Chapter 18: I Learned the Special Skills [Netori] and [Psychopath]
Chapter 18 - I Learned the Special Skills [Netori] and [Psychopath]
I let out a sigh as I sipped herbal tea in the guest room of Morris's mansion, finally taking a moment to relax.
After everything, I had bathed alone in another room, washing away the soap suds and putting my clothes back on. My "Excalibur," which had been left unsatisfied and frustrated, had finally calmed down.
But my mind kept drifting back to Iris. She was quite a woman. I could still see her in my head, cheeks flushed as she served me with such devotion. In this world, female slaves would dedicate their lives to you in exchange for a price.
If Iris had been for sale, I might have paid millions, even billions, to have her. I'd have gladly spent my life paying off that debt. Thank goodness I met Princess Eris and Reina first.
Still, I wondered if the deal I struck was the right call. Even for someone like Morris, who had a thing for being cuckolded, it felt like a risky move. Pretending to be the "other man" went better than I expected, though. I never thought I had that kind of talent.
Suddenly, a strange sensation hit me.
*Trumpet fanfare*
The sound of my level increasing echoed in my head. What was this?
[Seiou has gained experience]
[Level up]
[Acquired the "Netori" skill]
Well, that's a weird skill to pick up.
[Intelligence increased by 1]
[Stamina increased by 15]
[Kindness decreased by 5]
Wait, why did my kindness stat go down when I leveled up? That doesn't make any sense.
[Acquired the "Psychopath" skill]
And now I've again learned another skill I didn't ask for.
Cautiously, I checked the details of both skills.
[Netori Skill: Increases the affection rate of women who already have partners.]
[Psychopath Skill: Reduces feelings of guilt or remorse.]
I groaned. Both skills were clearly tied to what I'd just done. I didn't realize my actions would have this kind of effect.
From now on, I'd have to be really careful, or I might just end up leveling up in a quite WEIRD direction.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Lord Seiou," Morris said as he returned to the guest room, looking refreshed, like a pressure had been lifted off him.
"No trouble at all," I replied, standing to greet him and Iris, who followed close behind. She was once again covered from head to toe in a hood and scarf, leaving only her eyes visible. She probably hadn't had time to fix her hair or makeup, so the hood was likely hiding that.
"Please, accept this small gift," I said, offering the items I'd prepared on the table using my item creation skill: a bottle of body soap and a set of red, sexy lingerie.
They were trivial things to me, but in this world, they were valuable gifts.
"Oh, you're giving these to us? How generous of you Lord Seiou," Morris said, his gratitude genuine.
"The red lingerie is a bit more... exciting than the last set," I added.
"More exciting than before?" Iris's eyes widened, her cheeks turning red. The lingerie on the table was little more than red strings. She must have realized Morris would likely order her to wear it tonight.
"Sounds exciting!" Morris laughed, his white teeth flashing. He was in high spirits.
I seized the moment to bring up the main topic. "So about the loan... I would like to ask Lord Morris to lend me one hundred million Cols for two months, with a ten percent interest rate?"
The interest seemed outrageously high, but that was apparently the going rate in this world. I blamed the crumbling economy of the Freesia Kingdom.
"Hmm," Morris said, considering. "Your business with those otherworldly tools is sure to succeed, Lord Seiou. I'd be more than happy to provide the loan."
Yes! Finally man! I cheered silently.
"But," Morris continued.
"But?" I echoed, my heart sinking.
"Business is an unpredictable phenomenon. So as the lender, I'd also like some collateral."
He'd dangled the loan to get my hopes up, only to hit me with tougher terms. A classic shrewd merchant tactic. This guy was sharp.
I was prepared, though. I planned to offer my smartphone as collateral. Explaining its value would be trickier than with a clock, but I had no choice.
"The collateral I want.... is you, Lord Seiou." " Morris said.
"Me?" I blurted, caught off guard.
"If you can't repay the loan then you'll have to serve me. Don't worry, I'll treat you well, Lord Seiou."
So, Morris, one of the wealthiest merchants in the nation, saw me as worth more than one 100 million Cols. To be honest, it's not a bad deal, all things considered. If the business failed, everything would be over for me anyways. Plus, I had a feeling Morris and I could get along.
"Alright," I said. "I accept your terms."
"Okay then deal closed! Excellent, excellent," Morris said, beaming.
"Congratulations," Iris added, her voice soft.
Morris quickly ordered his servants to bring a paper and pen. Soon after, he signed a paper and handed it over to me.
This is it!
It had been a tough negotiation, but I'd secured the starting funds I needed for now.
"Then I should now return to the castle to report Princess Ellis, Lord Morris," I said, taking the check thatand preparing to leave.
"Please, let me know when your next business venture takes shape again, I'd love to hear from you soon," Morris said.
"Absolutely Lord Morris. And I'll also be counting on Iris's help again," I replied with a wicked smile.
Iris flinched, her body trembling for a moment. Was it fear? Or anticipation? Her hooded face gave nothing away.
"If there's anything I can do..." she said, her eyes bright red as she spoke.
What do you think?
