Chapter 538: 424. Eight Trigrams Formation
"Then may I ask how many players Your Excellency the Grand Inquisitor intends to include in the battle?"
Upon seeing the quick agreement from the other side, Michael's brows furrowed slightly. She couldn't quite understand where the confidence of this arrogant Clown came from.
However, it didn't matter. As a War Angel, War Chess, this kind of war simulation game, was her forte. She had never lost in her life, so no matter what kind of tricks this arrogant Clown was hiding, she was confident she could handle them.
Thus, she even generously passed the choice of the game's scale to the opponent.
"emmmm, let's each have 12 people then. I like the number 12, and besides, with fewer people, it'll end quicker. I don't have that much time to waste playing games with kids like you late into the night,"
Dorothy said without reserve. She thought for a moment and glanced at her subordinates, the Judges under her command, before speaking.
"Holy Knight, Ghost Mask, Little Bun, Star Burial, Frost Snow Lady, Uninvolved in Gambling and Prostitution, Child of the Forest, Stellar Speaker, Phantom Girl, Elemental Queen, Skywalker, Phoenix, you twelve have been chosen. Go entertain our esteemed guests,"
The Homebody Witch directly named the twelve strongest under her command to go.
As for the other Judges not called, they were slightly inferior to these twelve. It was easy to just give away points by sending them, so no need to let them embarrass themselves.
After all, Dorothy was only pretending to be haughty; she wasn't actually out of her mind with arrogance. She understood that the Angels on the other side were indeed not easy to deal with.
"These few unworthy subordinates of mine are all newcomers who have just joined the Judgment Court recently. They are all young, around the same age as you all, which makes them quite suitable to play with you kids. If you're not at ease, you can ask your Lord Sariel to take a look. Don't say I'm taking advantage of you,"
Upon the line-up of twelve Witches being presented, Dorothy said this.
The Angels, in turn, all looked toward their true leader, the Archangel Sariel.
The similarly androgynously beautiful silver-haired Archangel nodded his head when he saw their arrangement.
"Indeed, they are all young people."
Sariel's eyes shifted to the opposing Clown Grand Inquisitor, then uttered with a slight hint of surprise.
Dorothy: "....."
Tch, I asked you to check out the participants, why are you looking at me?
The Homebody Witch knew that her age was probably seen through by this ancient Archangel at a glance, but it didn't matter—this was not something that needed to be kept a big secret.
And having received the endorsement of Lord Sariel, the Angels' gazes inevitably turned toward the twelve Witches, the Witch Inquisitors. Michael scrutinized these soon-to-be opponents with seriousness.
Yet, Miss Seraph did not find these twelve Witches particularly difficult to deal with, no matter how she looked at them.
While the aura of these twelve young Witches was indeed fierce, surely making them top talents among Witches, by Heaven's standards, at best they were only at the level of Throne Angels, and okay, perhaps a few might barely reach the level of an Angel of Wisdom.
But that was about it.
Heaven placed great importance on this visitation mission. All seven Kings of Angels had sent over their prodigies, assembling a luxurious team of one hundred members, all of whom were from the Upper Triad of High-Order Angels.
Although there was only one Seraph—Michael herself—there were about thirty Angels of Wisdom, and the rest were all Throne Angels.
Therefore, although the Witch's lineup was indeed luxurious, Michael simply did not take it seriously; considering the talent reserves alone, it was clear that the Angels had the advantage, a massive advantage akin to flying dragons towering over faces.
However, due to concerns about the Clown Grand Inquisitor's mysteriously inexplicable confidence, Michael did not take this lightly and did not merely match the opponent with the same lineup. Miss Seraph directly selected twelve Angels of Wisdom from the Angel Delegation to form her own game lineup.
After choosing the participants, perhaps feeling she really was a bit of a bully, Michael spoke up again.
"Your Excellency the Clown, I can give you some time to regroup and prepare some Servant Armies."
The Seraph glanced at the chaotic troops behind the opposing Judges and said so.
The Angels' Servant Army was well-organized, a uniform group of Low-Ranking Angels.
Witches would not use weaker members of their own kind as Servant Armies; that was against the law. The equality of personality among Witches was a tone set by The Third King, and no Witch dared to cross that line.
Well, Dorothy's relationship with senior Fanny was an exception.
But it was quite clear there were no such humane rules in Heaven, where it was perfectly natural for Low-Ranking Angels to serve High-Rank Angels.
These Low-Ranking Angels, no matter how lowly, were still Angels of the Golden Calamity Race. They might just be the average commoners amongst the Golden Kind, but they were still far stronger than other Races, similar to how a thin Giant was still incomparable to a tall Dwarf.
Therefore, even as opponents, Michael felt she was being too much of a bully. The subordinates she sent out were stronger than those on the other side, and even the lowly Servant Army was far superior to the opposition. Such a stark disparity made the upcoming War Chess seem utterly one-sided, a crushing situation, and the proud Miss Seraph was not the type who enjoyed leveling up in Novice Village by fishing for low-level targets.
What do you think?
