Pokemon: Reborn Rich Alternate Earth

Chapter 406: Metagross

"Bagon, use Bite!"

In the backyard, Julian commanded Bagon to attack Dragonite.

The tiny but fierce Bagon dashed forward, opened its mouth, and clamped down onto Dragonite’s tail with all its might, as if trying to bite it clean off.

But the result…

Bagon clutched its aching mouth, and looked at Julian with tears in its eyes, it felt as if its teeth had just shattered.

With a grieved expression, Bagon ran straight to Julian and clung to his leg.

"There, there."

Julian picked it up gently, soothing it in a soft voice, before taking out a PokéBlock and giving it to Bagon.

Dragonite glanced at its own tail, and for the first time, it felt that having such hard scales might not be a good thing—after all, it had almost broken its little brother’s teeth.

Gabite walked up to Bagon, towering over it with a stern expression and spoke in a gruff voice.

Gabite: "Stop crying, this little bit of pain is nothing. If your teeth break, just grow new ones."

The fierce tone only made Bagon cry even louder.

Before it could say anything else, Dragonite slapped Gabite straight to the ground.

Dragonite: "He's still just a baby! Why are you scaring him like that?"

Gabite looked at Dragonite with an aggrieved face. He was doing it for Bagon's own good—after all, as a Dragon-type pseudo-legendary, how could it cry.

'Real men shed blood and sweat, but never tears!'

But then again, Bagon had only been born ten days ago, so Julian wasn’t expecting too much from it just yet.

No matter whether it was its potential or egg moves, this Bagon was truly exceptional—a testament to the high-quality egg provided by Duke.

After crying in Julian’s arms for a while, Bagon suddenly grabbed his clothes with its tiny hands and looked at Julian expectantly.

Julian sighed, then smiled.

"Alright, alright."

Julian smiled, and handed it over to Dragonite.

"Fly slow, don’t go too far, and be back before dinner," Julian instructed.

Every Bagon dreams of soaring through the sky, and even the one that was only ten days old was no exception.

As Bagon let out a cheerful cry, Dragonite shot into the sky with it.

At the same time, the two Swellow also took off, following behind.

Over the past few days, they had grown familiar with Julian’s Pokémon, and Slowking had started feeding them PokéBlocks from time to time.

Of course, these weren’t System-made PokéBlocks—just the ones bought from outside.

After all, Julian wasn't that generous yet.

And the reason they weren’t fed all the time but only occasionally was entirely out of consideration for their own safety.

After all, once the Pokémon Egg hatched, the Swellow couple would leave. If they got too used to Slowking’s feeding, they might lose some of their survival instincts in the wild—or worse, refuse to leave altogether.

At the same time, they could become too dependent on humans, assuming all humans were as good as Julian.

Not that Julian particularly minded having two extra mouths to feed, but...

That wasn’t the outcome he wanted.

There was still over an hour before dinner, so Julian asked, "Slowking, what’s for dinner tonight?"

Celebi immediately jumped out and shouted: "Barbecue!"

"We just had that a few days ago."

Celebi: "You ate yesterday, but that didn’t stop you from eating again today, right?"

Julian was speechless, this little thing was getting more and more comfortable at talking back to him.

It ate his food, drank his drinks, lived in his house, and now even talked back to him.

Celebi: "Come on, you’re so handsome—what’s wrong with having some barbecue?"

When it came to reading the mood and expressions, Celebi was an expert.

Julian: "Alright, fine. Barbecue it is."

He swore that it was definitely not because Celebi said he was handsome that he agreed.

It was just that if he refused, Celebi would start fighting him over the position during ranked matches tonight.

Slowking: "Slow~"

Nodding, Slowking went inside to grab its little shopping basket and headed out to buy ingredients. Since Celebi had a huge appetite, Slowking also called for Lucario to help carry the food.

Steelix wanted to tag along too.

But Julian immediately smacked it on the head.

"And where do you think you’re going? You can’t even fit through the supermarket doors!"

For such a big guy, its brain sure wasn’t keeping up.

Steelix turned to look at Julian’s reddened hand.

'Doesn't it hurt?'

To be honest, it really did.

But with Steelix staring at him like that, Julian couldn’t just admit it.

"Hmph, since you’re begging for mercy, I’ll let you off this time."

With that, he gave Metagross a look, the latter understood and immediately landed a punch on Steelix’s forehead.

Metagross: "Of all the people to mess with, you just had to choose this petty one."

Steelix: "Master! Metagross just called you petty!"

Julian, who was about to leave, turned to stare at Metagross.

Boom!

Metagross didn’t say a word—just threw another punch. This time, it knocked Steelix out cold.

Julian: "Hmph"

With that Julian went back inside, meanwhile, Metagross stayed in the backyard and started digging a hole.

Curious, Doublade floated over and asked: "Boss, what are you doing?"

Metagross: "Digging a hole to bury this guy."

It pointed at Steelix at it spoke.

Hearing the word "dig", Arcanine's ears perked up. 'Now that's something I'm good at!'

Excited, it jumped in to help, using its front paws to dig furiously. Dirt flew everywhere, and the hole grew deeper at a speed visible to the naked eye.

However, Arcanine suddenly felt a chill run down its back, it froze mid-action, then slowly turned around.

'Oh… right,' it forgot that Metagross was right behind it.

Looking at Metagross covered from head to toe in dirt, Arcanine smiled sheepishly.

Arcanine: "Uh… how about I let you throw some dirt on me too?"

"Kekekeh...!"

Gengar clutched its stomach, rolled on the ground, and laughed while pointing at the distraught Metagross.

Its loud laughter woke up Melmetal, who had been taking a nap nearby. Drowsily, Melmetal opened its eyes—and saw a dark, shadowy figure right in front of it.

'What the f**k!'

Acting purely on instinct, Melmetal swung a massive fist forward.

Metagross, caught completely off guard, was sent flying. Like a meteor, it smashed directly into Gabite, who had just been holding up Aggron.

The collision sent Gabite flying, and without Gabite, Aggron who lost its support—crashed straight down.

"BOOM!"

The entire backyard shook under the Aggron's fall.

Aggron, now sitting on the ground, scratched the back of its head, something… felt weird.

Standing up, it turned to look—only to see a black, flattened shape beneath it.

'…Huh? A giant frying pan?'

Curious, Aggron reached down and pulled out the black shape from the ground, and took a closer look.

Aggron: "Metagross it’s you! Wait, why did the change color? Did you dye yourself?"

The four-brained Metagross was seconds away from a complete system failure, right now, it only had one thought.

Metagross: "TODAY I’M EITHER KILLING YOU ALL, OR BE KILLED BY YOU."

"BOOOOOM!!"

Inside the house, Julian had just sat down on the couch, casually scrolling through his phone.

And then—

It felt like his entire house just exploded.
