Chapter 441: Livestream
"The account you follow, Real King Metagross, has started their live broadcast."
Anyone who saw this notification on the TikTok app immediately opened it.
The screen showed Julian walking through the Imperial University campus, sipping coffee, with Metagross by his side.
The stream had just started, but the viewer count had already surpassed ten thousand and was rapidly rising.
On TikTok, Julian had over a hundred million followers.
> "First!"
> "Julian is finally live! This is his first time, right?"
> "Fake fan above! This is actually his second time."
> "Where is this? I see a lot of beautiful ladies."
> "Streamer, could you move aside? You're blocking my view of Metagross."
In less than a minute, the viewer count surged past a million and kept climbing. Julian spoke up, "I'm currently at Imperial University, let me show you around the campus."
"Since the college entrance exams are in half a month, I'll give you a preview of the campus environment."
The main reason Julian was streaming this time was that Imperial University had asked him to promote, aiming to attract the top students.
Their goal? To make sure their rival, Shu University, didn’t get a single new student this year.
Of course, that was just wishful thinking, but they were definitely serious about suppressing Shu’s influence.
> "Wow, giving us an early tour of Imperial University—now that’s what I call the art of persuasion!"
> "Imperial University is great, but it won’t stop me from attending a third-rate college."
> "Class of 2000, Imperial Capital grad here."
> "Class of 2009 here."
Seeing the comments, Julian smiled, "Looks like we have quite a few seniors here."
> "King Julian, where exactly are you on campus? Why do I see villas?"
"This is the freshman campus. The villas are for the Special Recruitment Class students. Regular students live in a four-person dorms."
"This one right here is mine."
As he spoke, Julian gave a brief introduction about the Special Recruitment Class at Imperial University.
"There’s not much else to see here, let’s check out another part of campus."
The villa area wasn’t particularly interesting, and the viewers didn’t seem eager to see it either.
Wondering what they might want to see, Julian thought for a moment and decided to head over to the Music Academy.
> "King Julian really gets us!"
> "This place is heaven!"
> "Why not the Sports Academy? I want to see some muscular men."
> "I want to see the Trainer Academy!"
At Imperial University, the Music Academy didn’t hold a particularly high status in terms of academics. However, among the students—especially the male ones—it ranked in the top three.
That was because the Music, Fine Arts, and Dance Academies together made up nearly 60% of the female student population, making them a dream destination for countless male students.
The students there were naturally skilled in one or even multiple instruments.
And ever since Pokémon appeared, music itself had evolved. New forms of performance emerged, where people and Pokémon played together in harmony.
Along the path, many students could be seen with Kricketune by their side.
The sound of a Kricketune, when combined with musical instruments, created melodies that were even more captivating than before.
Because of this, Kricketune had become a favorite among music students.
Jigglypuff was also popular, but everyone knew the consequences of its singing.
"And here we are at the Trainer Academy."
After briefly introducing a few other academies, Julian naturally placed the focus on the Trainer Academy.
In this world, the most sought-after and admired profession was that of a Pokémon Trainer.
Unlike the previous academies, where the atmosphere was more relaxed and the Pokémon looked gentle and friendly, the Trainer Academy was completely different.
Here, Pokémon were everywhere—nearly every student had at least one by their side.
But the Pokémon at the Trainer Academy had a different look in their eyes.
Their gazes were sharper, filled with intensity, and many of them bore scars.
> "As expected of the Trainer Academy, there are so many rare Pokémon!"
> "That Blaziken that just walked by—its eyes were so fierce!"
> "Trainer Academy seriously lacks girls."
> "That’s why I didn’t apply to the Trainer Academy."
The atmosphere at the Trainer Academy was nothing like the others. Every student here was a professional trainer in the making.
Even though they were still students, being a trainer was a life-or-death profession. If they didn’t improve, they might not survive in the field.
Under this constant pressure and fierce competition, students squeezed every bit of time they had into training their Pokémon.
There was simply no time for romance, and that was why many trainers stayed single even in their thirties.
At the Trainer Academy, it was perfectly normal for students to go through four years of university without ever being in a relationship. Some might even graduate without having held a girl’s hand.
Out in the real world, people joked that being a trainer meant signing up for a "forever single" lifestyle.
Trainers were also called "green-hat wearers" (a slang term for being cheated on) or even "widow-makers" because of how often they were away.
When trainers were sent on missions, they could be gone for a week or two, or even several months.
During that time, if their partner wasn’t a trainer as well, it was all too easy for someone else to swoop in and take advantage of their absence.
"Let’s check out the battle arenas."
The Trainer Academy had an abundance of battle arenas—there was one every few hundred meters.
And they weren’t just practice grounds; they were all standard battle arenas, designed for serious training and combat.
"The Trainer Academy has plenty of battle arenas, but if you want to use one, you’ll need to book in advance. There are so many trainers here that it’s almost impossible to find an empty arena without a reservation."
As Julian spoke, he pointed his camera at one of the battle arenas.
On the field, a Scizor was locked in a fierce battle with a Rhyperior—and the most striking part was that the protective barrier wasn’t even activated.
Even from a distance, Julian could feel the shockwaves from their clash.
> "They’re battling without a barrier? That’s so dangerous! What if they get hurt?"
> "Do you think there are protective barriers in the wild?"
> "Are those seniors? Their strength seems even greater than my teacher’s!"
Julian spotted this comment in the chat and casually replied, "They’re freshmen. My classmates, actually."
He recognized the two trainers—they were also in the Special Recruitment Class, though he didn’t interact with them much.
> "No way! Freshmen?"
> "King Julian said they’re his classmates, and if he’s already at the Elite level, of course his classmates wouldn’t be weak either."
When they put it that way, it made sense.
The Special Recruitment Class had already reached pseudo-Elite level across the board.
However, once a Pokémon entered the pseudo-Elite stage, its leveling slowed significantly. It often took until senior year for most Pokémon to reach the peak of pseudo-Elite.
The battle ended with Rhyperior claiming victory.
Julian, having finished his brief stream, was signing off.
"That’s it for today, everyone."
"We’ve just scratched the surface, but if you’re curious and want to see more, come visit Imperial University next time!"
With that, Julian ended the stream, and since it was part of a university assignment, completing it had earned him some extra credits.
