Death and Us

The unusually thick morning fog made me skeptical of Cephas’s weather prediction. With my personal guards behind me, I rode Night Blaze through the misty morning. Close to our target, I had Ian scout ahead while we planned a clandestine assault on the enemy’s defenses. The search for a breach in the enemy’s defence took two hours, yet Ian was nowhere to be found when we finished and so I had Evan and the others set up a tent for a much needed rest. Iwas too exhausted to organise my guardsand so I shoved my duties to Evan and went to soak in the barrel of freezing water I was expected to bathe with.
