Chapter 383: Sister Qing

Chapter 383: Sister Qing

Jiang Cheng noticed that and pulled Banana Wolf behind him. “Money is not an issue.” Jiang Cheng counted the money in Banana Wolf’s backpack, shoved it into his pocket, and raised his head. “I’m a reasonable person.”

The elder swallowed nervously.

“You should have records of all the previous renters, right?” Jiang Cheng waved his hands generously. “Get them for me.”

The old man frowned. “I’m sorry, but they’re all gone. Who dares to keep them after what happened?”

“Then, you should remember what happened back then, right? Tell me what happened in these rooms.” Jiang Cheng glanced at the old man. “Building 1, Room 707; Building 2, Room 404; Building 3, Room 808.”

The old man knew that he was wrong, so he told them the truth. When he told them about things in Buildings 1 and 2, Jiang Cheng was satisfied, and what the old man said aligned with what they had found out. However, things were different when the old man described Room 808.

“You don’t know?” Jiang Cheng stood up in impatience.

“I really don’t know anything about Room 808.” The old man quickly explained. “I’m just the middleman. I’m only helping rent out the rooms. Plus, I was only responsible for Buildings 1 and 2. I only took over Building Three after the incident.” The old man didn’t look like he was lying. Jiang Cheng signalled Banana Wolf to scare the man again, but the result was the same. The old man insisted that he didn’t know anything.

“Who is the previous landlord of Building Three?” Banana Wolf acted viciously. However, with his gentle looks, he didn’t look the part. Without the sword, he might look cute.

“Give me the contact information of the previous landlord,” Jiang Cheng demanded.

“It’s pointless.” The old man sighed, “She’s dead.”

“Dead?”

“Yes.” The old man nodded. He explained, “Yes. It’s true. They died not too long apart from each other. I kept saying those few days were cursed.” He licked his lips. “That’s why I told you not to go out at night.”

Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes. “Thank you!”

The old man cowered. However, Jiang Cheng was interested in the previous landlord. Based on what the old man said, they died very close to each other. Could there be a connection?

“Speaking of that woman… She was a poor thing.” The old man sighed and looked out the window. “She was young… Around the early 30s. She was pretty and nice. Unfortunately, she had a bad eye for a companion. She fell in love with a man who was younger than her. I don’t know what he fed her, but she loved him madly. She had an official job and several homes to rent out. However, she still didn’t earn enough to support her man’s spending habits.

“Later, the man cheated on her. She couldn’t control him. She waited at home, hoping for him to come back to her.” The man’s hands tightened around the cup. Clearly, he was sorry for the woman. “However, the man’s heart was outside. All her money was scammed by the man, and she was kicked out.

“She couldn’t handle the truth and killed herself in the bedroom by cutting her wrists. She had two dogs. I heard that she let them out before she killed herself. She probably didn’t want to harm the other lives.

“However, the dogs somehow returned to the bedroom and closed the door.” The old man paused. “It was her neighbours who called the police when they caught the smell. The body was rotten. The two dogs were trapped in the bedroom. It was…”

Jiang Cheng cut in. “Did she also live in Ping An Apartment?”

“That’s right.” The old man nodded and smiled awkwardly. “I forgot to tell you about this. The woman lived in Building 1, Room 717.”

Fatty’s heart fell. It was her! The ghost who could be bribed with money!

The old man didn’t know anything else, so Jiang Cheng didn’t press further. If anything, if the old man really knew everything, Jiang Cheng would be suspicious. ŖαΝО𐌱Ɛṡ

After they left the landlord’s place, they gathered for a simple meeting. Jiang Cheng collected everyone’s money and the fee he got from the KTV. He planned to meet the ghost in Room 717. She loved money so much because she saw it as the only way to win back her man.

After Banana Wolf heard these stories, he felt weighed down. The woman in Room 717 and the woman in Room 808 were both kind people. However, they didn’t meet the right men for them. They gave up their lives for their mistakes.

“I’ll go with you,” Banana Wolf suddenly announced when he reached the seventh floor. Jiang Cheng didn’t ask for people to go with him. He didn’t expect someone to volunteer. He looked Banana Wolf up and down before nodding. “Don’t say anything. I’ll take on the danger. Do not panic.”

Fatty was worried. “How about I go too? We can be on the lookout for one another.”

Jiang Cheng thought about it. “We’ll see. We can play it by the book.” They decided that they would split into two groups. After twenty minutes, if the first group didn’t come out, the other group should try to figure out how to save them.

“We will save you,” Hua Luo promised.

With Fatty and Banana Wolf in tow, Jiang Cheng knocked on the door to Room 717. The old man told them that the woman’s name was Weng Qing.

Like before, a slow sound came from behind the door. It sounded like people were dragging their feet as they moved. Moments later, the door opened a gap. Half of the woman’s face showed up. The woman’s face was pale, like she hadn’t seen the sun for a long time.

The room was as dark as before. The smell of rot leaked out through the gap in the door.

Since they knew the ghost’s demand, Jiang Cheng didn’t waste time. He extended his hand and shoved a thick stack of notes through the gap in the door.

“Sister Qing.” Jiang Cheng began in a sweet tone. “I picked up 4,342.70 dollars right before your door. See if you’ve accidentally dropped them.”
