Chapter 9 - 9 9 The Once Disgraceful Aspect
Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Once Disgraceful Aspect Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Once Disgraceful Aspect Tang Yu thought to herself that this might be a reason… right? She always felt that Ye Sihan was very dangerous, like a fierce beast lurking in the night even in broad daylight, ready to throttle her and tear her apart at any moment.
She flatly denied it with her lips, “No.”
“I am not your direct supervisor,” Ye Sihan said as he took a sip of the coffee in front of him.
Tang Yu pursed her lips, utterly frustrated.
Her direct supervisor was Xiao Yu from the secretarial department.
But she had already talked to Xiao Yu about this several times to no avail.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought it up with Ye Sihan.
“So, when can I leave?” Tang Yu asked timidly.
“Don’t you understand?” Ye Sihan’s lifted dark eyes appeared deep and gloomy.
It seemed as though none of these things were within his control.
Tang Yu, dissatisfied, turned and left.
She cursed under her breath as she entered the elevator.
She hadn’t signed a contract, and there was no reason she must stay, so could she just leave on her own volition?
Her phone buzzed. She took it out and saw the notification about her salary being deposited. Her clear eyes lit up.
With a salary of over ten thousand, Tang Yu’s thoughts about leaving on her own were not as strong as before.
When had she ever earned such a high income?
She didn’t even qualify as a college student.
She didn’t even have the credentials to enter KING Corporation’s doors.
How hard was it to raise four children?
Having no money was the greatest difficulty.
Tang Yu thought wishfully, why not just keep working for now and disappear if things start looking bad?
To earn so much in the first month as a newcomer, and now that she was a department head, wouldn’t she earn even more?
Then, during this time, she just needed to be careful not to let Ye Sihan find out about the kids…
“I’m looking for Ye Sihan.”
Tang Yu walked out of the elevator and saw a man standing with his back to the reception desk, calling out the name of KING Corporation’s ruler directly.
Those who came for appointments before and even those who didn’t see Ye Sihan only dared to respectfully refer to him as ‘Mr. Ye.’
Who was this person?
The man was about 1.88 meters tall, with an aristocratic aura, casually resting one hand in his pocket and appearing relaxed.
Just as she wondered who he could be, the man turned around as if hearing her thoughts.
When their eyes met, both were startled.
Tang Yu’s face immediately soured, and she turned to head to her own office.
After slamming the door, she wondered, why was he here? Surely he wasn’t here to see her?
No, he had said he was looking for Ye Sihan.
What was his relationship with Ye Sihan?
After waiting for about ten minutes and returning to the reception desk, the man was gone. When she asked Ding You who that person was, Ding You said he didn’t know; the man had directly called Mr. Ye and was then allowed upstairs.
Ding You simply thought she was concerned about any errors in her work, but in reality, the man who had just been there was Tang Yu’s ex-boyfriend, Ye Yuli, whom she detested at the mere thought of him.
Forget it, what did it have to do with her? Anyway, from the day they broke up, she was determined never to interact with him again; they were strangers now.
After work ended on time, Tang Yu immediately went to pick up her children.
At this age, the kids were just in daycare, a place with good conditions that took proper care of the children, providing them with good food and not even asking the parents when they would come to pick them up.
Even the teachers’ children were left here.
This way, parents could go to work with peace of mind.
Of course, Tang Yu wasn’t the last one to pick up her children. Every time she came, there were still other kids around. Most of the children here were two to three years old, with only a few who still could only crawl on the floor.
As she opened the door to the classroom, four little ones saw her, ran over joyfully—
“Mommy!” Their milky voices rang out in unison, bringing a smile of happiness and satisfaction to Tang Yu’s face.
After returning to the rental house, she started making food, first preparing four bottles of formula to tide them over during the cooking.
Watching them, one leaning on the sofa, one lying on the floor, one sitting on a small stool, and one cuddling a black cat sucking on a pacifier with an adorable expression, Tang Yu was hardly able to concentrate on cooking.
She spent the evening playing hide-and-seek with the kids, not bathing and going to bed until almost nine o’clock.
After settling the kids, Tang Yu grabbed her pajamas and headed for the bathroom, when her cell phone, lying on the coffee table, rang.
She went over to check the caller ID; it was Li Xue.
