Chapter 34 - 34 34 Doing the Exact Same Questions
Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Doing the Exact Same Questions Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Doing the Exact Same Questions “How is that possible?” Mrs. Chen retorted.
Jiang Zhe was very calm, “Since you’re convinced that Xiao Meng can’t score that high, are you still worried about your son being expelled?”
Of course, Mrs. Chen didn’t believe in Xiao Meng’s grades, but what if?
How could she possibly agree to such an unreasonable request!
“Alright, for fairness, let Chen Zehao also take the exact same test as Xiao Meng, whoever doesn’t get 600 points will be expelled, okay?”
Before Mrs. Chen could speak, Chen Zehao began to object, “No way!”
“Why not? It’s alright for you to trouble Xiao Meng, but the same thing can’t apply to you?” Jiang Zhe countered lazily.
Chen Zehao was of course unwilling to comply; although his grades were good, this time Mrs. Chen had prepared an extremely difficult test paper specifically to trouble Xiao Meng and to get back at him.
He couldn’t risk his own future and bet everything to leave school alongside Xiao Meng!
“If this won’t do and that won’t do, then it’s clear that you are bullying Xiao Meng, a weak girl without support, right?”
Mrs. Chen was extremely angry, “Director Han, who is in charge here? How can a student be calling the shots?”
Director Han’s attitude also hardened, “Mrs. Chen, I think Jiang Zhe is right, a gentleman’s agreement cannot be retracted once made. We indeed cannot continue to delay Xiao Meng’s revision time.”
“Director Han!” Mrs. Chen snapped, gritting her teeth as a reminder, “The teaching building we donated to the school last time, only the first installment has been paid, are you sure you want to handle things this way?”
Director Han’s face changed slightly, as this matter was indeed serious, beyond his authority to decide. Although he knew Mrs. Chen was making threats, he feared it might disrupt some of the school’s normal operations.
Lou Qiaoyin and Xiao Meng both felt a bit scared watching Director Han, worried he might change his mind at the last minute.
Lou Qiaoyin clenched Xiao Meng’s hand, only to find it was ice cold.
Jiang Zhe glanced indifferently at Mrs. Chen, whose confidence had been boosted considerably by the matter of the teaching building. Staring into her fox-like eyes, she said, “Our family can donate a teaching building for Zehao, are you going to donate one for Xiao Meng as well?”
Chen Zehao also wore a smug smile as he looked at Jiang Zhe, having regained his composure from earlier concerns.
“Is it just a teaching building? What’s the big deal?” A casual voice entered the room.
The door was pushed open, and in walked an elder with graying hair. Director Han and Teacher Luo hurriedly greeted him, “Old headmaster.”
This was the retired headmaster, who still carried great prestige.
Behind him stood two young men, walking in from the backlight at the doorway. The light shone on them, and one of the young men had a mole below his eye, strangely seductive, but his gentle temperament subdued the seductiveness, yet was still too intimidating for prolonged stares.
The other young man, who had spoken, continued, “Alright, take away the Chen family’s teaching building if you wish, I’ll cover any new constructions the school desires!”
The old headmaster scolded, “Fen Ye, enough, this is a place for teaching and educating.”
Fen Ye looked at Jiang Zhe and winked at her, only to receive an indifferent cold glare from her in return.
She did, however, glance at Qin Jingchen, catching the scent of sandalwood on him from afar. Today, he wasn’t holding the Buddha Beads, his hands were clean and clear, fingers well-defined.
Qin Jingchen nodded, and when he looked at Jiang Zhe, there was a light, gentle flow in the depth of his eyes.
The old headmaster rebuked Director Han, “How come you didn’t inform me about such an incident?”
“I didn’t dare to disturb the old headmaster’s tranquility. I will handle this matter as soon as possible,” Director Han quickly replied.
“Alright, let Mrs. Chen go back. We are not in need of a teaching building. But remember, school is for teaching and educating; we must accept all without discrimination, but we cannot bring bad habits into it.” The old headmaster’s voice grew progressively sterner.
Lady Chen seemed to be suppressed by something at the scene and was utterly unable to refute.
She had no grounds for refutation.
Director Han asked her to leave.
Lady Chen had no choice but to take Chen Zehao and go.
“It still takes the old principal’s intervention to solve problems smoothly,” Director Han said with a smile.
But both he and Lou Qiaoyin could feel that, although the old principal was strict and had an air of a scholar, he wasn’t very intimidating. It was the young man with the tear mole behind him who inexplicably struck more fear into people.
However, since Lady Chen couldn’t leverage the so-called teaching building to pressure people, Xiao Meng’s issue was considered resolved.
“Now that everything is resolved and it’s almost noon, Xiao Meng, Jiang Zhe, you two go have lunch first,” Lou Qiaoyin said, letting out a sigh of relief.
Jiang Zhe and Xiao Meng left together.
“Grandpa Zhang, then I will also take my leave first. I’ll come to see you again when I get the chance,” Qin Jingchen said to the old principal.
“Alright, and pass my regards to your grandmother,” the old principal said cheerily, his gaze already following Jiang Zhe out of the office.
Jiang Zhe and Xiao Meng walked out, followed by Qin Jingchen and Fen Ye.
“Fox… Jiang… older sister-in-law!” Fen Ye struggled to find the correct form of address.
Xiao Meng couldn’t help laughing, “Jiang Zhe, I’ll go to the cafeteria first to save us seats, wait for you there.”
Fen Ye, finding himself as the brightest third wheel, realized quickly and left in a hurry, “Jingchen, I’ll wait for you in the car.”
“Old Principal Zhang is an old friend of my grandmother. I came to visit him and happened to hear about Xiao Meng’s situation, so I came to check it out,” Qin Jingchen explained his presence.
Jiang Zhe hummed in acknowledgment.
He didn’t expose Qin Jingchen. Since the old principal had long retired and lived quite far from here, Xiao Meng’s situation wasn’t significant enough to disturb the old principal.
“There probably won’t be any more trouble from Lady Chen,” Qin Jingchen said evenly.
“Yeah, I know.”
Jiang Zhe’s expression remained indifferent, as though the matter was never a big deal to begin with.
Students began to leave for the cafeteria. Seeing Qin Jingchen and Jiang Zhe standing together, they couldn’t help but take a few more glances. Jiang Zhe was already attractive, but to see a man who matched her perfectly standing by her side made the sight doubly pleasing.
More and more passersby came by, and the number of onlookers grew increasingly.
“Qin Jingchen, I won’t keep you for lunch. I’m afraid the cafeteria will be too crowded. Bye-bye,” Jiang Zhe waved and turned to leave nonchalantly.
Qin Jingchen smiled silently, watching her walk away.
Once back in the car, he asked Fen Ye, “What’s the situation with the Chen family?”
“Chen Zehao’s father, Chen Li, was originally a businessman. After accumulating resources, he changed his track. Now he’s a deputy director of some office, and he’s scheming hard to climb higher. It looks like there’s a director’s position waiting for him,” Fen Ye replied.
“Why wait and struggle so much? Just let him stop waiting,” Qin Jingchen said gently, as if showing concern for Chen Li.
Had it been anyone else, they would probably think that Chen Li’s promotion prospects were looking up.
What do you think?
