Chapter 294: | 294 | The Three Deities of the Frontier
Amidst the boundless reaches of the expansive Frontier stood a solitary, monolithic structure on an island perpetually engulfed by violent storms and turbulent seas. Soaring high into the heavens like a defiant spear, this jet-black edifice was the Tower of Revolution. The Stronghold of the Revolting Tide. To some, it represented hope. To others, it was dominion incarnate.
For the first time in decades, the three deities of the Frontier had made their way in to the Tower of Revolution. The subject of their discussion was none other than the foreign nation known as the United World Government. It was a rising power within the Ferus Sea, yet it went beyond their expectations as it utterly crushed the Colonial Dominions that surrounded it.
In a span of a single month, the United World Government had become a world power. Even the Frontier wouldn't be able to resist the influence of this foreign nation. Such thing was troublesome to the three deities who valued their authority over the Frontier. It was an insult to them, a mockery of their work within the ancient kingdoms. Yet, there was nothing they could do about it.
After all, whether it'd be technology, military, economically, and even power houses. The Frontier couldn't scale against the United World Government. It was the simple and undeniable truth. The disappointing fact of their circumstance. For this reason, they had decided to begin a meeting that would decide the fate of the Frontier. A summit of great importance.
The Administrators awaited, observing the distance rough waves that enveloped the island. In mere moments later, a vast mountain rose from the horizon and its tides. The first of the three deities have arrived. It was none other than the Island Turtle, the shield of the Revolting Tide. The Island Turtle wasn't to be underestimated. Its sheer scale dwarfed anything the Administrators' had seen.
It was a colossal entity of unrivalled proportions amongst the largest of the three deities.
The Island Turtle steadily moved its body beside the island and rested. Without the two deities, it didn't find the need to unveil its smaller and humanoid form. As such, those within the island could only observed the living island with amazement. At any rate, the Island Turtle wasn't to be underestimated. Its shell was a mountain that had been sculpted to become a fortress.
It was practically a moving fortress capable of decimating anything in its path. Even the expansionary fleets of the Colonial Dominions didn't dare to cross routes within the Island Turtle. After all, fighting against it guaranteed the sinking of your fleet at the bottom of the abyss that was the ocean. It was merely all for naught.
A couple of minutes later, a shriek resounded from the heavens as the storm cleared away. The golden sun gleamed through the fading black clouds, bringing about the blue skies where the second of the three deities had emerged. It was the Crimson Phoenix, the Guardian of Life. According to legends, it was capable of bestowing immortality and reviving those who had died.
Its flame could burned anything, second only to the breath of a dragon. Not only that, it was also capable of rebirth, which meant that death wasn't the end of its journey. But the beginning of another. The Crimson Phoenix was a neutral entity, but it was also ferocious and petty. Those bestowed with its gifts would forever serve it until the end of their eternal lives.
The Crimson Phoenix landed atop the towering monolith and shrieked once again. The Island Turtle merely glanced at it, before ignoring it and continued its sleep.
The Administrators watched in amazement as despite their thoughts about the deities. There was no doubt that they were the powerhouses of the Frontier. Without them, Humanity would have enslaved all of them. Though, perhaps it wasn't that different from the current circumstance of the Frontier. It makes one wonder whether being enslaved by your kind instead of the other was better.
A couple of seconds later, a thunderclap deafening resounded, attracting the attention of everyone. The Crimson Phoenix and the Island Turtle turned their gaze towards it while the Administrators of the Tower of Revolution followed suite. At the direction where the thunderclap echoed, a majestic behemoth stood and coldly gazed upon those within its sight.
It was none other than the White Tiger, the strongest of the three deities. He was known as the Hammer of the Revolting Tide. The White Tiger was capable of manipulating the phenomena of thunder and storms. His power and capabilities were the most devastating of the three deities, which made him the strongest. After all, the Dragon of Destruction had long been exiled from the organization.
The moment he arrived and was noticed by the Administrators. They quickly knelt and bowed their heads in respect to the White Tiger. He was the most prideful of the three deities as his arrogance knew no bounds. Those that dared to humiliate him or stand equal would be electrified into dust and damnation. It was better to surrender rather than resist the might of the bestial deity.
