"What do you want?" Ashivor asked, taking deep breaths to steady himself.

'I was careless…' He thought inwardly, his gaze fixed on the recording Evan was playing.

In the recording, his own voice rang out, admitting that he was in contact with several individuals working for Winterclaw.

Although such a revelation wouldn't severely impact him or the Phoenix Clan, Ashivor still did not want this recording to be seen by anyone—especially not by those affiliated with Winterclaw.

The reason for this was simple: what had happened in the past.

Just as Evan had suspected, the decline of the Phoenix Clan and the death of many of its members had been directly tied to Winterclaw.

If Evan were to send this recording to Winterclaw, that ice beast would have the perfect excuse to attack the Phoenix Clan again.

Evan studied Ashivor's expression carefully.

Though the old man had tried to remain calm and composed, the brief flicker of panic in his eyes, when he had threatened him with the recording, did not escape his notice.

'Now I am even more certain that the Phoenix Clan's tragedy is connected to Winterclaw. If it weren't, this old man wouldn't have panicked when I used the recording to threaten him.'

Evan didn't immediately respond to Ashivor's question. Instead, he turned to Sylvan and gave him a subtle nod.
