked with a chuckle and began walking away, not even flashing Rael or Zafira a second glance.
Things would really begin once he left the Holy Kingdom courtroom, therefore, he had to send a text.
The moment he wrote that message and sent it, he closed the chat group. Immediately, several dings resounded, likely those of panic or surprise at how nonchalantly he had announced a war.
Hope they get it done though. Rael glanced at the departing figures of the rulers and noticed one in particular who walked slower than the rest.
Then, she turned her head and flashed him a cheeky wink before running off.
She’s either very interested in the ore deal, or… Rael sighed. Fucking succubus.
“Now that we’re alone… what do you truly want?” King Arthur asked.
“Sylvaran used to be a part of Celestara. Now that we’ve become a full-fledged country, I believe we have every right to take it back,” Zafira said flatly.
King Arthur’s brows twitched. “It’s not that simple—”
“Sylvaran was only handed over to you because Celestara couldn’t defend itself back then,” Rael cut him off. “It wasn’t a legal agreement since you usurped it and then documented the fact that it was given to you as a gift. But we have the other side of the story back in Celestara, as I’m sure you’re aware.”
“Look.” King Arthur sighed. “As you might notice, I’m old, not ancient. It has been over 600 years since Sylvaran became a part of the Holy Kingdom. We’ve earned a great deal from that city, and I’m sure you can understand how strong the religious presence is there.”
He took a deep breath and continued. “But if you truly do have the other side of the story, then I’m willing to offer you an alternative.”
Rael tilted his head. “And that alternative is…?”
“I’ll host a vote in a week. What you need to do during that time is woo the people of Sylvaran, and if, during the vote, they choose you, then Sylvaran would become a part of Celestara.”
As magnanimous as that offer sounded, it was trash.
That was why Zafira decided to point it out.
Or rather…
“How about another angle?” Zafira tilted her head as a playful smirk appeared on her face. “Give us Sylvaran, or we’ll tell everyone your announcement at the start of the summit was a complete lie.”
“Hmm…?” King Arthur hummed in amusement and didn’t even try to hide it. “The damage has already been done. If you go around stating I’m a liar, you’re going to sound like a hypocrite who is trying to get ahead.”
“Well… how about this, then…” Rael trailed off as a wide grin tugged at his face.
He opened the premium shop and did something a little… unusual.

There was one very interesting thing about the premium shop. It bought already existing items, and since he narrowed the scope like this…
<Ding!>
He had bought 9,244 Orange Grapes, and over 522 Purple Oranges.
Immediately, two small boxes appeared, which he quickly tossed into his inventory.
“What was that?” King Arthur asked, puzzled.
However, instead of replying, Rael simply reached into his inventory and gently took out a single Orange Grape before holding it in between his fingers.
Rael’s grin widened even further.
“I’m sure we can come to a better deal now, right?”
What do you think?
