Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!

Chapter 274: | 274 | Airborne Operation

State of Pelagus, Autonomous Sector

Dominion Island

Soaring across the skies of the Dominion Island were squadrons of transport helicopters escorted by a flight of attack helicopters. Aboard these Black Hawks were the 101st United Marine Company, comprising a force of over 200 Marines, deployed from a nearby Lightning Carrier, UNS Jaeger of the Blue Seas. It was an Airborne Operation, the task? The reinforcements of the fortified beaches.

Inside the leading Black Hawk coded Sierra Stallion 0-6 was 101st Griffin Actual, Captain Cameron. He calmly observed the lush forest and hills below them, thinking about the operation that was briefed by the commander in the UNS Jaeger of the Blue Seas.

After the unexpected attack to the resupplying combined-offensive fleet, Spear of Longinus. The defenses of the State of Pelagus had been significantly sunk. A few days following the disaster was when the alarms echoed. The Naval Fleets of the Colonial Dominions had sailed near the beaches of the Dominion Island. They were preparing for a beach landing, which must be halted.

Before he could entertain his thoughts further, his radio fizzed in and out, followed by a voice from the other side. It was an intelligence report.

*Captain Cameron, Sitrep just came in from the fortified bastions northwest of your current position. Numerous landing vessels had made their landing and the defenders are at present, dealing them. Your LZ will be inside an FOB two clicks from the beach.*

*The 101st United Marine Company must be ready to reinforced the area.*

Hearing about the invasion of the Colonial Dominions made Cameron furrow his eyebrows, the war was progressing faster than he had expected. Their enemies had already begun their beach landing operations, which wasn't a piece of good news.

"Understood, Sir. The 101st will be reinforcing the area." The Captain responded to the radio, which was immediately followed by the concluding message of the one in the other side.

*Good... Take care of the 101st company, Captain Cameron. The United Military will be sending more reinforcements in ETA: 3 hours. Once your position can last this duration, victory is assured. Jaeger Out!*

Captain Cameron sighed to himself, understanding that it would be a short yet tough battle once they made their landing. But it was the duty of the United Marines to ensure the defense of the United World Government's sovereignty over the sea region. They must ensure that the Dominion Island must not fall into the hands of those racist bastards.

*Captain, LZ is in sight. Prepare for landing.* Through the comms, the helicopter pilot reported to Cameron, who turned his attention to the nearing Forward Operating Base of the Dominion Island. But before he could keep surveying it, an explosion resounded beside the squadron of Black Hawks. The metallic interiors trembled as the comms became crowded with chatter.

*Evasive maneuvers! Deploying flares!* What followed were several explosions, riddling the skies with smoke. The transport helicopter squadron endured, but there were times when luck wasn't flying with them. An explosion rang out as a nearby Black Hawk was mildly hit.

*This is Sierra Stallion 1-4, tail rotor damaged. Altitude descent, preparing for emergency landing.* A Black Hawk slowly descended from the skies, its tail rotor leaving a trail of smoke. The squadron continued its evasive maneuvers while the attack helicopters begun their counterattack.

Hellfire missiles escaped their pods, piercing through the air leaving a hiss of white fumes in their wake. They made their landing a couple of clicks away, impacting the gathering forces of the Colonial Dominions. Explosions reverberated from the distance as the squadron quickly made their landing into the FOB.

Captain Cameron held on tightly with a narrowed gaze as he carefully observed their precarious circumstance with unveiled scrutiny. As the transport helicopters touched the ground, the marines rapidly unloaded themselves, preparing for a defensive battle.

'The situation has worsened.' He quietly thought while hopping out of the Black Hawk. Standing in the temporary airfield, another Captain made contact with him. It was Captain Stark of the 52nd Mechanized Company of the United Army.

"You must be Captain Cameron of the 101st UM Company, am I correct?" Stark questioned, to which Cameron responded with a nod. "Alright, as you have seen beforehand, our circumstance is far more troublesome than expected. Don't worry about the downed Black Hawk, my men will be rescuing them soon."

"What is important is that the FOB must be defended against the incoming invasion force of the Colonial Dominions. We have made trenches, fortresses, and sandbag walls to adequate defend this place. But without men laying suppressive fire against those bastards. These structures wouldn't last long.

