Chapter 788: The world of Irth (part-54)
Planet Irth;
The year was 4112, and the Orion Group was at the peak of its power.
With a valuation that soared beyond 10 trillion credits, they were no longer just a company—they were a force, an empire.
The world watched as Orion, the conglomerate that had everything from food production to robotics, was about to make history.
The crowd gathered in the massive stadium, the energy electric. This wasn't just another business event; this was the debut of something groundbreaking.
On stage stood Leiza, the brilliant scientist behind the biggest innovation of the century.
At 35, she had the mind of a genius and the beauty to match. Her platinum blonde hair, cut just to her shoulders, gleamed under the spotlight as she addressed the audience.
Her words carried a sense of excitement, and the press hung on every sentence.
"Today, we witness the future," she began, her voice calm but assertive. "The first fully functioning sentient android. An AI that doesn't just follow commands—this android thinks. It learns, adapts, and evolves, just like a human being."
The crowd was mesmerized. The silence in the stadium was deafening; everyone was waiting to hear more.
Leiza smiled, letting the gravity of the moment sink in. "And no, this isn't just another robot. It's a breakthrough in artificial general intelligence—AGI. A machine that can perform any task, solve any problem, without needing a single line of reprogramming."
With a flick of her wrist, the curtains parted behind her, revealing the android. It stood there, its smooth metallic body glowing faintly under the stage lights, eyes flickering with a soft blue hue. Leiza turned back to the crowd.
"Meet the future."
As the applause rang out, Leiza stood tall, confident in the success of the presentation. But there was something off. She glanced at her assistant, Talia, who was standing a few feet away, looking uncomfortable.
The woman's eyes darted around nervously, as if trying to avoid being noticed.
Leiza raised an eyebrow. "Talia, where is Orion?"
Talia hesitated, glancing down at her tablet before looking back up. "Well, uh, Orion... He's not here. He's, um, celebrating his birthday with his friends."
Leiza's eyes narrowed, her expression darkening. She forced a smile, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. "And you didn't think it was important to bring him here?"
Talia shuffled awkwardly, her hands twisting nervously. "He's at Lichtheim. I tried to reach him, but…"
"Lichtheim?" Leiza's face twisted for a moment in what could only be described as disgust. "I told you to bring him here. This is the 16th anniversary of his company. He needs to be here. Now."
The audience was still focused on the presentation, not realizing the tension building just offstage.
Leiza exhaled sharply, masking her irritation. "Fine. Get the chopper ready. We're going after him."
Talia blinked. "Wait, you want me to—"
"Yes," Leiza snapped. "Fetch the brat. I don't care how you do it. Knock him out if you have to, just get him here by evening."
Talia's eyes widened. "You want me to… sedate him?"
"Yes, do whatever it takes," Leiza muttered, already walking toward the exit. "We've made history today, Talia, and I'm not letting that spoiled brat ruin this moment."
With that, Leiza stormed off, the sound of her heels clicking sharply against the floor. Talia followed, looking caught between duty and uncertainty.
The two of them climbed into the chopper, the door shutting with a final thud. As the helicopter lifted off into the sky, Leiza turned to her assistant, her tone cold as ice.
"Get him. Now."
Talia nodded, though she still looked uncertain. "Yes, Leiza. I'll handle it."
Leiza stared out the window, the city sprawling beneath them, her mind already racing ahead to the confrontation that was about to unfold. She had bigger plans for Orion, but first, she had to deal with his little birthday distraction.
For a while, the helicopter was flying as good as a perfectly maintained one. Who knows why it happened, but the chopper trembled violently, the sound of the engine sputtering and cracking while it was in the wilderness.
Leiza's eyes darted to the cockpit where the pilot's face had gone pale. The wind howled louder, and the noise from the malfunctioning electronics made it hard to focus. "What's happening?
"The engine's failed!" the pilot shouted over the chaos. "We're going down! Ma'am, you need to jump, now!"
Talia's face contorted in panic as the pilot's words sank in. She grabbed the seat in front of her, her breath quickening. "What do we do? What do we do?!"
Leiza remained eerily calm, her mind already calculating the situation. "There are two parachutes," she said, pulling one of the bags from under her seat and holding it out to Talia. "You jump first."
Talia hesitated, her fingers trembling around the parachute. "But what about you?"
"I've got my own safety program," Leiza said, her voice steady, yet sharp with authority. She opened the hatch, the wind rushing inside, and motioned for the pilot to jump.
Talia's face twisted in confusion. "Leiza, I can't—"
"Jump!" Leiza ordered. "That's an order."
Talia's protests were drowned out by the roar of the wind, and in a quick move, Leiza strapped herself in, securing the chute tightly. The pilot wasted no time, leaping out of the chopper as it lurched in the air. Leiza followed soon after, her body soaring into the sky. The wind whipped her hair around, and for a moment, it felt like she was weightless.
But then, something strange happened.
The world froze.
The winds stopped, the helicopter was suspended mid-air, and the sounds of chaos died.
Leiza's heart skipped a beat as she looked around in utter confusion. She could still feel the adrenaline coursing through her veins, but everything—everything—was still. She was still falling, but nothing seemed to move. No, it wasn't her divine power that was at work.
Out of nowhere, strong arms caught her mid-air.
She blinked in disbelief as her body was gently cradled by a young man, his grip firm and steady. Her breath hitched in her chest, and her mind struggled to catch up with what was happening. She looked up at his face and froze.
"Rael?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. Her eyes widened in shock.
The young man grinned, his dark eyes twinkling with mischief. "Sorry, I'm late. Never thought our reunion would go like this."
What do you think?
