Chapter 1316 1316: True Strength Of A Pack
Gathering the large power in his hand, and having the perfect target, Edvard was ready. He ran fast across the mountainside and shouted the words to the young boy. They would only have a split second to react, otherwise, they would get caught up in the hit.
He couldn't slow down. Even if Gary was still there, Edvard would have to strike anyway. Thankfully, Edvard saw Gary move away, and he swung his arm out in full force. His fist dug deep into the pit of Lupus's stomach, almost warping it.
A giant wave of red aura, along with energy that was drawn out from the armor itself, burst like a massive surge across the sky. Lupus's body was sent forward with all of the energy, and as he hit part of the mountain, his body crashed right through it, breaking it apart.
The energy consumed the entire area in front of Edvard, so he didn't even know what was happening. Observers from afar could see the large rumbling of the mountains.
Some even thought it was a volcano that had erupted from inside, especially with the intense shaking that followed.
"What is going on there? Is Gary going to be okay?" Innu asked.
The group, listening to Gary's words, had decided to escape. They all knew there was nothing they could do, and the Altered hunters were just happy that Gary had decided to get involved in the fight himself.
Thankfully, the Altered hunters had some handy tools that allowed them to take some vehicles with no trouble. They had selected a large truck similar to the ones they had arrived in.
Quickly emptying the back of it, they left it open as they drove away. One of the Altered hunters was at the wheel. With the back open, they were able to watch the fight from a distance while exiting the city.
Some used their superior vision, others used the masks of the Altered hunters, and then there were those that could only see the swirling of energy.
"Gary will be alright," Blackjack said. "Of years of fighting, it looks like Edvard might finally be able to rest. He's been out a lot longer than he was supposed to."
At the mountain top itself, Gary could see a large hole had been created, opening up from one side and now all the way through to the other side. One could barely see the sky and the stars if they looked hard enough.
"You did a good job, kid…" Edvard said as he held onto his hand by his side.
'Is he… hurt?' Gary thought. 'A blow large enough like that, to have some type of drawback might be expected, but the power, is it really from him, or all of it from the armor?'
Gary lifted his hand, touching the side of his ear, remembering he still had something himself. He hadn't utilized the power of weapons yet. Then there was also the medallion in his chest.
It had started to no longer burn into his chest.
'What was that before? Was it trying to activate or something? But why has it died down? It was activating the closer I got to Lupus. Could it have something to do with him, and now that he's like that, its power's died down?'
Looking at the destruction, Gary realized if Lupus was dead, he didn't feel good about it, not at all.
"Come on, we should check if he's really been finished off," Edvard said. "If there's one thing that history has told us, it's that werewolves are resilient."
That certainly seemed to be the case, especially since Gary had skills like Last Stand he could use.
'Wait, the quest. If I check my system, I can see if it's complete or not, and that way…' Looking at the system, Gary knew the answer: Lupus was still alive.
"Come on," Edvard said, walking through the tunnel he had created from his own attack with his fists, and Gary quickly followed.
Galark had been watching everything as well from the rooftops. As a bookkeeper, he believed that today would be an eventful day. Two Alphas meeting, it was an important event to be recorded.
'The real value of our recordings has been lost for some time,' Galark said as he looked at the full moon. 'Although the journey has not ended, with a moon as bright as this one, her powers should have been at their peak.
'There is no reason for her to directly be involved in the fight itself, because she can foresee what is going to take place.'
Gary and Edvard had exited out of the tunnel hall rather quickly and were looking around. As they looked down, they could see the bottom path of the mountains, an open piece of land where people would start their trail and trek up the mountains.
That was where Lupus's body was lying flat out on the ground. However, he wasn't alone.
"Who is that… with him?" Edvard asked.
Gary's heart started to beat rapidly because he knew exactly who it was.
"What is she doing there?" Gary asked himself.
With her power of foresight and on a night like this one, Ylva had been making her way to where Lupus was fighting. There was no need for her to join the fight, and if she did, she would have just suffered a defeat. But she had to reach Lupus somehow.
To do so, in the middle of two fierce beings, it was impossible. Instead, she had gone to where she had seen it, where she had seen Lupus falling to the ground. And now she was right by his side.
"Lupus… Lupus… this is not how our pack ends!" she cried out and went down to embrace Lupus with a kiss, pressing her lips against his.
In the distance, Galark smiled to himself.
"The true strength of the pack comes out when its Luna and Alpha are together."
