Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Red Marks on the Neck
She was destined to rise above, a hint of smug laughter flashed across Li Lu’s eyes as she stealthily glanced at Lai Manting, who stood in the distance, and gracefully offered tea to Mrs. Feng.
One day, she would not only trample Lai Manting beneath her feet but also that despicable little Leng Yu Yan; she would crush her mercilessly!
After the tea ceremony, Leng Zongfa, uncharacteristically, pulled out a silver note for Li Lu, urging her to visit a tailor and purchase some clothes to avoid looking too shabby when appearing before the Emperor.
Li Lu respectfully excused herself and left with Aunt Hu.
Seeing the coast was clear, Leng Zongfa pointed at Lai Manting and berated her, “Your face isn’t even properly done, and you’re not pregnant either. What can you possibly compete for?”
Mrs. Feng tried to intervene, “My lord, please calm down. Does Manting not wish for a better look, or to bear Prince Liang’s child?”
Leng Zongfa glanced at Mrs. Feng, then addressed Lai Manting, “Instead of competing with your own sisters, you should think of ways to improve your look and how to capture Prince Liang’s heart!”
Swamped with grievance, Lai Manting had scant opportunities to even see Ye Zhenyu at Prince Liang Mansion, let alone bear his child.
She came to her parental home seeking comfort, only to be stifled with humiliation.
In a fit of anger, she took Jinju and stormed out of Mrs. Feng’s courtyard.
Mrs. Feng wanted to follow her, but Leng Zongfa stopped her.
“It’s good for her to face some setbacks, then she might figure out how to win over Prince Liang. The Crown Prince’s days are numbered. Even if Li Lu marries him, it will only be a vain title in the future,” Leng Zongfa spoke in a hushed tone. “The real Crown Prince needs heirs, and the current one is hopeless. Which Prince do you think has a chance?”
Mrs. Feng nodded, “I understand that you’re looking out for our daughter!”
Hurrying towards the main entrance, Lai Manting unexpectedly encountered an overjoyed Lai Jiajia returning home.
Seeing someone else so happy irked Lai Manting.
“Heh, I thought it was someone important. A Father carved from a lowly maid, occupying the title of a legitimate daughter without merit, inferior even to Li Lu.”
“Already not of young age, yet without a husband-to-be and always giggling, are you really that happy?”
Fuelled by her irritation, Lai Manting vented all her earlier frustrations, “Your father is lowly, your mother is lowly, birthing a little lowly creature like you…”
Initially, Lai Jiajia could overlook what Lai Manting said about her parentage, but she could no longer endure the insults.
She sprung forward, raining blows upon Lai Manting’s face and head.
Lai Manting was no pushover, and the two erupted into a physical fight.
Upon returning from school and seeing his own sister being beaten, Lai Xuan hurried to her aid.
Having been trained in martial arts by Li Yuyue and mentored by the Crown Prince, Lai Xuan, though young, tackled the fight with vigor.
In no time at all, he had Lai Manting crouching down, clutching her head and sobbing in pain.
“You siblings bullying a legitimate sister, such upbringing from the second branch!”
Hearing her still spewing malice, Lai Jiajia stepped forward and ripped off her veil, revealing a face streaked with white and grey from her tears, which was comically evident.
Lai Jiajia laughed, “I wondered why you started wearing a veil like the Commandery Princess. Turns out you developed spots on your face!”
Suddenly standing up, Lai Manting retorted, “I don’t have spots, you’re lying!”
“You know very well whether you have spots or not!” Lai Jiajia didn’t care to argue further, patting Lai Xuan on the shoulder, “Little brother, let’s go home.”
Excited, Lai Xuan asked, “Sis, has my kung fu improved?”
As the siblings headed towards their branch of the mansion, Lai Jiajia whispered, “It has improved! But, men shouldn’t hit women.”
Lai Xuan scoffed lightly, “Master said that the wicked need to be punished, and what we encountered just now was wicked!”