She asked if Tang Yu was free that evening to do makeup for a resident singer at a bar.
Seeing an opportunity to make money, Tang Yu definitely wouldn’t pass it up! The children were older now, they didn’t need her constant attention, so she immediately agreed.
After the kids fell asleep, Tang Yu rushed to the address.
Upon arriving at the door, this wasn’t her first rodeo—Crown Bar, a place where fortunes were tossed around carelessly.
“Come on, hurry up inside. We’re pressed for time. Why are you so late?”
“Uh, I got stuck in traffic…” Tang Yu couldn’t very well say she had to wait until she put the children to sleep before she could leave, could she?
After doing the makeup and receiving her pay, Li Xue wanted to stay longer at the bar, but Tang Yu made an excuse and left.
She wasn’t interested and was eagerly thinking about the four children at home!
Steping out of the elevator and walking a few steps, she realized this wasn’t the first floor but the second, dimly lit and much quieter than downstairs.
The floor wasn’t crowded, and it seemed the largest private room was occupied by a group of men and women.
Tang Yu didn’t take a closer look and turned to call the elevator again.
“Isn’t that Tang Yu? What a coincidence!”
There was something strange about the voice. Tang Yu turned around and recognized the woman.
“High school classmate, don’t remember me?”
Tang Yu recalled—high school classmate, from a well-off family that ran a business, but with terrible character, loved to bully the poor, and looked down on them.
Back then, Tang Yu was the poor person who was bullied and looked down on.
Zhou Qinghua sized up Tang Yu, concealing the disdain in her heart, and pulled her over, “Come on, join us. Let me show you what an upper-class gathering looks like. Don’t worry, this whole floor is reserved, poor people don’t qualify. Luckily you’re my classmate.”
Tang Yu was dragged to the private room, and when she got closer, the first person she saw was Ye Sihan.
Dressed in a black shirt and trousers, he was playing with his glass, the dim lights casting a shadow on his handsome, angular face. His black eyes quietly and indifferently watched her.
And across from a woman on the other side, sat Ye Yuli who seemed not to have noticed Tang Yu, as he flirted with the woman next to him.
Before Tang Yu could react, Zhou Qinghua forcefully seated her on the couch.
“Qinghua, who’s this person?”
“What’s she wearing? It looks so shabby. She can’t possibly be a friend, can she?”
“An old high school classmate. I just ran into her here,” Zhou Qinghua dismissed casually.
Hearing this, the female companion knew what was up—if Tang Yu were really wealthy, Zhou Qinghua wouldn’t have that dismissive look on her face.
“Hey, classmate, what are you doing here? The expenses at this bar are very high,” the woman asked.
“I’m here for work,” Tang Yu said.
What kind of job could it be here? Plus, her outfit was very casual, and definitely not from any well-known brand.
“I get it now, she’s here to apply as a hostess, it’s quick money.”
“My gosh, Qinghua, your high school classmate does this? Doesn’t she feel inferior seeing you?”
The volume and contempt were unmasked, and even the other men who heard laughed, beginning to size up Tang Yu with lecherous looks.
“Don’t feel inferior, there are male models who are paid to sleep with clients! A lot of money for one night. We mock the poor, not the promiscuous. Keep it up, classmate, you seem very promising.”
With that, the rest of the group burst into laughter.
“Those male models are not good-looking at all. I think none of them are a tenth as attractive as Mr. Ye,” a drunken woman blurted out senselessly, and the chatter of the entire atmosphere quieted down a bit.
Tang Yu subconsciously looked at Ye Sihan, whose dark eyes concealed his thoughts.
Only she knew about the disgraceful side of Ye Sihan once.
Initially feeling uneasy and wanting to leave promptly, she opened her mouth to retaliate, “Every profession deserves respect. After all, they’re not stealing or robbing, and once they succeed, who cares about their past? The mockers are just those who are envious and jealous.”
Her words left everyone else speechless.
How could she make prostitution sound like such a noble profession?
In fact, Tang Yu’s intention was known only to herself; she was actually comforting Ye Sihan! Flattery is never a bad idea!
When Ye Sihan lifted his gaze to meet hers, his eyes glinted with an unusual radiance, deep and unfathomable.
What do you think?
