Chapter 671: Chapter 671 Send People to Guard
“I agree!” Lin Hong nodded and said, “Do whatever you want to do! As long as you don’t cause any trouble, I will absolutely not interfere!”
“Yes, Father!” Lin Yi bowed and responded.
Following that, Lin Yi left the Lin Residence and headed to the outskirts of the city, where he then found an inn to stay in.
After Lin Yi entered the city, Lin Hong had one of the Lin Family elders take Lin Yi away from the family and to a nearby mountain.
This mountain, known as Wanmo Peak, stood at the summit of a large mountain. Formations surrounded it from all sides, capable of withstanding attacks from any cultivator at the Nascent Soul Stage—it was indeed a treasured site.
“The people of the Lin Family are bold indeed, to have built such a place here. Aren’t they afraid of stealth attacks?” an elder remarked.
Lin Hong waved his hand dismissively and said, “They may not be afraid, but I am. They are the foundation of our Lin Family. If they were to be damaged, our Lin Family would have to perish along with them.
That’s why I would never allow such an event to occur! I will assign people to guard this place, and if anyone tries to attack, I will make sure they don’t return!”
“Yes, I understand!” The elder nodded and said.
After instructing about a few other matters, Lin Hong then left.
Lin Yi didn’t idle either and began to cultivate there.
“Junior Brother Lin Yi, you have been here for a while now. Do you know that your grandfather has been in seclusion for over two years? It’s time for you to return.”
While Lin Yi was cultivating, a middle-aged cultivator approached and spoke to him.
Lin Yi opened his eyes and said, “I already know. I’ll talk about it when I return from outside!”
“Hmm, okay then! Take care of yourself!” The middle-aged cultivator said and then left.
Lin Yi continued his cultivation, and time flew by. In the blink of an eye, he had reached the peak of the Fifth Layer of the Nascent Soul Stage.
Lin Yi stopped cultivating and left the inn, heading towards Wanmo Peak.
After searching around Wanmo Peak for many days, Lin Yi finally found Lin Hong’s dwelling place.
Looking at the towering and magnificent mountain range before him, Lin Yi couldn’t help but feel moved. The foundation of the Lin Family was indeed robust; all those who resided on Wanmo Peak were masters at the Nascent Soul Stage.
Just then, Lin Yi suddenly heard sounds coming from afar, growing clearer and clearer.
Lin Yi immediately ran to investigate and found that the sounds were coming from the summit of the mountain, so he dashed up to have a look.
Climbing up the peak, Lin Yi discovered that Lin Hong’s residence was at the highest point of the mountain. Moreover, the courtyard’s gate was locked. Lin Yi tried to open it but was unable to; the lock wouldn’t budge.
“Damn it!”
Lin Yi cursed under his breath and prepared to leave, but just then, he suddenly heard footsteps approaching.
Lin Yi’s expression changed slightly upon hearing the footsteps. He quickly hid and held his breath, watching intently as the footsteps grew closer to him.
After a moment, a middle-aged man dressed in a blue robe appeared in Lin Yi’s sight, and he immediately recognized him—it was his grandfather, Lin Hong.
At that instant, Lin Hong also saw Lin Yi and quickened his pace, soon reaching Lin Yi’s side.
When Lin Hong saw Lin Yi, a look of joy appeared on his face. However, he quickly suppressed the smile and looked at Lin Yi indifferently before saying, “What are you doing here?”
Upon hearing those words, Lin Yi’s face stiffened, and he explained, “I… I was just out for a walk…”
“Out for a walk? Hmph! Don’t think I don’t know, you unfilial son. Is it that you’ve betrayed the Lin Family and are trying to flee, seeking a life of ease on the outside?”
“I haven’t! I’m not that kind of person!”
Lin Yi quickly shook his head in denial, but his eyes flickered, and he couldn’t look directly into Lin Hong’s eyes.
“If you’re not that kind of person, then tell me, why did you come out here? Don’t you know that Wicked Demon Peak is forbidden territory and not to be tread upon lightly?” Lin Hong interrogated.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yi inwardly groaned. He hadn’t expected that Lin Hong would have guessed that he would leave the Lin Family.
Lin Yi felt secretly relieved that Lin Hong hadn’t told the family head about this. Otherwise, with his grandfather’s character, once he found out Lin Yi had betrayed the family, he would certainly be severely punished.
However, Lin Yi didn’t dare to tell the truth now, so he said, “Grandfather… I really didn’t know. One night, I saw it by accident. I thought it seemed like fun and wanted to give it a try. Only when I reached Wicked Demon Peak did I discover that the Formation there was formidable. I couldn’t just force my way through, so I could only retreat.”
“Is that really so?” Lin Hong huffed coldly, obviously not believing him.
Seeing this, Lin Yi grew anxious and hastily said, “Grandfather, these are my true thoughts, I didn’t lie to you!”
“Hmph!”
Lin Hong hmphed coldly, then declared, “Alright, no need for further explanation. You no longer need to think about running away. You should obediently stay here at Wicked Demon Peak. Until you break through to the Divinity Transformation Stage, you are not allowed to leave Wicked Demon Peak!”
“This…”
Lin Yi’s face changed, looking unwillingly at Lin Hong.
Seeing that, Lin Hong coldly rebuked, “What, you’re not willing? Did you not hear what I said?”
“I did!” Lin Yi replied through clenched teeth.
“That’s good!” Lin Hong said blandly, “You just focus on cultivating well here at Wicked Demon Peak! Once you’ve broken through to the Divinity Transformation Stage, then you can leave.”
“Yes!”
Lin Yi said with his head lowered, feeling very frustrated inside. However, he dared not defy Lin Hong, fearful that Lin Hong would become angry with him, which would make his days even more difficult.
What Lin Yi didn’t know was that his actions had greatly disappointed Lin Hong, leading to a feeling of aversion in his heart, making Lin Yi’s future journey all the more difficult.
“Alright, you may go back now!” Lin Hong waved his hand, signaling Lin Yi to return and rest.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yi could only turn around and go back to his room.
Lin Yi lay on his bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Lin Yi thought to himself, “What exactly is the Lin Family doing? Why are they confining me here? Why can’t I even go outside to have a look?”
His mind was filled with doubts.
He had been staying here for a month, spending each day either eating or cultivating. With the assessment coming up in just a few days, Lin Yi had to grasp every moment to enhance his strength to avoid embarrassment.
Early the next morning, Lin Yi got up early, washed up, and stepped out of his yard into the courtyard.
“Grandfather, I’d like to go out and have a look,” Lin Yi said.
“Didn’t you say you were cultivating?” Lin Hong asked, “What do you want to go out for?”
Lin Yi replied, “I’ve been cultivating for so long, I need to relax a bit!”
Lin Hong frowned as he glanced at Lin Yi, then coldly chuckled, “If that’s the case, then I shall accompany you on a trip outside.”
“Sure!”
Lin Yi’s heart skipped a beat when he heard this, but he kept his composure on the surface.
Lin Hong also gave Lin Yi a look but didn’t say anything, then led Lin Yi away from the Lin residence.
Lin Hong took Lin Yi out of the Lin residence, heading towards the outer fringes of Wicked Demon Peak.
What do you think?