At any rate, now that the three deities had arrived, their bodies shone in radiance as they transformed into their humanoid forms. The Island Turtle transformed into a fat, bearded man. The Crimson Phoenix became a beautiful, red-haired lady. And the White Tiger turned into a handsome, white-haired young man. After their transformation, he smirked at them.
"It's been a while, my brother and sister." His arrogant words resounded, but the two weren't bothered by it since it was his usual tone. The fat, bearded man soon responded. "Byakko, I heard about you extorting kingdoms under my authority. I thought we were supposed to stir clear from one another. Are you asking for a fight?
"Now, now, the two of you should calmed down." A gentle yet firmed voice broke the two from containing their conversation. "Byakko, remember your promise to not cause trouble." "And Genbu, no need to take offense over a few mortals." As calming she may be, the Crimson Phoenix looked down on those she considered to be ants.
"Alright, I'm sorry about that. I just needed something, so I borrowed it from the kingdom nearest of me." Byakko apologized, though he maintained his smirked. It would have pissed others, but Genbu understood Byakko and his uncontrollable arrogance. He merely sighed and responded. "As long as you don't do it again, I don't want my reputation to be tarnished by such things."
"Suzaku, how about we get in and start the discussion?" Byakko's grinned slowly faded and was replaced by a cold expression. The rise of the foreign nation had brought them problems. Even with the utilization of their honored pets, the country kept growing and expanding. It had already become a world power, capable of rivalling the League of Humanity from the Continent of Europa.
"I understand, Byakko. Genbu, follow the two of us. We must converse about how to deal it with the rising change that envelops the Ferus Sea." Suzaku called out to the fat, bearded man. She walked through the halls of the Tower of Revolution, each of her steps made way for the curves of her body. She was beautiful as she was fierce.
As they entered the deepest labyrinth of the colossal tower, the assembly of the three deities had finally begun. Byakko glanced at his brother and sister. Although they weren't related, he considered them as his only family members within the Primordial World. After all, since the beginning they had been together under the guidance of the Dragon of Destruction.
"The United World Government... I heard that they were a country whose focus is the coexistence of humans and beastfolks. They disbanded the slave trade and brought a new age for the Ferus Sea. I heard that some people from the ancient kingdoms have navigated through the seas to reach the so-called paradise." Genbu muttered, earning the glance of annoyance from Byakko and Suzaku.
The two of them couldn't deny his words as refugees had surged towards the borders of the United World Government planning to become a part of the growing country. Even their spies would have a difficult time entering, the only time it succeeded was when one of their pets managed to cause chaos in the former capital city of the World Government, the Dawn City.
"We cannot stop those refugees from living the ancient kingdoms. Otherwise, the ants would rebel. While we could crush them with ease, it wouldn't matter if the ancient kingdoms collapsed into utter oblivion." Suzaku remarked, stating the matter that needed most of their attention. But Byakko was worried about something else. He didn't care about the refugees and instead was concentrated into the future plans of the United World Government.
"I'm not worried about the refugees. Instead, what do you think about the next step of the United World Government in regards to the Frontier? Slavery is still a live market within the ancient kingdoms. There is no doubt that we already have attracted the attention of the foreign country." Byakko uttered his worries to the two deities, whose expressions turned cold.
"Are you implying that they would invade us?" Suzaku questioned the prideful tiger while Genbu sighed and commented. "It isn't out of the possibility. The only independent entity within the Ferus Sea aside from the United World Government is the Frontier. We attract their attention regardless of what we do." Listening to the fat, bearded man, Suzaku furrowed her eyebrows.
"Should we prepare for an invasion? Though a question arises whether or not we would be able to handle them. The so-called Authority and the Dragon of Liberation have proven themselves to be powerhouses much stronger than us. Otherwise, Apostles would not have fallen one after another during wars." She continued and the two deities agreed.
They must prepare for the future that was about to come.
What do you think?
