Chapter 355: Mysterious Tree and Broken Myth Bead
Almond and Kexell crossed 5000 kilometers in an instant with his teleport.
"This is the place where I sensed the massive veiled energy," Almond said as he looked at a vast forest below.
"I can't sense anything massive here, except for the Legendary-rank monsters," Kexell said.
"Your eyes are like buttons compared to mine, so don't bother," Almond snickered before he blinked, his eyes flickering.
"It's underground. Alright, before I go, I'll send some information in your mind. Some creative brainstorming so that you may increase your offense a bit more."
Pointing his finger at Kexell, Almond sent information into Kexell's brain.
"Huh? What is all this?"
"It's the way of utilizing Mana in a conceptual way. You are too focused on a single thing and haven't developed more ways to use your powers. Look at the information I gave and brainstorm to create some new skills."
"Huhu, interesting…"
Kexell was soon lost in thought as a dark cloud surged and enveloped him, which was his way of entering a focused state that also preserved his safety.
Meanwhile, Almond teleported underground where he sensed the source of energy and it turned out to be a magical tree at the center of a pitch black pond which had sparkling streams of energy resembling the tree's colors, which were mainly green, red, and blue.
'What is this?' Almond blinked.
[Chromium Mayhem Tree]
-Rank: Mythical
-Effect: ???
'A mythical-rank tree?' Almond was startled. 'No wonder…if it wasn't for my All-Seeing Eye that sensed anomaly and unveiled it, this would be hard to discover.'
After all, this tree was freaking 100 kilometers underground!
And right below it was just a patch of darkness, the same as behind their Earth's base, which acted as the border of this battlefield.
Almond sat down, thinking of what to do.
The effect was unknown, but it was fat with some kind of energy and he was tempted to absorb it and turn it into Energy Spirit.
But he also wanted to find out the effect.
Almond decided to exert his will to empower his All-Seeing Eyes to forcefully see through it.
'Show me what you are!'
Almond focused and exerted his power.
The question marks in the window flickered, and slowly turned into readable texts.
[Chromium Mayhem Tree]
-Description: A tree that preys on myths and births them.
-Rank: Mythical
-Effect:
—> Upon sacrificing a Mythical-rank lifeform being, the tree will bear fruits that will contain their various aspects of powers.
"What?" Almond was taken back. "A tree that eats mythical-rank beings and bears fruits having their powers…"
"That reminds me, what do I do with this Broken Myth Bead?"
Almond took out a black bead and inspected it. He always forgot about it, but now he could fully inspect it.
[Broken Myth Bead]
-Rank: Mythical
-Effect:
—> It contains the myth of a forgotten, dead god. It will only activate when it finds a worthy heir and invokes a legacy trial to pass down the inheritance.
'God? But it should be just a peak Mythical-rank being.'
Almond's eyes glinted.
It was crazy how he got this item from roulette so early.
'But screw you.'
Almond threw the bead into the black pond.
'Since this bead contains everything of a dead Mythical-rank powerhouse, maybe it will work.'
Even if it didn't work, he could take back the bead.
But shortly after the bead went down, the tree began glowing, oozing a slightly menacing aura.
At the same time, a strange glow also pierced out of the black pond, belonging to the bead.
Almond raised an eyebrow. Confused at first, he soon realized what was happening.
These two things were fighting!
The tree wanted the sacrifice and absorb the bead to bear the fruits while the bead was resisting it strongly!
After five minutes, the stalemate continued and Almond didn't like that.
'The tree is kind of alive, so maybe I can rouse it,' Almond grinned.
"Hey, is that all you got? You can't even absorb a dead Mythical being's source."
The tree shook and glowed more after he spoke, exerting its power.
The bead's glow started to dim!
'Great. Keep it up! Ain't nobody going to find an heir for you.'
Almond wasn't interested in this Mythical-rank being's legacy. He was creating his own path of power and didn't want others' stuff, but it could still be useful to gain knowledge for him and hand it out to others.
Soon, the tree strangely shone with mystical patterns as small buds began to sprout in some places.
Two minutes later, one fruit grew, and then a second.
And then third.
Ten minutes later, a total of seven fruits ripened in the tree.
'Let's see,' Almond's eyes flickered as he waved his hand, taking the fruits as well as inspecting them.
One fruit bore a set of skills.
Three fruits bore knowledge of three variant elements—Metal, Magma, and Crystal.
Fifth fruit had a conceptual source of some kind of power, probably related to his class.
The last fruit gave a complete and tailored knowledge of Magic Blacksmithing with some unique aspects.
'Interesting.'
Almond knew where to distribute these fruits, so he directly initiated a long-distance teleport and returned to Earth.
Roken was still working hard on being a blacksmith and had progressed a lot. His talent in Blacksmithing was blooming, so it was best to give him these fruits.
There was a high chance his Runic Blacksmith subclass would evolve.
The elemental variant fruits also appeared to be tailored-made for Blacksmiths. Magma, Crystal, and Metal were a perfect combo to forge items of all kinds.
The set of skills might give new smithing techniques as well as some combat power to Roken that he needed. As for the fruit that contained the conceptual power of the unknown Mythical being's class, Almond initially thought to give it to the old monster Dylan since he was a magma and terrain shifter expert who could shape the battlefield, but in the end, decided to give it to Roken.
Arriving in the Sanctuary Area where Roken was training in his personal smithy on his territory, Almond gave him the fruits and told him about their effects.
"Woah, are these fruits really for me?!" Roken shouted, his mouth and eyes wide open.
"T-These are all Mythical-rank!"
"They are yours," Almond chuckled. "Don't waste more time and eat them in the order I told you to. Your elemental mastery is weak, but eating these fruits should send you into an enlightenment state so increase them first before eating other fruits."
"Fuck," Roken's eyes trembled. "You are awesome, boss. I swear I am going to become strong!"
"Yeah, yeah, now do it," Almond laughed and patted his shoulder. "All the best."
Almond vanished and returned to the battlefield where the mysterious tree was.
"Well, it seems I can't uproot this," Almond muttered.
He decided to keep it here before finding a way to relocate it.
Teleporting on the surface, Almond saw that Kexell was still in his dark cloud.
But suddenly, Almond felt something and looked in a particular direction.
A device was homing in towards them.
"That belongs to Neo," Almond narrowed his eyes. "Is he scanning the battlefield?"
Meanwhile, Neo also saw Almond and his eyes glinted.
What do you think?
