Chapter 413: Grand Opening at Moonlight Town

The morning sun spilled over Moonlight Town in a soft amber glow, the cobblestone streets glistening with dew from the night’s passing. The lanterns that had lit the way in the darkness were now dimmed, replaced by the early warmth of day and the hum of villagers beginning their routines. A light breeze played with the hanging flower baskets and the scent of fresh bread wafted from distant homes.

Seraphis walked with steady purpose along the winding path from her small rented apartment toward her bakery-forge hybrid shop. Her white hair fluttered like silk in the morning light, and her eyes, pale and piercing, reflected a quiet excitement. Today was different. Today, everything changed.

As she reached the small building, with its charming sign carved in the shape of a curled dragon wrapped around a whisk and an anvil, she pulled open the door and stepped inside. A small bell chimed overhead.

“Good morning,” she said softly.

Rowan looked up from behind the counter, already organizing parchment bags and setting small glass jars of toffee sprinkles on a side shelf. Her soft brown hair was tied into a loose braid, and flour already dusted her cheeks.

“Good morning!” Rowan replied brightly, beaming. “Ready for today?”

Seraphis nodded, then walked further into the room. Sunlight poured in through the large glass display windows, casting gentle beams over the glass cases that held her most prized creations — the Oceanic Sorcery Cheesecake, the Starlit Caramel Dream Cheesecake, and a tray of glitter-dusted tarts.

“For today…” Seraphis began, placing her hand gently on the polished counter. “How about we open up shop and start selling?”

Rowan blinked and then grinned. “Alright. Let’s do it.”

Seraphis glanced toward the display, then stepped back with a thoughtful expression. “We should come up with something to help get people in,” she murmured. “Something... water-themed maybe. Refreshing. It’s been a little warm lately.”

She stood still, thinking. Then, with a sudden snap of realization in her eyes, she turned to a clean sheet of parchment on the side table and began scribbling with graceful precision.

Seraphis finished writing, then quickly made several copies with a duplication spell she had learned from an old spellbook tucked in the forge’s backroom. The ink shimmered faintly, a magical hue that seemed to shift between silver and blue as the light caught it.

“I’ll go hand these out and tell people about the store,” Seraphis said, rolling up the stack of parchments and tying them with a soft blue ribbon.

“Okay,” Rowan nodded, already starting to arrange the display plates with utmost care. “I’ll keep everything prepped.”

Seraphis stepped out into the morning light, parchment papers in hand, and made her way through the heart of Moonlight Town.

She stopped at the town square first, where children were playing near the fountain and a few vendors were setting up morning stalls. She unfurled one parchment and began handing them to passersby with calm but warm energy.

“Hello,” she said to an older man arranging baskets of apples. “We’re opening a new shop today. Magical sweets and specialty items — you should come by.”

The man took the paper, squinting at the shimmer. “Starlit Caramel Dream? That sounds... divine.” He smiled. “I’ll stop by with the missus.”

She handed out more to a group of young adventurers heading toward the guild.

“We’ve got spirit-touched pastries,” she told them with a glint in her eye.

“Wait—like actual spirits? That’s sick,” one of the guys grinned. “We’ll swing by!”

She passed out the rest at the inn, the herbalist's, and even to a grumpy-looking noble who raised a brow but tucked it into his cloak nonetheless.

When she returned to the shop, it had already started to attract attention.

The doorbell chimed.

Then again.

And again.

People were walking in — couples, children holding their parents' hands, travelers drawn by the scent of vanilla, mint, and caramel in the air. One woman stood by the glass display, completely mesmerized by the shimmer of the chocolate pearls on the Starlit Caramel Dream. A pair of curious teens pointed at the Oceanic Sorcery Cheesecake, whispering about how it looked like the waves were actually moving inside.

“Is that real caramel?” one child asked, eyes wide as he pointed.

“Yes,” Rowan answered with a cheerful nod. “Drizzled fresh this morning.”

They sold five full slices within the first half hour. Then three more. Then two whole Starlit Caramel Dream Cheesecakes to a wealthy merchant who said he was taking them home to impress his in-laws.

Seraphis stood behind the counter, her fingers brushing over a fresh parchment, noting the sales, the reactions, the smiles. She watched as more people came in, enchanted by what they saw. Some just admired the sweets like art. Others took pictures with little magical camera crystals.

“I think they like it,” Rowan whispered beside her.

Seraphis nodded slowly, a small smile forming on her lips. “This is only the beginning.”

Outside, more customers arrived — drawn in by the glittering sign, the lingering scent of caramel and spirit-touched sugar, and the soft glow of magic that whispered promises of flavor, warmth, and wonder.
