Chapter 442 - 442 431 Qiao Mengtong is Publicly Driven Out
Chapter 442: Chapter 431: Qiao Mengtong is Publicly Driven Out Chapter 442: Chapter 431: Qiao Mengtong is Publicly Driven Out Qiao Mengtong snorted arrogantly and tilted her chin upwards.
“Of course, who do they think I am? Although Qiao Jing just went straight in, I know what she’s like. She must have used some despicable means to get that opportunity.”
The little assistant quickly agreed, nodding vehemently.
“Yeah, Sister Mengtong is right! The moment I saw Qiao Jing, I knew she was no good! Let’s go inside and eat!”
Qiao Mengtong walked up to the front desk clerk, presenting her ticket to the staff member.
“Can we go in now?”
The server’s earpiece buzzed, and she revealed an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but I need to listen to an emergency message first.”
Qiao Mengtong furrowed her brows in impatience, just as she was about to scold the server, she noticed that the server put her hand down from her ear.
She rolled her eyes, speaking in a hostile tone.
“You actually put off attending to me to listen to a message? Have you finished listening now? Can you have another server bring us inside?”
The little assistant, buoyed by Qiao Mengtong’s presence, put her hands on her hips.
“Is this the kind of attitude you have when serving customers? I don’t care if it’s urgent or not, take us in to dine right now.”
The server swapped to a professional smile, gesturing for them to follow her.
Upon seeing the gesture, Qiao Mengtong immediately strode towards Zhouhuan Restaurant.
However, she had only taken a few steps when the server stopped her.
“What are you doing? Blocking a customer?! Do you know I’m related to Manager Zhang? You dare to stop even me?”
The server made the inviting gesture again, reminding her:
“Ma’am, you misunderstood my gesture. I was asking you to go outside, not into the restaurant.”
Only then did Qiao Mengtong notice that the server’s gesture was indeed directing her outside, not inside.
She widened her eyes, pointing her finger at the server’s nose, almost poking it.
“What do you mean? You’re asking a customer to leave? Are you deaf? I already told you I’m a relative of Manager Zhang, and you still—”
Before she could finish her rant, she saw Manager Zhang coming out of the shop.
Qiao Mengtong’s eyes brightened instantly, and she glared viciously at the server.
“Just you wait, my cousin is right there, and in a moment, you’ll be fired!”
The server maintained her professional smile, not responding to Qiao Mengtong’s words.
Before Qiao Mengtong could speak to Manager Zhang, she noticed that he exited with a pale face.
Moreover, he had taken off his jacket, was without his work ID, and was carrying a backpack in his hand.
She approached him, puzzled, and asked:
“Cousin? What happened to you? Why are you out here?”
When Manager Zhang saw it was Qiao Mengtong, he slammed his backpack onto the ground, his eyes nearly bulging out of his head.
“Qiao Mengtong! You have the gall to ask me?! If it weren’t for you, how could I possibly be fired? If you hadn’t pestered me to death to cut in the line, I would never have agreed! You owe me an explanation now!”
The triumphant look on Qiao Mengtong’s face froze, and she stood there dumbfounded, turning to look at the server by the door.
The server smiled.
“Ma’am, as you can see, Manager Zhang has been fired, or rather, he should now be referred to as Mr. Zhang. Today, you were the only one who sought Mr. Zhang for assistance, which is why you can’t go in.”
The little assistant noticed the stares from the people around and tugged on Qiao Mengtong’s hand.
“Sister Mengtong, there are so many people looking at us, let’s hurry up and leave. It’d be bad if we’re recognized,” said the assistant.
Qiao Mengtong didn’t want to confront her almost hysterical cousin, so she grabbed her assistant and ran in the other direction.
At this moment, Manager Zhang was so angry that his teeth itched, but he didn’t have the energy to chase after Qiao Mengtong and could only stand still.
Qiao Mengtong had just run a few steps when she suddenly stopped, unwilling to give in, she looked up towards the upper levels of the Zhouhuan Restaurant.
Why could that little bitch Qiao Jing get in there?
What the hell was going on with her cousin’s issue?
Could it have been the matter of cutting in line that was found out?
Could all this have something to do with Qiao Jing?
As she looked up, she met someone’s gaze.
Qiao Jing was standing at the window of the third-floor VIP room, looking down on them from her high vantage, an innate powerful presence around her. Just this look from above made them feel surrounded by a chill.
At this point, Qiao Mengtong wished she could find a hole to crawl into, especially since she had boasted in front of Qiao Jing just before and hadn’t expected that she would be the one unable to enter in the end.
Now that Qiao Jing was looking down at her, she instantly felt like a mere ant, while Qiao Jing was the Emperor.
She lowered her head and, tail between her legs, ran off with her assistant.
Standing by the window with Qiao Jing was Zhan Nanqing. She laughed out loud when she saw Qiao Mengtong fleeing.
“Hahaha! Let’s see if she dares to show off again, having the audacity to come flaunt herself in front of us?”
Su Manhan put down her chopsticks, looking puzzledly towards Qiao Jing.
“What’s up?”
Zhan Nanqing happily returned to Su Manhan’s side and sat down.
“Qiao Mengtong left, she couldn’t get in, hahaha, you should have seen her slinking away just now. I forgot to take a video on my phone, but I should watch it whenever I’m feeling down—it’d definitely make me laugh my head off.”
Hearing this, Su Manhan’s mouth curled up into a smile as well.
“Why didn’t you say so earlier? I would have gone to see for myself. Qiao Mengtong has some nerve, talking to my daughter-in-law like that! Does she really think the Zhan Family is dead or something?”
Qiao Jing slowly returned to her seat without a word as she watched the mother and daughter continue to discuss the event.
To make it easier for the waitstaff to clean up later, she tidied up her own dishes and utensils.
Yu Yangqi was still not giving up, eagerly following Qiao Jing.
“Boss, I drove her away—are you satisfied now?” he quickly said before Qiao Jing could reply.
“You must be satisfied, right? I didn’t see it and even I’m relieved. So, help me set up a meeting with Ni Yue just one more time, Boss. I believe you can do it, just this last time!”
Qiao Jing’s chest heaved deeply, and she pulled at the corner of her mouth, somewhat at a loss for words.
“You said the same thing last time, that you’d only need my help once, and after that, it was all up to you,” she said.
She wasn’t reluctant to help the second-in-command; she was worried he would get punched by Ni Yue again.
Last time, when Ni Yue saw a man sitting next to her, she didn’t say a word; she simply left.
As a result, he chased after her like an idiot, and instead, Ni Yue slapped him.
Even so, he still hadn’t given up, and she really didn’t know what else to do.
Yu Yangqi let out a long sigh, looking up at the ceiling.
“Boss, if you don’t help me, I might end up alone for the rest of my life. I’ve finally fallen for someone, so please, just help me out. I know you’re close with Ni Yue. If I manage to get her, I’ll give the Zhouhuan Restaurant as a dowry to you, my matchmaker. As for Ni Yue’s family, I’ve got that covered too.”
What do you think?
