Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten

Chapter 306: Honey, I Have Huge News to Tell You!

Seeing Lin Xiaoli's expression, Lin Zhengran could pretty much guess why his mom had frozen up like that.

But he also knew—his parents would find out sooner or later that he planned to marry several girls. Might as well use Jiang Jingshi’s confession today to start breaking the news.

Once the time came for that family meeting, he’d lay everything out clearly.

Since he was going to have a harem, might as well own it openly.

“Mom, anyway, that’s the situation. So… are you still doing the makeup artist interview?”

Snapped out of it by her son’s voice, Lin Xiaoli clenched her fists righteously in front of her chest and said firmly:

“Of course I am! Even if my Zhengran becomes a billionaire, as a mom, I still have to work! I can’t just sit around spending your money at my age! That’s not the kind of person I am!

Your dad would say the same if he were here! Adults should have their own careers!”

“I figured you’d say that. In that case, should we head to the second round? The hands-on makeup test?” Zhengran asked.

“Er… of course I have to go! But…” Lin Xiaoli placed a hand near her lips, looking a bit anxious. In a quieter voice, she asked, “But… do you two think I’ll pass? I’ve been studying really hard lately, but the thought of interviewing at such a big company still makes me nervous.”

Jiang Jingshi couldn’t help but smile.

If she didn’t pass, the head of the makeup department might as well be replaced.

“You’ll definitely pass. Why don’t Zhengzheng and I go with you? Sound good, Zhengzheng? We don’t have anything else going on today.”

“Sure,” Lin Zhengran nodded. “I originally came here just to watch Mom’s interview anyway. Let’s go together—I want to see how my mom performs under pressure. I believe in you, Mom.”

Lin Xiaoli blinked and smiled proudly—how cool was this? Two top executives personally escorting her to an interview!

As expected, she passed.

And it wasn’t even close.

Even though Lin Zhengran and Jiang Jingshi never mentioned Lin Xiaoli’s connection to them during the process—they just stood by observing like everyone else—the department heads weren’t fools.

Especially in the entertainment industry.

Plus, Lin Xiaoli and Zhengran shared a noticeable resemblance.

Even if they said nothing, the savvy department leaders could sense something.

Department Head's internal monologue:

"Yikes~ This new candidate looks quite a bit like General Manager Lin! That’s… suspicious~"

As for Xiao Shu, though she still struggled with nervousness and was sweating buckets during her makeup test, her skills were solid.

And when Lin Xiaoli got accepted and turned to Xiao Shu with an encouraging “You can do it!”, the makeup department head overheard—and was touched.

So although Xiao Shu was originally on the maybe list, she got accepted too.

Lin Zhengran, watching from the sidelines, noticed the whole thing and figured—okay, it’s kind of backdoor-ish, but Xiao Shu had the ability. And who knows, maybe his mom would end up doing amazing things in the department.

After the interview, Jiang Jingshi got a call about something at headquarters.

She said a few words to Lin Zhengran, then he walked over to his mom.

“Mom, Jingshi and I need to head back to the main company for work. Take your time getting home later.”

Lin Xiaoli quickly nodded, not wanting to get in the way. “Alright, you two go. Be careful on the road. Zhengran, are you driving?”

Jiang Jingshi smiled. “We’ve got a driver, Auntie. I’ll even arrange one for you.”

Lin Xiaoli gave an awkward smile, flashing a grin. “Oh right, big bosses have drivers. I totally forgot. But I’m good—I’ll just grab a taxi, haha! Alright then, bye-bye! Zhengran, are you coming home tonight?”

Zhengran nodded. “If nothing comes up, I’ll be back.”

After the two executives left, the department head politely saw them off.

Then Xiao Shu walked over, confused. “Lin Jie, how come you seem to know those two execs? You looked real familiar with them.”

Lin Xiaoli blinked.

Her son had such a big title—she couldn’t go around telling people she was the General Manager’s mom, right? That’d just cause trouble at work.

Better to keep quiet. No need to stir things up for Zhengran.

So she simply smiled at Xiao Shu’s question.

“A little familiar, yeah. Just a little, haha… ha… ha…”

Xiao Shu looked puzzled.

She blushed a bit and smiled. “But wow, our boss is super handsome. I’ve never seen a guy like that in real life. And the Vice General Manager is so pretty!”

Hearing that, Lin Xiaoli couldn’t help but think of the many girls who liked her son…

What was she supposed to do…

Even though she passed the interview, since others were still being considered, she couldn’t start the job right away—she’d need to wait three more days.

As she clicked her heels walking out of the company, Lin Xiaoli stood at the entrance and glanced back at the long line of interviewees and the massive building behind her.

Even knowing it belonged to her son, her heart was still trembling with awe.

“So amazing… such a big company. I couldn’t even dream of this.”

She shivered from excitement and pride.

Then quickly pulled out her phone and called her husband.

Right then, Lin Yingjun was having lunch at work. He answered when he saw the call.

“Hey honey? Finished the interview?”

Lin Xiaoli was so excited she was stumbling over her words:

“H-h-honey! I have the biggest, biggest, biggest news to tell you! Like, life-changing kind of good news! If you’re not too busy today, can you come home early? I swear I’ve got a whole afternoon’s worth of stuff to tell you! This is epic, okay?! Like world-shattering level!”

“Eh?” Lin Yingjun thought his wife was adorable. “So you passed the interview, huh? Great! I don’t have anything urgent today—how about we celebrate together at home?”

“No no no! That’s not it!”

“No? Then… what, you didn’t pass?”

“Oh, I passed! But that’s not what I meant—it’s something way bigger. Like a million times bigger than me passing! Just come home, and I’ll explain!”

Then she hushed her voice: “And make sure you don’t blab about it. We can’t let Zhengran get into trouble!”

“Huh? You’re being super mysterious for a job interview, but alright—I got it.”

One hour later.

Inside a bedroom at a certain building in Purple Wisteria Gardens.

Lin Yingjun, sitting on the bed, had just heard the whole story from his wife.

His voice exploded louder than a megaphone:

“WHAT DID YOU SAY?! Zhengshi Company’s General Manager is our son?! You’re telling me Zhengran is now some multi-millionaire CEO?!”

He practically deafened Lin Xiaoli. Luckily, she was ready and covered her ears. Typical—they were two of a kind.

After he finally calmed down, Lin Xiaoli nodded excitedly, fists clenched in joy:

“That’s right! Our Zhengran is a big-shot CEO now! And remember that girl who visited our house with a bunch of gifts before?

“She’s not just any girl—she’s Zhengshi Company’s Vice General Manager! And not just the branch I went to today—the head company’s Vice GM! The Angel Girl, Jiang Jingshi! You can even look her up in the news!”

Lin Yingjun stared like a stunned statue, jaw dropped and eyes wide:

“Oh my god. This sounds completely f***ing insane.”
