Chapter 431 - 431 420 Shall We Adopt Pingping and Anan
Chapter 431: Chapter 420: Shall We Adopt Pingping and Anan? Chapter 431: Chapter 420: Shall We Adopt Pingping and Anan? Hearing the deliberately paused words “by hand” from Zhan Qipei, a crack appeared on Qiao Jing’s previously expressionless face.
She grew increasingly speechless and twitched the corner of her mouth, moving forward without looking back with the two little ones.
After returning home.
Qiao Jing settled the two little ones and waited for them to fall asleep before heading to the bathroom for a shower.
As she was walking toward her own room, drying her hair with a towel, she noticed that the light in her room was on.
Qiao Jing paused in her hair drying, quickening her pace.
Arriving at the door of her room, she saw Zhan Qipei sitting at her desk, working on his notebook.
Why would he be working in her room? Could there be something special in her room, or something that could specifically lure Zhan Qipei?
Qiao Jing placed the towel aside and sat down at the edge of her bed.
“Why are you in my room?”
Zhan Qipei paused in his typing and without hesitation, closed his notebook.
Before he closed the notebook, Qiao Jing heard Tang Yan’s voice coming from it.
“Boss! This is the last task——”
Tang Yan hadn’t finished speaking when the video was turned off, followed swiftly by the closing of the notebook.
Qiao Jing raised her faintly drawn eyebrows, her phoenix eyes filled with puzzlement.
“You haven’t answered my question yet.”
She wanted to know why this damn man showed up uninvited.
Zhan Qipei glanced at the towel the woman had placed aside and pressed his thin lips together.
“I’ll help you dry your hair.”
Qiao Jing touched the ends of her slightly damp hair with her fingertips, which were faintly flushed, and then looked up at Zhan Qipei.
“It’s already dry.”
Zhan Qipei furrowed his misty long eyebrows and, hesitating for a moment, found himself another suitable excuse.
“You haven’t had a stomach massage for a while, let me massage it for you.”
Qiao Jing feigned a thoughtful demeanor, furrowing her eyebrows.
“I don’t really need a massage right now.”
She was curious to see what Zhan Qipei was really up to today.
Zhan Qipei’s eyebrows were tightly knit, and he parted his thin lips slightly.
“Massage is good for the body.”
Perhaps he should have stuck to his previous habit of waiting until Qiao Jing fell asleep before coming over to climb into bed with her.
This time he was too impulsive; he thought that using the excuse of a massage would make Qiao Jing agree to let him stay.
Qiao Jing casually leaned against the headboard, glanced sideways, and raised her eyebrows playfully.
“I’m curious, what exactly in my room attracts you?”
She asked knowingly, eager to see how the man would respond.
“There is.” A single word emerged from the man’s sensually thin lips, his low, mellifluous voice as seductive as the sound drawn from a cello.
Qiao Jing narrowed her eyes slightly, her vermilion lips parting slightly.
“What?”
Zhan Qipei lifted the corners of his mouth and stood up, approaching Qiao Jing.
“You.”
A sudden pulse throbbed at Qiao Jing’s temple, her ear tips grew warm, and tightening her lips, she spat out two words.
“Get out.”
She knew this damn man could never say anything proper.
Zhan Qipei had already uttered several such unfruitful comments today, more frequently than before.
What on earth had gotten into this damn man?
Zhan Qipei sat beside Qiao Jing, his gaze lowered, always carrying a faint sorrow.
He deliberately feigned an injured expression, placing his hands gently on Qiao Jing’s stomach.
“Let’s limit it to five minutes.”
He certainly couldn’t climb into bed with Qiao Jing while she was awake now, but he could wait until she fell asleep to come in.
After seeing Zhan Qipei adopt such an expression, Qiao Jing hesitated for a moment, staring at the man’s face.
“Just five minutes.”
If she didn’t agree, Zhan Qipei would surely pester her again.
Compared to this obstinate man, she felt truly inferior.
Zhan Qipei quickly sat down on Qiao Jing’s bed, positioned himself beside her, and carefully began to massage her.
His dark eyes fixated on Qiao Jing’s slightly protruding belly, his hands moving with a gentleness and proficiency.
Qiao Jing watched the man’s cautious movements, her gaze falling on her own stomach.
Suddenly, the image of the shop assistant mistaking her and Zhan Qipei as the parents of the two little ones surfaced in her mind.
In the future, when she and Zhan Qipei went out with the three babies in her belly, would others recognize them as a family at first glance?
What would the three babies say then? What would their little expressions look like?
Qiao Jing’s thoughts were interrupted by the man’s low voice.
“Should we adopt Pingping and Anan?”
Qiao Jing was startled, and after coming back to her senses, she realized what she had just been thinking about.
In her heart, she had already begun to envision her life ahead, a life that included Zhan Qipei.
Since when had she started to include Zhan Qipei in her future plans?
Zhan Qipei noticed the woman was daydreaming and arched his eyebrows.
“Qiao Jing?”
What could be making Qiao Jing so deep in thought, as if she had lost her soul?
Could it be the stray cats and dogs outside?
That wouldn’t do!
Qiao Jing finally snapped back to reality, and upon thinking about Zhan Qipei’s words, she furrowed her brows, surprise surfacing in her eyes.
“How did you suddenly think of adopting Pingping and Anan?”
Without waiting for Zhan Qipei to answer, she continued.
“I’ve thought about adopting them too, but it’s not feasible; we have to work, we don’t have that much time to look after them.
If they go to the orphanage, they can get more comprehensive care and better education. The experiences of the children there are similar to theirs, so they won’t feel out of place.”
She hadn’t expected Zhan Qipei to suggest adopting Pingping and Anan, because in her view, the man did not get along with the two little ones.
Moreover, Zhan Qipei was jealous of Pingping and Anan; having spent the past few days with them, his attitude towards the little ones had been lukewarm.
So hearing Zhan Qipei mention adopting Pingping and Anan, she was initially a bit incredulous.
Zhan Qipei’s brows were tightly furrowed, his massaging hands continuing without pause, and he pondered for a moment.
“I see that they are quite sensible, so I considered adopting them, but looking at the current situation, let’s forget about it.”
His wife made some very good points.
Although he had considered the issues she mentioned and didn’t think they were significant, the last point she made was the most important.
If Pingping and Anan were always around children who had parents, they would inevitably feel a disparity, which could impact their growth environment.
But if they went to the orphanage, they wouldn’t have this problem.
His wife is really thoughtful!
She considered everything so thoroughly.
Qiao Jing gave a hum, closed her eyes, and prepared to take a short nap.
“I’m planning to send them to the orphanage tomorrow; I can’t rest easy when they’re at home alone while we’re both at work.”
Zhan Qipei agreed.
“Alright, I’ll drive them there tomorrow.”
What do you think?