Lai Jiajia nodded, “Your master is right!”
“Sis, when can I meet Lady?”
Lai Jiajia murmured softly, “Lady’s father and our big brother currently face difficulties, and the Prince Mansion isn’t receiving visitors. We better not visit now; let’s wait for some time.”
Lai Manting watched Lai Jiajia and her younger brother walk away, her eyes nearly splitting with rage. As the second branch of the family had parasitized the Marquis Mansion for too long, she had to find a way to drive them out!

Leng Yu Yan followed Ye Yiheng to the Ninth Princess’s Xingning Palace.
Ye Jiu was quite surprised to see them arrive together and quickly ordered someone to arrange seats.
When she noticed the red mark on Leng Yu Yan’s neck, Ye Jiu covered her lips and laughed.
“The cold-hearted Sixth Brother has been bewitched by the Commandery Princess.”
Leng Yu Yan had no idea why she would say such a thing and blushed slightly, “Princess, please don’t talk nonsense!”
“Look, even your little face is blushing.” Ye Jiu smiled charmingly, “If I were a man, I would definitely compete with Sixth Brother. I wouldn’t compete for anything else, just for the Commandery Princess of Beilan right here.”
Ye Yiheng sat down smoothly with a calm voice, “I did not come here today for jokes.”
Ye Jiu then curbed her laughter and spoke seriously, “What brings Sixth Brother here?”
“Would you plead with our Imperial Grandmother to release the second oldest?”
“Sure.” Ye Jiu immediately agreed, “Leave it to me!”
Leng Yu Yan was a bit stunned. Was it that simple to agree?
She had thought of several explanations en route.
Seemingly noticing Leng Yu Yan’s confusion, Ye Jiu smiled and said, “Amongst all our siblings, the one with the worst temper is…”
She pointed at Ye Yiheng, who was undercover with an eye veil, and continued, “Therefore, I can only listen to him. Of course, when it comes to confronting him, this princess does not hold back either.”
“Thank you, Princess!” Leng Yu Yan thanked her, then curiously asked, “Doesn’t the Princess want to know why you should do this?”
Ye Yuan spoke frankly, “I have seen enough dirt in the palace. I knew what was happening in Cining Palace just by hearing about it that day.”
“The day I marry Heir Lai, the Commandery Princess will become my younger sister-in-law. This is the second reason I agreed so quickly today.”
As she talked, she smiled, “Sixth Brother cares for you deeply.”
Hearing this, Ye Yiheng suddenly exclaimed, “Too much talking.”
Then he rose to his feet, “Leng Yu Yan, help me return to the Eastern Palace.”
Leng Yu Yan nodded to Ye Jiu and then, supporting him, the two left Xingning Palace.
As they walked through the palace gate together, they heard the voice of Ji Qingyu from behind.
“A Yan, wait for me.”
As someone called out to Ji Qingyu as “Qingyu”, it angered the person she was supporting. At that moment, Leng Yu Yan didn’t know if stopping would anger him again, so she did not plan on stopping…
But she paused slightly.
It was Ye Yiheng who stopped walking, causing her to stop with him.
Ji Qingyu bit his back teeth, knowing the blind man could not see and needed someone’s support, but seeing A Yan assisting him made him uncomfortable.
If Uncle Emperor formally decreed their marriage, A Yan would become his fiancée, and he certainly would not allow his fiancée to support a blind man.
Although he thought this, Ji Qingyu still approached Leng Yu Yan with a proper smile on his face.
“A Yan, what brings you to the palace today?”
As Leng Yu Yan was about to say something, Ye Yiheng spoke first, “The Commandery Princess is accompanying me for a walk.”
That short sentence made Ji Qingyu’s hands clench behind his back.
“A Yan, is he forcing you?”
While asking, he noticed a red mark on her fair neck, which looked like a kiss…
What do you think?
