Chapter 531: Emerging with New Power - Part 1
"When are they going to come out of there?"
By the edge of the blood pool, Miranda pursed her lips in annoyance.
It had been nearly five months since Leon and Athena entered the pool, and her anxiety was growing by the day.
Of course, it wasn't their safety that concerned her. She could still sense their vitality—both were in good condition, showing no signs of injury or distress.
What troubled her was time. The Evil God's arrival was drawing near, and her master needed to travel to the territories of the elves, dwarves, giants, and spirits to unite them before it was too late.
If Leon and Athena didn't emerge soon, their remaining time would slip away.
"Don't worry, Lady Miranda. They'll come out eventually."
The dragon ancestor's soothing voice echoed from behind her.
Miranda turned and sighed softly. "I'm just afraid my master doesn't have much time left. The Evil God may appear sooner than we expected."
Her words caught the dragon ancestor off guard. His eyes narrowed. "Are you certain?"
"Yeah." Miranda nodded slowly, her expression serious. "It's not something I can confirm with certainty, but I sensed a faint disturbance coming from the direction of the Desert of Chaos. And honestly, I can't think of anyone other than the Evil God who could've caused it."
"Even so, the seal should still be strong enough to keep him contained. For now, all we can do is hope things don't turn out the way we fear."
In their current state, facing the Evil God was nothing more than wishful thinking.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say they'd be wiped out in an instant.
This beautiful world would be plunged into unimaginable chaos. Even if all the hidden races united, it still wouldn't be enough.
The dragon ancestor crossed his arms over his chest and fell silent, as if lost in thought.
If anyone were to ask who knew the Evil God best in this era, he would point to himself without hesitation.
That man's power was truly terrifying. Even at the peak of his strength, he had been overwhelmed by that deity.
It was hard to imagine what would have become of this world without the Holy Sword of Zenith and the Great Sword of Chaos in the past.
The peaceful and beautiful world they now lived in might have already turned into an eternal hell—one filled with horrors beyond comprehension.
*Grrk!*
Suddenly, the ground beneath them trembled violently. At the same moment, the once-calm blood pool began to churn wildly.
The dragon ancestor and Miranda were both startled by the abrupt change.
They quickly retreated several hundred meters, their eyes fixed on the blood pool.
"What's happening? Are they finally coming out?" Miranda asked, her voice filled with excitement.
A faint smile tugged at the dragon ancestor's lips as he replied calmly, "Yes. This should be the sign—they'll be emerging soon."
Right after he spoke, the blood essence in the pool began to swirl gently.
At first, it was subtle, but the movement quickly grew stronger, forming a vortex large enough to swallow a ship.
The faster it spun, the more the blood essence disappeared—vanishing as if being devoured by something massive.
The dragon ancestor's eyes widened in surprise, and then he burst into laughter.
"Hahaha! Incredible! Are they really absorbing all of it?"
He nodded in satisfaction, his broad smile unwavering.
Dragon blood essence was incredibly rare—and the amount in this pool was beyond priceless.
And yet, he felt no regret. On the contrary, he was overjoyed.
The complete absorption of the blood essence could only mean one thing: Leon and Athena had undergone a tremendous transformation. They had become far stronger than before.
Exactly how much stronger, he couldn't say. But... perhaps they now stood at a level equal to his own at the height of his power.
The process continued for an hour before it finally came to a halt.
The ground settled, and the once-filled blood pool was now completely dry.
*Whoosh!*
A sharp gust of wind roared from the direction of the now-empty blood pool. Moments later, a massive red dragon burst forth from within.
Its body was colossal, radiating an aura that seemed to dominate everything around it.
Two broad wings stretched wide with pride, while a pair of golden-red horns atop its head gave it an even more fearsome appearance.
Golden scales were scattered among its crimson hide, lending it a majestic and untouchable presence—like the sovereign of all dragons.
The dragon circled the room once before descending gracefully, landing right in front of the dragon ancestor and Miranda.
*Buzz!*
Its towering form pulsed with a brilliant golden-red light.
As the light gradually faded, Athena's beautiful figure emerged from within.
But this Athena was different from the one who had entered the pool four months ago.
Her fiery red hair now shimmered with a golden tint, though not entirely.
Her red eyes were laced with a faint golden hue, enhancing the depth of her gaze—and her allure.
Her curvaceous figure had become slightly fuller, and her chest looked noticeably larger than before.
In the past, she had always radiated a fierce and intimidating presence. Now, she appeared softer—calmer, almost serene.
Yet anyone with keen senses would instantly feel the pressure hidden beneath that serenity—like a blade concealed within a sleeve.
It looked tranquil on the surface, yet it carried a lethal threat.
Even the dragon ancestor himself could sense the subtle threat radiating from the granddaughter he loved so dearly.
"Ancestor, I'm back," Athena said, a gentle smile blooming on her face.
She approached with graceful, confident steps.
The dragon ancestor was momentarily stunned, then burst into hearty laughter.
"Hahaha! Well done! That's incredible! Your aura is truly powerful!" He praised her again and again. "Just as expected of my granddaughter."
Seeing the joy on her ancestor's face, Athena simply smiled.
Then she turned to Miranda, her gaze calm—but laced with a hint of mockery.
"Lady Miranda, it's been a while," she said, her tone laced with feigned politeness.
Miranda's brows twitched slightly, clearly displeased by the act. Still, she maintained her composure and nodded slowly.
"It has, Empress Athena," she replied evenly. "Looks like you've stumbled upon quite the opportunity, haven't you?"
Just from the overwhelming aura Athena gave off, Miranda could tell this was no small leap in power.
It wasn't two or three times stronger—it was dozens of times beyond what she had been before.
There was no question: whatever Athena had gained from absorbing the dragon blood essence had been extraordinary.
Athena didn't deny it. Instead, she nodded and replied calmly, "Yes. I was given the greatest opportunity—an audience with the dragon progenitor herself."
What do you think?
