Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten

Chapter 278: Birthday Wish

Lin Zhengran stared at Little He Qing’s shy expression, gently touching her soft, squishy cheeks.

“We just ate. We should at least wait a bit for the food to settle first.”

Her face turned even redder, because what he meant was that they could do that later tonight. Yay:

“Then... before that, I want to show you something good.”

She fumbled around in her pocket and pulled out another roll of stockings.

Lin Zhengran hadn’t expected there to be another one.

“You packed two rolls for the trip?”

Little He Qing didn’t answer. She just tore open the new roll and unfolded it, holding it up in front of her face in embarrassment to show Lin Zhengran.

“These two are different. The one that fell on the floor earlier was regular tights. This one is... a lingerie stocking. I bought both kinds online.”

Lin Zhengran looked at the white stockings. They really weren’t the same style as regular ones.

The design was different.

He burst out laughing, “You really have grown up.”

Little He Qing was so embarrassed she could only peek at him through the stockings.

Lin Zhengran ordered, “Since you brought it, don’t be shy. Put it on and show me.”

He Qing pressed her lips tightly together.

“C-Can I change in the bathroom...? I’m a little embarrassed... because once I put it on, it'll basically be like wearing nothing...”

“Alright.”

“Thank you. I’ll go change then.”

She hopped off the bed and rushed into the bathroom, shutting the door. After a while of fiddling around,

Little He Qing tiptoed out wearing the white stockings.

But she was pulling hard at the hem of her white shirt, trying her best to cover up her thighs wrapped in the sheer fabric.

“I-I'm done changing, Lin Zhengran.”

Wearing the white stockings, Little He Qing really looked like a delicate little cake. From her feet to her calves to her thighs, it was all so perfectly seamless, giving off a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth vibe.

Lin Zhengran admired her for a while. Under the moonlight, Little He Qing was like a piece of living art, and that blush on her face made her even more heart-stirring. He reached out his hand. “Come here.”

He Qing took a few steps forward and grabbed his hand,

only for him to pull her down onto the bed.

“Still thinking about sleeping tonight?” he asked.

Hearing this, Little He Qing’s heart raced. She hesitated and said, “I don't really want to sleep... but if we stay up all night, can your body handle it? I read in books that boys... apparently have limits. Your health is more important.”

“That’s boys in novels, not me.”

Right after saying that, Lin Zhengran pulled the blanket over them.

Little He Qing let out a squeal, and soon the only sounds left in the room were the sweet noises of kissing.

Several hours of intimacy followed.

Unlike the first time, with all the clumsiness and worry,

this time, Little He Qing wasn’t scared at all anymore.

In fact, she missed it.

Everything came naturally as she got close to Lin Zhengran again,

and she could fully enjoy the beauty of their love for a long, long time.

A little past eleven at night, Little He Qing was still snuggled up to Lin Zhengran, clinging to his neck, trying to steal more kisses.

But Lin Zhengran grabbed her hand. “Alright, it’s almost midnight. We need to celebrate your birthday.”

Little He Qing’s eyes were full of soft, dreamy light. She blurted out without thinking, “How about we skip the birthday and just keep going?”

“What?” he laughed.

Only after speaking did Little He Qing realize what she had said. Her face turned beet red, and she quickly covered her face with both hands, refusing to admit a word.

“Lin Zhengran, I didn’t say anything. You heard nothing.”

Lin Zhengran thought to himself that this girl was way more hooked than last time: “Eat the cake, make your birthday wish, then we can continue.”

Peeking at him through the gaps in her fingers, Little He Qing asked quietly,

“Really? Then... fine. Let’s eat some cake and rest a bit, but you have to promise we’ll continue afterward.”

He chuckled and nodded.

Both of them put on simple pajamas. Lin Zhengran didn’t even bother getting out of bed.

Instead, imitating a trick he’d seen a certain little fox do before, he spread a blanket over the covers,

then placed the cake on top, so they could eat without dirtying the sheets.

Still a little dazed from all the love and pampering, Little He Qing helped him lay the blanket out.

Lin Zhengran noticed she didn’t look tired at all. “Compared to last time, you seem to be handling it a lot better this time.”

Little He Qing blushed and whispered, “Kinda... I don’t even know why. Ever since that first time in the hotel, my whole body’s felt way more relaxed. Especially my neck. I had a bit of a sore neck before, but now I don’t feel it at all.”

“Sore neck?”

“Oh, one night I stayed up too late reading novels under the covers. Got a little stiff neck. But it wasn’t serious! Still, after we did that, the stiff feeling just totally disappeared. Weird, right?”

Seeing a little sweat on her forehead, Lin Zhengran brushed her bangs aside and checked the time.

Still ten minutes till midnight.

“Have you thought about what wish you want to make?”

Little He Qing was about to answer, but Lin Zhengran cut her off: “Don’t make it the same wish you made with the shooting star. Otherwise, it’ll be a waste.”

That instantly threw Little He Qing into a dilemma, because from childhood till now, her wish had always been the same: to always be with Lin Zhengran.

But now... she asked in a small voice:

“Is it really bad if it’s the same... does it matter that much?”

Lin Zhengran was surprised: “You were really planning to wish for the same thing?” Then it hit him — after all, you’re not supposed to say your birthday wish out loud, so he hadn’t thought about it earlier. But now he realized: “He Qing, don’t tell me you’ve been making the same wish your whole life?”

Little He Qing nodded obediently. “Yup, always the same.”

“No way. You mean for eighteen years you’ve made the exact same wish?”

“Uh-huh. Every time it’s been to stay with you forever. Any time I get to make a wish, it’s always that.”

Lin Zhengran was deeply moved. Looking at this silly girl, he realized she would probably stay the same her whole life.

He couldn’t resist flicking her forehead.

Little He Qing yelped and clutched her head. “Ow! That hurt~ But you haven’t flicked me in so long. I kinda missed it.”

Lin Zhengran was speechless: “I seriously can't with you. Who else makes the same wish for eighteen years straight?”

“Is it that bad..?”

Rubbing her forehead, Little He Qing mumbled, “But that’s really my biggest wish. Ever since you protected me when we were kids, I just wanted to stay by your side forever. That’s all I ever wanted.”

Lin Zhengran sighed.

He helped her rub her forehead and decided not to argue anymore.

“Forget it. Your wish is your business. Wish for whatever you want. But... you already wished on the shooting star recently. Making the same wish so soon might clash. Don’t you have another one?”

“It would really clash?!” She panicked. She couldn’t risk messing up that wish. “Then... I’ll think of another one...”

Little He Qing thought hard, remembering all the moments from their trip over the past few days.

Then she recalled the old couple they saw yesterday washing each other's hair.

“I got it! I want... you to wash my hair.”

“Wash your hair?”

“Yup, wash my hair.” She found a picture on her phone and showed it to Lin Zhengran.