"My IFVs and APCs will do all they can to assist you, alongside a convoy of Humvees and Trucks. However, they are limited and I don't want their positions to be perceived by those idiots. Any more questions?" Stark gazed upon the newly-arrived Captain, who immediately gave him an important question. "Captain Stark, how many of us are defending this place?"

Hearing the question of Cameron, Stark wryly smiled and responded. "Including you, there are four companies within the FOB alongside logistic personnel. The 101st United Marine Company, the 52nd United Army Mechanized Company, the 255th United Army Infantry Company, and the 28th United Army Armored Company. We are barely over a thousand, Captain Stark."

"And what about the numbers of our adversaries?" Captain Cameron continued asking for more questions to which Stark easily answered. "Tens of thousands, and they are increasing even further. The Wyvern Riders has taken the skies above the beach. There are over a thousand of them. I don't want to even speak about the goddamn Magis."

"Those bastards kept firing their magic missiles at us. I'm sure you have interacted with those spells during your transit." Captain Stark looked at Cameron, who realized what he was talking about. The explosions that took out one of their Black Hawks was part of the magic missiles. Anyhow, Stark continued. "The magic missiles are homing, which is troublesome to say the least."

"Magic missiles, huh? It seems that they have learned." Captain Cameron remarked, earning the chuckle of Stark, who commented. "They didn't just learned, they adapted and created counter measures against our military power. Nevertheless, it doesn't matter if we fight them as near-peer adversaries. We will kick them back and punch them in return."

"At any rate, I'll have to go, Captain Cameron. Remember that the Forward Operating Base must not fall. Otherwise, the United World Government would lose influence in Dominion Island. Civilians are still scattered in small villages throughout the island. The evacuation will take some time." Captain Stark left Cameron after leaving his final remarks, information he had already been briefed on.

Explosions resounded in the distance as artillery continued its bombardment into the shores kilometers away from them. The fortified beach had already been taken over by the Colonial Dominion as Pelagus Defense Forces fought until the very end, buying time for the creation of the Forward Operating Base. It was unfortunate, but their sacrifice would be appreciated by the greater World Government.

Captain Cameron arrived in the first line defense of the Forward Operating Base. It was a long and sophisticated trench line filled with machine guns, mortars, barbed wires, and sandbags. It was fortified, but against the war machines of the Colonial Dominion. Its capability remained questioned by the Marines deployed inside it.

Walking through the trench line, he noticed the explosions of the artillery bombardment becoming nearer by the moment. There was no doubt that the beach forces of the Colonial Dominions were advancing towards their position. 'I hope that reinforcements would come sooner than later.'

Arriving at the command post, a recon squad crackled from the radio, reporting vital information regarding the gathering forces in the beachhead. *Sir, recon report... Ground forces in the beachhead is increasing in quantity. It seems that they are utilizing some portal technology to transport their forces into the beach.*

The recon report provided critical information that could turn the tides of the battlefront. "A portal? Tell me where and how many there are." Captain Cameron questioned the recon squad, who promptly replied. *Ten portal gates are in the beach, Sir. These portal gates are adjacent to one another, although filled to the brim with runic shields.*

'Ten portal gates... Protected by runic shields, it looks like they understand what the lifeline of their beachhead is. I would like to start a counter-operation against those shields. But with tens of thousands of those bastards in the beach. It would be near impossible to infiltrate.' Captain Cameron sighed to himself. There was also the idea of utilizing bombs. However...

'The runic shields needs penetration in order to be broken. With dozens of runic shields overlapping each other, even using our most advanced bunker busters would be like snowballs being thrown at concrete.' He shook his head and decided to let the higher-ups think instead.

"Continue reconnaissance and report to me if anything changes." Captain Cameron uttered to the radio and turned his attention towards the communication operator. "Send the recon report to the UNS Jaeger of the Blue Seas. The United Military must hear of the portal gates. Its destruction is vital to the victory against these cockroaches."

The communication operator calmly nodded and swiftly sent the recon report to UNS Jaeger of the Blue Seas, which would sooner or later be received by the United Military. An operation would be made to disable portal gates, but that was for the future. For now, the Forward Operating Base must survive against the advancing army of the Colonial Dominions.
