Chapter 895: Action
Chapter 895: Action
Time after time, the plain shook violently, each of Loimos’s punches made the earth itself tremble, the repeated strikes should have since long turned this place into a canvas of cracks and ravines, but the spirit life kept up and constantly repaired all damage.
Blood and shards of teeth littered the ground around Milo as he under the constant assault of the pure undead, and even then, the quantity present around was not at all representative of the amount of damage he had sustained in just a few mere seconds, as that too was broken down by the realm, and since Milo was constantly healing at a rapid pace, it could go on for a long time.
The pulses of gold he was attempting to manifest so as to throw the undead off him were useless, it was dubious if Loimos even needed to actively guard against them to be unaffected, and the gold that tried to stick to him would rapidly shrivel up and die, incapable of doing anything to the wielder of festering death.
“Listen Milo, you can not just stay like this, if this goes on and you eventually run out of mana- I will not kill you, I will just stand up, leave you here and go your house, tear Helena’s head right off, rip Lizi’s arms off, disembowel Louizon, skin Alize alive, crush Zaya and Zally into paste against one another, crush little Griar underfoot” the undead spoke in the same, dead tone as usual, there was not even a hint of malice in his voice, only cold, pure factual statements, these were not threats, they were a telling of the future.
A more powerful pulse of gold arose, but once again, it was inconsequential.
“It would appear that appealing to your rage in such a manner is ineffective, shall I move ahead and slaughter some innocents instead?”
Loimos rose his fist and struck Milo once more as he finished completely healing, knocking half of his teeth out alongside a fair amount of blood, it seemed like his reputation to be a perfect undead and one who did not partake in what was not necessary was backfiring, the living had already understood that Loimos was fishing for something from him, and Milo was stubbornly refusing to listen.
He had gone as far as to block his sense of hearing using mana, meaning that that stronger pulse just now had nothing to do with the undead’s words.
The undead did not say anything, and sprouted bone claws from the tip of his fingers slashing Milo across the face, and specifically making sure to cut into his eyes, rising up and kicking the living away.
Then, Loimos kicked off the ground, heading straight for the house in the distance, the undead was indeed fast, but compared to what he was normally capable off, this was abysmal, it was not only due to the realm and the various conditions he had taken to be able to manifest using the fear within the livings inside, but also due to simply being inside of the barrier itself, it impaired his swiftness.
So it was to be expected that he was not able to reach the house without interference.
An arrow exploded against the side of his helm, spreading some sort of life-infused acid all over the place, which caused a bit of smoke to rise from the undead as it momentarily managed to do something, but the result was less than favourable in the eyes of the archer.
‘H-Holy shit, I just shot an arrow at Loimos, and it hit!’ Toby swallowed his saliva, out of everyone who had felt the overwhelming presence of the pure undead upon his arrival within the pyramid of life, he was the one most in the know about what was happening, and the exact location.
Just like when Milo had encountered the headhunter in white, Toby had received the nice little visit of the so-called ‘boss health bar’ at the bottom of his vision, the otherworlder even got to see something he had never seen before, as his special system even accompanied this with a series of messages saying that there was no chance of survival and that fleeing was the only option available.
He hadn’t gotten this even when the Nameless King had emerged, and that thing was supposed to be a paragon of absolute destruction and corruption, in fact, even when during the many battle during which many powerful undeads showed, none was able to elicit such a reaction from his system, but Loimos was able to cause it to clutter his vision with all sorts of warnings for a whole minute.
Toby had never actually gotten to see or fight the pure undead in person, and indeed, just being in that guy’s presence made his life force want to give up, his entire being felt like it should die as a sign of respect.
‘Breath in and out… He can’t be that strong here, right?’ Toby failed to convince himself, and nearly cried out when the undead turned his head toward him.
And the moment he did, the otherworlder saw the boss health bar shimmer in his vision.
The title that accompanied his name was not quite fixed in place, switching between multiple, as though even his system was incapable of truly grasping the essence of the pure undead, and did not dare categorise him.
But the one that remained the longest was as follows :
‘Loimos, The Fear’
Presumably because there was nothing and no one that did not experience just a feeling in his presence, even the trees and grass seemed to want to escape.
“Huh… Hello?” Toby wanted to fire another arrow, but his muscles were so stiff, he couldn’t even move at all, and the undead lunged at him, hand thrusting forward like a spear, Toby did not seem to benefit from being useful alive as the attack was headed straight for his head, and the otherworlder saw himself die before it even happened.
A golden shine erupted, and somehow, Toby was still alive as Milo tackled into the pure undead and actually managed to move him, even being able to exert his mana to fly into the air with the corpse.
As Loimos had thought, words were not enough, actions were necessary to get somewhere.
Freeing one of his arms, the undead swiftly elbowed Milo in the spine, causing them both to crash into the ground somewhere in a forest within the barrier, several trees exploded into showers of splinters as they landed, and dust was risen from the shattered earth.
Milo rapidly raised his guard, in the direction of where the cadaver had been launched into, but was immediately kicked from behind, going right through yet another tree.
‘Dammit…’ he coughed, something shone upon him.
“Hey kid”
“Huh?”
“Fighting Loimos, huh? I have a bit of experience in that, need some tips?”
What do you think?
